The 2006 ALDS: New York Yankees VS. Detroit Tigers
yanks grounds crew are the worst at handling these situations....they could have been playing the whole time This situation was not handled by the Yankees grounds-crew. It was taken much higher up, believe that. How do you know, were you there? They went to the commisioner. They said it on ESPN.

What was Verlander's line when he faced Yanks this season? Don't remember the exact line, but I know he got roughed up and hit the showers early. :lol I hope the Yanks get swept by anyone, don't care who it is .. Thanks for the update.

FSL top 20 prospects (according to BA)
Hughes played the great majority of his season in the Eastern League and Garza's prolonged call to the higher levels/majors torched his eligiblity as well.

The 2006 ALDS: New York Yankees VS. Detroit Tigers
Wow, a bunch of you getting ahead of yourselfs after 1 DS game, eh? I wasn't basing my statement off this game. I felt that way before the game, and really feel confident about it now. There are no holes. And the Yankees are THAT much better than everyone else. I know, I just thought '04 would kill any of those feelings for good. That said, I picked the yankees weeks ago and I still would be suprised if they don't win it all. In 2004 you never felt safe. Going into that series I knew (whether I admitted that outloud or not is another story) that the Red Sox were the better team and was shocked that the Yankees were up 3-0. This year is different, not only do I think the Yankees are the best team, I don't think anyone else is even close. We'll see what happens.

Names of players indicated in Banned Drug Case Released
None of them are all that surprising. Seeing as Grimsley was dead-on about Segui, I don't see why he would make the other 5 players up. They definitely did it. Now lets prove it and ban their asses.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Liked the premiere. Wasn't overly impressed, but I did enjoy it. I've loved most of Sorkin's other work, and this definitely had a Sorkin-edge to it. I'll know this week whether I'm going to follow it long term.

Best choice for manager in 2007?
Fredi Gonzalez would be fine, his bio does look impressive and even when he took over a couple of games in 1999 when John Boles was out of time he did well. Also I like the presence of a Latin Manager and it would just make Cabrera and the other guys feel better. Cabrera is fighting for the batting title. I would say he feels pretty good already. But why aren't you worried about how the "Anglo" players feel. Are you some king of bigot? What about Uggla. Let's get a Swedish-American manager for him; and a Texan for Josh Johnson, and maybe a black manager since Willis is our highest paid player. And what about Willingham, Hermida, Abercrombie, Olsen, Borowski, Messenger, Moehler, Treanor, Helms, Jacobs, Borchard, Ross, etc. We certainly can't hire a "Latin" and piss off all those non-Latin players , now, can we? Stop with the ethnic BS. Like Fredi because he has talent, not because he's "Latin." Funniest post I've read in a long time. Good run, my friend. Anyone who says "Are you some kind of bigot?" with a straight face always gets a laugh out of me. Nicely done.

Flags of Our Fathers/Letters From Iwo Jima
I hope Clint Eastwood doesn't ruin what could be the greatest movie of all time and turn it into some depressing sh*tty drama. FoOF is more drama than war movie. Much more character oriented.

Top Rookies for MLB this year
I have been one of Papelbons biggest supporters, but he has 6 blown saves. That is not one of the top 5 seasons for a closer all-time. Who cares if the closer gives up a run when his team is up 3? Isn't it more important that he doesn't give up the run when his team is up 1? I'm assuming you're using 'had' as an escape clause, though, so I won't even bother to continue. I'd still rank him 3rd behind Verlander and Liriano. Well actually I'm incorrect since his CEI (RA+ x (Saves x 2 ? SvOpp) x (162 / TeamG)) has gone down a little bit since the last time I did the calulations but he actually has the 6th best season with a CEI of 151.88. Jose Mesa 1995 183.7 Dennis Eckersley 1990 178.3 Eric Gagne 2003 171.1 Rollie Fingers 1981 163.5 Mike Jackson 1998 155.9 Jonathan Papelbon 2006 151.88 I didn't use 'had' as an escape clause but used it as his season is over. I'm fine with putting him 3rd. :thumbup I'm not even going to act like I know what that stat is or how respected it is among the sabermetric community. What I do know is this: 6 blown saves out of 41 chances is not that good. It's solid, but it's definitely not top 5 all-time.

From bad to worse in Boston
When ESPN has the exact same statistic, yet Jeter has vastly better numbers in it, I'd consider that statistic to be disputed, thus the statistic is really up to inteperation. This causes the lack of credibility.

From bad to worse in Boston
Derek Jeter does not deserve the MVP. I don't see how you can possibly make a case that Derek Jeter absolutely DOES NOT deserve the MVP. I feel 4-5 players are plenty deserving, and I could make a pretty rich case for any of them. I think a guy who goes an entire season without an extra base hit in "close and late" situations does not deserve the MVP. He's a good player having a good season but he's no MVP. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...amp;compare.y=8 Close and late is a disputed stat, it has no crediblity.
