That's what I though when I saw the preview. I mean, we ALL know what happened. It only happened 5 freaking years ago. Talk about trying to make money off a tragedy. And quick.

Oliver Stone has been off of the map since the early 90s. I think he's looking for an easy way back in.

 

He did Alexander last year, whilst it sucked, it managed to do well at the box office, atleast the first couple of weeks.

ehh I don't think so. It made 34 million in the US with a budget of around 200 million. Thats a pretty huge bust.

 

Stone has made some really great movies, not sure what happened to him.

It's getting good reviews so far. I'm still not gonna see it, just like I didn't see United 93. But maybe one day years from now I'll sit down and watch them. I don't think this country's ready for a regular stream of 9/11 movies, but I could be wrong.

Unless 100% of profits are donated to some 9/11 charity or something of that nature, I will not PAY MONEY to see it, that doesn't mean I won't still see it though :thumbup .

America loves films about national disasters. However, I agree. Partly. While the story should be told and remembered, it is too early to make it into a film.

 

But if they were going to do it, they should've made it better than this.

While I personally won't see it and think it's too soon to be made into a movie, everyone who HAS seen it (critics) have raved about it. It's in the hunt for Best Picture this year according to people who know better than me. I don't know why you think it's going to be so bad (yes, the trailer is awful, but you can't base EVERYTHING on a trailer).

 

I will sit through it if it gets nominated for Best Picture, only because I watch all Best Picture nominees every year.

I actually remember this story unfolding on the news. No survivors of the buildings were found, but some firefighters were rescued after the towers collapsed. I'll watch it for sure, and I can almost guarantee that a portion of the profits will be put toward some charity/cause.

the preview reminded me of the movie Ladder 49..that was pretty good. but this is too soon for the 9/11 stuff again. i remember being pulled out of school when it happened.

The average 9/11 payout was $1 million. Do they really need money? I think it'd be better donated to just about any other charitable organization.

also the trailer gives away the whole story that they survive yada..yada..yada. So now that i know the story theres no need for me to see Hollywood replicate the attacks

There are dozens 9/11 charities which have NOTHING to do with the families of victims. Several fallen police officer and firefighter charities, among other things.

10% for the first 5 days, what a cop out.

I don't know how you can say that's a "cop out". First week is generally the most profitable one, unless you expect this movie to be Titanic-like (as in #1 movie for 3 months), then I can consider it a "cop out".
