Guest FishFanInPA
Tigers have the pitching to match the Yankees....although Verlander got torched by them i think last time they met.
MikeLowell25
Sucks that if the Tigs get swept, Bonderman won't even get a start ..
yankeefan21
I'm not sure how accurate this rotation is. Lord willing, RJ will be unable to pitch Game 3 because of his back... I feel like every team has a chance because no one is coming into this thing on a tear or as an absolute favorite. I don't think Detroit is playing very good ball at all right now. As it was, Detroit had won 8 of their previous 9 games before the Yankees came to town and took 3 of 4 in late May. Then there was that day/night double header series where the Yankees really should have swept [Proctor screwed the pooch in a save situation with Mo unavailable in the night game] but still managed 2 of 3. I like NY's chances.
SonataArctica121
Nate starting game 1? Did I miss something amazing he must have done? Anyway, I might go with the yanks here, a lot of pitching but the tigers have cooled off big time.
MarlinsMY
Nate starting game 1? Did I miss something amazing he must have done? Anyway, I might go with the yanks here, a lot of pitching but the tigers have cooled off big time. Rogers, the planned starter of Game 1, pitched yesterday in relief (2 IP), so they needed to make some adjustments. Anyway, let's go Yankees (but not until Nate is out of the game and won't get the loss)!

yankeefan21
You'd rather throw Jaret Wright out there then Randy? Almost. I'd rather see Lidle out there, sharp and healthy. RJ is an emotional guy and lets it get the better of him. Thats how Anaheim got to him in the post season last year.

MVPosey
Position by position breakdown: Pos. Yankees/ Tigers/ Edge C. Posada/ Pudge/ Yankees 1B. Sheffield/ Casey/ Yankees 2B. Cano/ Polanco/ Yankees 3B. A Rod/ Inge/ Yankees SS. Jeter/ Guillen/ Tigers LF. Matsui/ Monroe/ Yankees CF. Damon/ Granderson/ Yankees RF. Abreu/ Ordonez/ Yankees DH. Giambi/ Thames/ Yankees SP. Wang/ Robertson/ Tigers SP. Mussina/ Verlander/ Yankees SP. Johnson/ Rogers/ Yankees SP. Wright/ Bonderman/ Tigers CL. Rivera/ Jones/ Yankees MR. Tigers Man. Torre/ Leyland/ Tigers The Yankees have the best lineup I've ever seen...Robinson Cano is their weakest hitter, and he's one of the best in baseball at his position...The Tigers have much better pitching, but the Yankees offense will be too much to handle...of the Twins, Tigers, and A's, the Twins are the only team with a realistic shot of knocking off the Yankees The Tigers better pitching will allow them to win a game or two though
MarlinFan10
Frickin' win Tigers. It's refreshing to see a new team win once in a while. At least the BoSox aren't here this year.
yankeefan21
Robinson Cano is their weakest hitter... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/stats/index.jsp Here's where Cano ranks among qualified [400 AB] AL 2B: BA: 1 OBP: 1 SLG: 1 TB: 1 2B: 1 RBI: 2 HR: 2 H: 4 And he missed about 200 AB with an injury. If you think that a guy with the 3rd highest BA in the league is the Yankees "weakest hitter," I feel sorry for the competition. BTW - Guillen > Jeter? Please. You do know that Jeter is among the favorites for league MVP, right? You do know that we are headed for POST season play, right? I won't even get into the Leyland vs. Torre debate. It's not even worth it. Oh right, and you know that Wang finished tied for the league lead in wins with Santana AND the Yanks won both of his starts against Detroit [including a 2-0 gem against Robertson], right? :whistle
Dodge
My heart says Go Tigers... but I think the Yankees covering a -1.5 spread tonight is a great bet.

Wang is 3-0 with a 2.5 ERA in his career against the Tigers. This of all the games looks the most un-winnable.
