The Fountain
I need to see it again, but I thought it was a beautiful film. I have to make some kind of final connection with the final scene, which I have yet to do, before I say just how much I truly liked it, though. I'm still trying to pin down exactly what the meaning was since you can go about 100 different ways with it. I will never recommend this movie to anyone, though.

Twins' Justin Morneau wins AL MVP
Whoever voted Derek Jeter sixth needs to have their voting rights stripped, by the way.

Twins' Justin Morneau wins AL MVP
I would have liked to see Joe Mauer win the award.

The Fountain
I just found out I'm probably going to have to go in the city to see it on Wednesday. Let's just say I'm more than a little pissed. BTW- Reviews for this movie are hilarious. "Best movie of the year!" and "Worst movie of the year!" can be seen back to back on rottentomatoes.

2006 Hot Stove Thread: Mets Fly Across Country to meet with Zito
Tidbits: 1. Cards interested in Barry Zito and Jason Schmidt for starters. 2. Cardinals may be interested in Woody Williams, Gil Meche, Vicente Padilla, Adam Eaton, Mark Redman, Randy Wolf - more realistic! 3. Cardinals have talked to agents of Mulder, Suppan, and Weaver 4. Little interest in bringin back Marquis 5. Mulder - Yankees interested and may command 8 mil a year? 6. Cardinals looking for impact bat.. ALFONSO SORIANO a target! I love the media. The Cardinals have interest in EVERYONE! Go figure.

NCAA Football Week 11 Discussion
I would bet everything I own that Schiano does not leave Rutgers. There's simply no way. He wants to stay, and the administration wants him to stay. Rutgers has the money to pay him. It's a done deal.

NCAA Football Week 11 Discussion
All of the bounces and breaks going Louisvilles way so far. I'm shocked to only be down 11. Momentum was swinging Rutgers way the last 6 minutes of the half, we'll see if they can keep it up. If Rutgers holds Louisville off the board on the first drive of the 2nd half, this game will get very interesting. Still, just fantastic to see some excitement and life back in the Rutgers football program.

Wang throws a heavy 95-97 MPH sinker. That's why he has low K's, but is still dominant.- Rogers smudge or CHEAT?
Rogers has been pitching well all year. It appears that in last year's off-season he sold his soul to the devil. He's a beast, after years of being a schmeg. No, he's a cheater, after years of being a schmeg.- Flags of Our Fathers/Letters From Iwo Jima
All Eastwood movies get pretty good reviews, even if they're terrible. The "best" critics have a hard-on for Clint. You should know that by now. Seeing this tomorrow, btw.- The Prestige
EDIT: I originally wrote 9/10 because I felt I had already given out too many 10/10's this year (The Departed, V for Vendetta), but that seems silly to me. 10/10. Fantastic. Nolan hits a home run again.- The Departed
I saw this last night and don't really see what the fuss is about. Sure, it's entertaining but Scorsese doesn't really cover much new ground. The only thing this film was missing from his previous works was the overbearing voiceover. One of the initial criteria I use when evaluating a film is how well it sticks in my mind. Here I am about 12 hours later and the film is only memorable enough for me to write this post. When he tried covering new ground, it didn't work. The Aviator and Gangs of New York were good pieces of work, but they were far from incredibly entertaining like The Departed was. People like Scorsese because he makes violent and vulgar urban flicks. Why should he screw with something that works? If I wanted a revolutionary piece of filmmaking I wouldn't be looking at a Scorsese gangster movie.- The Departed
No offense, but I don't think you got it. Or the meaning/reasoning behind it. After giving it some more thought I think better of it now. I suppose I'm just upset that: That's the point; It's bleak. Sometimes life kicks you in the balls, but you get back up, other times your head gets chopped off by a piece of flying debris and you don't get back up. This movie is an example of the latter.- The Departed
I'd rank the performances as: 1. Nicholson 2. Damon 3. DiCaprio With alot of love for Wahlberg. I'd reverse the list. I thought DiCaprio was flat-out awesome. Wahlberg played his role perfectly, but it wasn't big enough for me to mix him in with the others. The best Oscar prediction site, theoscarigloo, has DiCaprio as the 2nd best candidate for Best Actor and Nicholson as the 2nd best candidate for Best Supporting Actor, fwiw.- Joe Torre Expected To Be Fired, Lou Pinella Hired
How about the fact that Joe Torre is a horrible, and I mean absolutely abysmal, in-game manager? Sure, he's a pretty good clubhouse manager, but he's awful otherwise.- A-Rod...
- The 2006 ALDS: New York Yankees VS. Detroit Tigers
The Yankees hitters seem to check their patience at the door when playoff time comes. They swing at ball after ball outside of the zone. All year long, patience has been the teams backbone, now they just flail around like they're the Royals. Simply unbelievable how the offense has managed to choke the last 2 games. I still think the Yankees win the series, but the offense needs to chill out and let the game come to them. In other news, I'm supposed to be at a wedding during Game 4... Hm...- The Departed
Ahem... 10/10. Full review tomorrow. Must-see. A classic. - Top 20 pitchers 5 years from now
