MVP: Jeter or Ortiz?
How 'bout Big Papi taking 2nd on that error? 2 errors on the same play. Giambi for sucking and Bernie for loafing after the ball.

Is it possible..........
I know he has sucked lately, but Jonathon Papelbon?

MVP: Jeter or Ortiz?
It's pretty close but one big thing is the Yankees would still win the division without Jeter while the Red Sox are in 3rd place and out of the Wild Card chase without Ortiz. I don't think that's true. When the Yankees were considered a sinking ship the only thing that kept them afloat was Jeter. Of course, Jeter didn't have as many walk off hits as Ortiz had (no one has ever), but Jeter just about single handedly kept the Yankees alive for approximately a 2 month span. The difference in the division so far has been how the Red Sox and Yankees have handled adversity, where the Red Sox have wilted with their recent injuries, the Yankees, when faced with the same injury bug, somehow, surged. Bubba Crosby, Bernie Williams, Melky Cabrera, Miguel Cairo, and Andy Phillips were all starting in the Yankees lineup, but yet they still kept pace with the Sox. Now, we'll see if the Red Sox can mount a surge like the Yankees did and make this whole race a lot more interesting. Personally, I'd give the MVP to Ortiz, unless the Red Sox miss the playoffs, in which case, CI wins.

I read that earlier today. Decided not to correct myself because I hate admitting that I'm wrong.

Jeter just bunted Damon over to 2B
Where is the "Josh Beckett just walked Bobby Abreu - in the third inning" thread? Completely different. Nice try at being witty though. How is it completely different? Neither are deserving of threads. Thanks, by the way.

I don't think that's an error. So that he understands, he has "Remember Sammy Jankis" written on his hand. Once he sees that (yes, its oddly convienent and a bit too simple) he realizes that he must have the same problem that Sammy had. Does he look at that every time? About 96 times a day? Probably not, but "willingful suspension of disbelief" comes into play at that point. We're not supposed to believe he knows his condition until after he looks at his hand each new "session". Just how I interpreted it, I could be wrong. He said repeatedly the last thing he remembers is his wife dying. He starts anew every so often so I don't understand how he could ever grasp the concept of his condition if the last thing he remembers is the death. He should never remember being diagnosed with the condition or not. It's a huge plot hole but it doesn't take anything away from the movie for me and I put it in my top 10, but it doesn't make any sense. Again, it's oddly convienent and too simple to say that he would look down at his hand at the start of each new memory session, understand what "Remember Sammy Jankis" is implying, and then apply Sammy's condition to himself, however its really the only somewhat logical explanation. So, although it's unrealistic and wildly naive, an explanation to why he knows about his condition is given. I'm not really disagreeing that it's a ludicrous explanation, because it absolutely is, I'm just saying why it's not a big deal to me.

Sigh.. Johnson vs. Wang this afternoon
Hinske has always owned Wang, if I'm not mistaken. Also, I love how the umpire didn't punch out ManRam with the count 0-2 just because he threw a hissy fit over the previous pitch. Of course, Manny then hits the next pitch out of the park.

The Dark Knight
The Denzel point is moot anyways. I think he is too demanding of a presence for the role and the Ryan Phillippe rumors seem to have some considerable legs now. I'm pretty sure that these "close to signing" rumors are just the trickle down of the BOF report. I'd be stunned if he actually got the role.

Jessica Biel
Not that it really matters, but those pictures are from the premiere of The Illusionist, not The Prestige. Ok, now you can go back to whacking it.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?
Good Review. I think I'm going to check this out (Teacher played it in 9th grade but I missed one of the days). I recently got an 'A' in Music Appreciation (Whole class was about Classical Music). Thanks for the detailed write up. Definitely do. Great movie. Just misses out on my top 10, and is undoubtedly in my top 20. Must see.

Hitman
If I'm not mistaken, LatinoReview also thought the Hitman script was brilliant, giving it an A+. I'm going to try and get my hands on it and see for myself, I've never played the video game though, so I'd be unable to compare.

The Departed
Still ridiculously excited about this movie, however, I hate that poster. Way too cluttered.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?
Brick Viewed: On DVD Run Time: 110 Minutes Plot Outline: In a modern-day Southern California neighborhood and high school, student Brendan Frye's piercing intelligence spares no one. He's not afraid to back up his words with actions, and knows all the angles; yet he prefers to stay an outsider, and does - until the day that his ex-girlfriend, Emily, reaches out to him unexpectedly and then vanishes. His feelings for her still run deep; so much so, that he becomes consumed with finding his troubled inamorata. To find her, he enlists the aid of his only true peer, the Brain, while keeping the assistant vice principal only occasionally informed of what quickly becomes a dangerous investigation. Brendan's single-minded unearthing of students' secrets thrusts him headlong into the colliding social orbits of rich-girl sophisticate Laura, intimidating Tugger, substance-abusing Dode, seductive Kara, jock Brad and - most ominously - non-student the Pin. Only by gaining acceptance into the Pin's closely guarded inner circle of crime and punishment that Brendan will be able to uncover hard truths about himself, Emily and the suspects that he is getting closer to. My Thoughts: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is fantastic in the lead role. The writing is clean, crisp, and smart, complete with old school noir dialogue that's sharp as a butcher knife. It maintains good pacing and doesn't take itself too seriously despite the fact that it touches on some very serious themes. It's a little cliched and can be clumsy but I'd say it makes up for it by having the balls to do something different. Worth at least renting, possibly worth buying. 8/10 - Great.

Nope, but I'm used to it now. It's not that big of a deal.

World Trade Center
It was way better than United 93 and I agree, it was very well done. It was probably one of the best directed films I've seen. Strongly disagree. United 93 was MUCH better than WTC. I liked the way they handled WTC, but it just wasn't a good movie.

The Official Top Ten Favorite Movies of All-Time Thread
Welcome to TOTTFMOATT (The Official Top Ten Favorite Movies of All-Time Thread)! Yes, I know the great majority of us have already posted our top 5 on this board sometime in the past 5 years, but who doesn't love talking about their favorites? Besides, this board is going through a bit of a lull and we need to spice it up a bit. You may have seen threads similar to this, such as the illustrious 'your favorite movies' thread from 5 months ago, and your probably wondering why I didn't bump them, however after some sniffing around, I figured it'd be best to make a whole new thread in 'Movies' instead of bumping that really old one in the Media forum. Now here's a small guide I decided to type up to help the morons among us... TOTTFMOATT for Dummies: 1. Post your top 10 favorite movies of all time. 2. Explanations are cool. If you want to go off on a rant about why your number 4 favorite movie, 'The Waterboy', is so great, go for it! No guarantees that I care, but knock yourself out. 3. No lumping. Try to avoid posting 'trilogies' such as the Star Wars Trilogy or the Lord of the Rings Trilogy as ONE movie. Feel free to include all of the movies in your list, but try not to take three separate films and lump them into, say, your #3 slot. 4. Debates are cool, but don't be a moron by trashing another person's opinion. Try to avoid idiocy like, "You like 'Maid in Manhattan'?!?! LoLz what a n00b. Kil yurself!" at all costs. 5. For some reason I also feel obligated to add, 'have fun'. Let the posting begin!

Lindsay Lohan
Alot of Hoez? I know look like sh*t when they take off their makeup because they've been wearing the stuff for so long that alot of 'em don't take good care of their skin and just wear makeup more and more. Alot of people would be shocked to see what alot of chicks look like under their 'masks'. Usually not a pretty sight. LOL. I have GOT TO find the picture of Eva Longoria without makeup, it's barf-worthy. Edit: Ok it's not as bad as I remembered, she still looks terrible though: http://subvertsociety.com/wp-content/uploa...aNoMakeup-1.png
