they also can't spend the per capita of small countries like the Red Sox and Yankees too..... I'm sorry, do you want to update me as to what relevance that has in this discussion? Or is that just the standard excuse you give when you get in a debate about the Yankees or Red Sox? The Blue Jays do not have the pitching to defeat the Yankees and Red Sox over the course of 162 games. They are a fun team to watch, though. Halladay: 12-2, 3.08 ERA Lilly: 9-8, 3.89 ERA Burnett: 2-3, 4.17 ERA Ryan: 1-0, 1.13 ERA, 24 SV, 64 K Mussina: 11-3, 3.39 ERA Wang: 11-4, 4.01 ERA Johnson: 10-8, 4.88 ERA Rivera: 4-5, 2.06 ERA, 23 SV, 38 K Plus, the Jays have Gustavo Chacin coming back from the DL pretty soon. I'd say they have the pitching. When a team can only use four pitchers the remainder of the season, let me know! The Blue Jays staff is not going to get them to the playoffs. Their bullpen is atrocious outside of BJ Ryan. Scott Downs: 46 IP 4.89 ERA Jeremy Accardo: 40 IP 4.91 ERA Scott Schoeneweis: 32 IP 5.97 ERA Justin Speier: 38 IP 3.32 ERA (Horrible peripherals though, meaning he's more lucky than good) Brian Tallet: 29 IP 4.91 Mike Myers: 18 IP 1.5 ERA Kyle Farnsworth: 44 IP 4.06 ERA Scott Proctor: 61 IP 4.13 ERA Ron Villone: 48 IP 2.05 ERA Octavio Dotel: Will be back after 2 more rehab outings So what we've proved here is, despite having comprable rotations, the Yankees bullpen is so far superior (having 5 relievers better than the Blue Jays best) that it makes the argument silly. Not to mention the fact that come August 1 the Yankees will also have the superior lineup. It's been a fun ride Blue Jay fans, but not this year. Add another starter and 2 relievers and you'll be gold next year. Thinking the Blue Jays are going to pass the Sox/Yankees this year is wishful thinking at best.

It was campy to a fault, contained tons of cheesy dialogue Dude, did you ever read the comics? What works in comics doesn't neccesarily work on film. It definitely worked. Different strokes...

I'll see Spiderman 3 because it's a blockbuster, the end of a trilogy (perhaps), but I don't really like the first two and I think they are some of the most overrated movies ever. Agreed. I don't really understand why most of mainstream America considers Spiderman 1/2 to be such great movies; it was campy to a fault, contained tons of cheesy dialogue, sloppy CGI and some really poor and unimaginative fallback writing. It just didn't have the depth of Batman Begins, Xmen2 or even the latest Superman.

The only movie I have interest in seeing is Pirates. Though I'll undoubtedly get tricked into seeing Spiderman as well, despite strongly disliking the first two movies.

Wells is a monster, Halladay is a true ace. Should be a playoff team, possible division winner. Not this year. Still a season away. typical elitist Red Sox/Yankees attitude....all of you are the same.....we're the only two around and no one else can touch us. No, he's just being realistic. The Blue Jays do not have the talent to overcome both the Yankees and Red Sox this year. They need two more starters/to keep Burnett healthy.

Full trailer released: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefounta...ler1/large.html Thanks for the heads up. This looks really intriguing. I'm looking forward to reading more about it. Dare I say that it is one of the most intriguing trailers ever? Wow. I wasn't too hyped about this, but that trailer makes it look like a f***ing epic movie. -------- The first review for The Fountain is out, and you can read it here (warning: some minor spoilers): http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=reviews&id=7133 "Brilliant is really the only word I can use to describe the film." "The finished work is wonderful, is moving, is stunning." "The Fountain is a phenomenon." "I don't want to create unreasonable expectations, but for me the question about The Fountain isnt 'Is this one of the best films made in decades?' but 'What are the handful of films in my lifetime as beautiful and profound as this one?'" "The Fountain is beautiful, gripping and utterly transcendent. It's the best film of 2006." I think he liked it.

  10. I'm interested to see how Heath looks/acts as the Joker. I don't think it'll be an easy job for him. I think he can get the look quite easily..See: (Yes, that IS Heath) This Joker IS going to be much more reserved than what most everyone else knows of him, though. So don't expect a Jack replica. What character is that? I don't think anyone is worried about the look. I'm worried about the demeanor, voice, attitude, etc. Will be a fun project, that's for sure. I think that's from The Crow. Someone photoshopped him to add the dark red lips, green eyes and green hair, though.

  12. I just can't get Brokeback out of my head. A sissy lover boy to an insane villain. High five for being ignorant! Brokeback Mountain was a great movie, by the way. Heath did a great job and really showed his range as an actor. I actually liked Brokeback a lot. I'm probably the only one I know that watches it. However I think you need to take a step off the judgement train and reread what I wrote. He was a sissy lover boy (yes) and now will be an insane villain (yes) It has nothing to do with my beliefs or opinions. The last picture I have of Heath is him bending Jake over and doing the dirty. Not easy to transition to the role of a famous villain. Chill with the hate, my man. So every gay man is a sissy lover? I didn't think he came across as a sissy at all in BBM. Where did you get that? At the risk of sounding judgemental and/or presumptuous, are you gay? (honest question). No, though I wouldn't care if you thought I was. BTW, It's a done deal...From Batman-on-Film.com: Heath Ledger? It's TRUE Author: Jett Friday, July 21, 2006 - 8:26 AM PACIFIC TIME: I usually don't go out on a limb unless I have had something confirmed. Heath Ledger will be The Joker. From my BEST source: "Nolan has been in secret talks with Ledger for some time....The fan favorites like Paul Bettany, Crispin Glover and your fave pick, Lachy Hulme, were just grist for the mill. Ledger will be playing The Joker. The offer was made last night, and it will be a done deal. There you have it. Heath Ledger is The Joker.

  16. I really dont think that beckett is that interested in money, he never even talked about it here and im pretty sure that if he wouldnt have been traded he would have been a part of the marlins organization for a long time great news red sox go get'em becks :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol Have you ever met the guy or heard an interview? He is (like 90% of baseball) all about money. yeah actually I have met him and actually talked to him about that its not like the marlins were giving him chump change to begin with Josh isn't going to say to a fan "Yeah, I only care about money. I really hate baseball." He's going to tell you what you want to hear, "I love this game. I'll do anything to win. Money doesn't matter to me."
  17. CURVEBALL AND A HALF!!!!! THIS MAY EVEN QUALIFY AS A GYROBALL!!!! His name wasn't mentioned once in ANY form by ANYONE. Totally out of left field. Chris Nolan does it again, though, getting the best acting talent to star in the Batman films. Bale, Oldman, Murphy, Neeson now Ledger. Absolutely great selection. I cannot wait to see how Ledger does the character. Thanks for the scoop Passion. And Paul Bettany really was never a favorite to get the role, despite the general public thinking so.

Foxx, Farrell, Drugs, Sex, Beaches, Boats - this should make a decent amount at the box office. I read a few reviews that were absolutely brutal, but I might give it a shot.
  19. I'm basing this on trying to win, not stats. Just doing the AL as well. Lineup: 1. Ichiro RF 2. Derek Jeter SS 3. Joe Mauer C 4. Travis Hafner 1B 5. David Ortiz DH 6. Manny Ramirez LF 7. Alex Rodriguez 3B 8. Vernon Wells CF 9. Robinson Cano 2B Rotation: 1. Johan Santana 2. Francisco Liriano 3. Roy Halladay 4. Mike Mussina 5. Justin Verlander Bullpen: Long Reliever: John Lackey Lefthanded Hitter Specialist: JJ Putz Righthanded Hitter Specialist: Joel Zumaya SU: Jonathon Papelbon SU: BJ Ryan CL: Mariano Rivera
  20. Two very good episodes tonight. The production values are excellent for this show. Loved the second episode.
  21. Not suprising. He is the heir apparent to Schilling as the ace of Boston's staff. I expect him to stay in Boston for a long time to come. Boston is going to be in the dumps if they expect Beckett to be their ace. Jon Lester, despite his terrible WHIP, and Jon Papelbon, assuming they move him back to the rotation, will be the aces of the Red Sox for years to come. Josh Beckett is really a #3/#4 starter on a good team.

Was I the only one who wasn't feeling the rape sequence last night? I got what they were trying to do. But...I dont know. It didn't work for me.
  23. Do you hear those footsteps Passion? In July, who cares? Are you the most immature older poster on the site? Yes. Phew. Thanks for sparing me there :lol I'm glad you added that witty remark to the discourse. Good job.
  24. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405296/ It's currently on limited release, but I was lucky enough to catch a screening of it the other day in NYC. Great flick. It's very talky, and somewhat slow at times but it's really a treat if you like thinking movies. You'll definitely want to go with someone who you can talk about it with afterwards. The rotoscoping really fits well in the world PKD created. 9/10 It goes wide next week I believe. I would post this in the movie review thread, but I decided since it hasn't been released wide yet I'd just make a new thread.
