The Dark Knight
Well, she does have a pretty fair resemblance to Katie Holmes. Other than that, I agree. I was upset when I first heard the news. It's a shame Maggie wasn't cast in the first place. Anyway, the Harvey Dent/Two Face/Batman storyline is probably my favorite (the entire TLH storyline really). I'm excited that Dent is going to be very, very prominent in this/the next movie, and reading the portions of the script that are leaking around the internet, it seems like they nailed it. The look of the Joker is also going to be great from how it sounds. The scarred smile is something I'm a huge supporter of. In fact, everything about The Dark Knight is going right so far (minus the recasting). I'm pumped.

Pan's Labyrinth
Just watched this the other night. I'm still digesting! I certainly liked it but I'm struggling with how to rate it. On the one hand, I was entertained and the film was visually appealing. I also enjoyed the story and the perspective. On the other hand, I feel like something got lost in translation both figuratively and literally ["hasta ma?ana" was translated as "good night" in a very crucial scene, for example]. I wasn't very emotionally invested in any of the characters and many of their actions seemed forced/unnatural. I'm also trying to reconcile the fact that this is a fairytale for adults set in WWII. A lot to consider! Del Toro did the subtitles himself.

V for Vendetta
Valerie was the whole reason V was doing what he did. It was critical to the story. You couldn't cut it out under any circumstances. Though the way it was shot did tweak with the films pacing. I liked. Watchmen should be amazing if they do it correctly. My confidence in Snyder was greatly shaken by 300, but maybe he'll nail it.

Clemens is a Yankee
Is there a picture of her anywhere? Spare yourself, bro.

Clemens is a Yankee
maybe Matt DeSalvo can be lightning in a bottle for them. His numbers in AAA this year are fantastic Look at his BB/9 numbers. He's too wild to have major league success with his stuff. Of course, everyone can get lucky for a few starts (see Rasner, Karstens), but he's really a 5th starter in the major leagues at the absolute best right now. I know his AAA numbers are outstanding, but unless he gained velocity over the offseason and I'm yet to hear about it, he's not going to be anything special for a sustained period of time. Clippard should've gotten the call.

Clemens is a Yankee
O/U on what they paid him? 20 mil? If he plays like he did last year he will make them alot better. He averaged about 6 innings a start and pitched in the NL. The AL East is a lot better now then it was in 2002 and 2003, and he was hardly superb then. Man I can't wait for this. With their pitching woes, it doesn't strike me at all. They still won't win the world series AL East though. Fixed. Just like last year? And the year before? The spring-time warriors and their fans are at it again! Get hyped. The fact that you need to coax a 44-year old (45 in August) out of retirement pretty much sums up the state of the Yankees right now. If you think this single starting pitcher totally changes the team around, in a word: lulz. June 1st starting rotation: Wang Mussina Pettitte Clemens Hughes With the best lineup in baseball? The Yankees are in a fine state if I do say so myself. They just have to keep it afloat for 3 more weeks.

Hughes to make MLB debut Thursday
Had some tough luck in the 5th with a bad call and bad defense behind him from Miguel Cairo. He's out now due to pitch count. He looked fantastic after the first inning though, much better than he did in spring. I fully expect him to stick.

I wish they were starting him this weekend. I wish they had waited a month, but...me too.

Yankees put 2 more starters on the DL
Fortunately, the Yankees are absolutely loaded with minor league arms. Wright, Clippard and possibly even Steven Jackson and Ross Ohlendorf will get called up before Hughes at this point. I'd say Sanchez, too, but he's gotta get some work in before he's an option. Hughes is doing his usual level-change swoon (happened each of the past 3 years). I wouldn't expect to see him in the Bronx until June.

The Royals are beating the Red Sox
Schilling did not look good at all. I hope dice-k get lit up on thursday. Why do you want Dice to get shelled?Predictions: The Sox spent a lot of money on him. ESPN has hyped him. FSN has hyped him. Sports Illustrated has hyped him. Everyone has hyped him. The Red Sox suck. I don't like the Red Sox. He is Japanese. If it isn't one of those, color me impressed. :mischief He doesn't use any form of deodorant either. Just what I heard.

Red Sox-Tigers game
For the record, Ordonez was sent to the hospital after Beckett hit him in the head. I don't think he deserves an "atta boy", The Don.

The Dark Knight
It's a photoshop. You'll see I had posted some photoshops of Heath Ledger earlier in this thread. I just posted it because I thought it looked cool. Yes, I believe that picture is also from The Black Dahlia.

79th Annual Academy Award Nominations
Where the hell is The Fountain score? What a screwjob. Also, no nomination for Dreamgirls is quite shocking.

Pan's Labyrinth
Haunting and frightening, yet beautiful. This is the best movie of the year, in fact it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. Simply amazing.

If I'm not mistaken he resigned, he didn't retire. There's a big difference.

The Good Shepherd
In my opinion, it was a little bit disappointing. I felt that it focused too much on these fictional characters, rather than the CIA itself. The subtitle that has been added to this film, "The Untold Story of the CIA", is misleading. The Joe Pesci appearance also felt really tacked on, and unnecessary. I missed this earlier. The movie is more about the character Edward Wilson than it is the CIA. Don't expect an origin story of the CIA.

The Good Shepherd
I was impressed in all aspects. It really seemed to have an energy to it, and I didn't feel the 3 hour runtime as much as I suspected I would. Damon and Jolie are both excellent. The writing was crisp and quite intense at times. Very, very good. Certainly in the running for my Top 5 of the year.

MB.com's The Passions
And I have immediately sprung back to life. I demand Best Director be named "The Martin Scorsese Award". Have the general public decide five nominees through voting, and then have a panel of anywhere from 5 to 11 members decide the winner. I I also agree with Juanky on this.

Red Sox acquire Brendan Donnelly
At least its not Shields. The Yankees can't sniff him when it counts.

The Fountain
One more thing I forgot to mention: I found the Buddha meditation poses and the martial arts movements in the future segment to be unimaginative and stereotypical. They did not work for me at all. The movies philosophy is based on Buddhist ideals. I think you're nitpicking a little too hard here.

The Fountain
I can't really disagree with any of the criticisms. It's a highly flawed film. But, I like it based on its visual merits and its huge balls. Plus, its nice to have a movie based on metaphor in a day when EVERYTHING is completely spoon-fed to the audience. I loved coming out of the theater and just thinking about it, trying to connect dots, still awed by the sheer beauty of the movie. For these things, while I can't recommend it, The Fountain gets my approval.
