1. "Every single person sitting there was saying either sit down or jump off," Tripi said after the three friends were questioned by NYPD officers." Yep, thats about right. 'Either sit the hell down or kill yourself, hurry up - We're trying to watch the game!'
2. He is undoubtedly taking steroids. No one in baseball does good without them. Someone get him to pee in a cup!
3. No, the Yankees bullpen is fine. They need starting pitching, the Yankees have no interest in adding a garbage mop up pitcher. The Red Sox didn't care the Yankees got Al Leiter and Hideo Nomo (AAA) and the Yankees don't care about the Red Sox getting stuff off the scrap heap either. If he was a garbage starting pitcher, we might have some interest. But, keep jabbing Rune, every dog finds a bone sometimes. Maybe you'll actually come up with something good on your next try.
4. The guy has a 5 ERA, I dont think the Yankees care.
5. http://fhfs.ruonthelevel.com/ FHFS is a league that was created in 2001, and has run smoothly ever since. It has dedicated owners, a detailed minor league system, salary system and CBA. We just moved from our old site www.fhfs.org , but shouldnt be moving again anytime soon. I can honestly say this is one of the best leagues out there, period. Washington, Baltimore and Boston are the teams available. Anaheim may be available as well. The league is very, very complex, so it is for dedicated diehards only who have a great knowledge of minor league ball and major league ball. If you have any interest AIM me - Shockey80NY
6. What are Verlanders #s and what's his ETA 892556 September 2005/April 2006. 0.26 ERA in 6 AA starts - If memory serves me correctly, I'm doing it off the top of my head. This is his first season of pro-ball. Im an avid minor league baseball fan, so I decided to throw my top 10 prospects out there. 1.Felix Hernandez - Amazing. If he is truley 19 years old, he is the best pitching prospect of the past 20 years. The Mariners are yet to even let him throw his best pitch, his slider (80/80 on the scouting scale) - still he has simply dominated at every level. 2.Delmon Young - Flat out, the kid can mash. He hits anything and everything, Vlad style. Unfortunately, he does have a flaw, that will certainly be exposed at the next level, he doesn't take pitches. Luckily, it's not a fatal flaw however and it can and will be improved as he continues to mature as a hitter. Nevertheless, he is the lock of the century. 3.Justin Verlander - Amazing stuff. While it was questionable in the offseason, he has in fact been able to harness it. With a fastball touching 100 MPH at times, but settling in at 96 MPH and 2 other plus pitches - Verlander is set up to be one of the great pitchers of the next era. 4.Prince Fielder - Despite putting up poor numbers this year, he's still one of the best pure power hitters in recent memory. He seems to lose confidence/focus at times and goes into prolonged funks. 5.Conor Jackson - He's just a masher. Future multiple time batting champion, he also quite possibly has the best plate discipline in the minors. If he didn't suck on defense, this kid would be getting unbelievable hype after flirting with .400 early on in the season. 6.Jeremy Hermida 7.Stephen Drew 8.Andy Marte 9.Lastings Milledge 10.Brian Anderson 892726 Great list! I would just put Delmon Young at #1 and not include Brian Anderson but good stuff. 893000 Im a lot higher on Brian Anderson than a lot of people. But, he is a legit 40 homer prospect, with a good eye and great SLG% potential. I see him as a 290/35/110 player at the next level.
7. Because a good start with Al Leiter is the exception, not the rule. nobody is going to be leaping for joy if he gives you one solid outing in the middle of three bad ones 892761 The ratio is actually 2 to 3. So the numbers are essentially even since he has become a Yankee. Gotta come up with a better excuse then that.
8. Im disturbed by the fact that Al Leiter gets ripped a new one everytime he has a bad start for the Yankees, and people continue to say "He's got nothing left", but then when he goes 6 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 2 walks - that everyone is deafeningly silent. Where is the "Al Leiter owns Blue Jays" thread? I thought he had nothing left? This is the same Blue Jay team that ripped the "best team in baseball" last week. But, now, I'm sure you are all going to tell me how "lucky" he was, or how "6 innings of shutout ball isnt a good start" just like last time. I've got the crow in the oven, and I want you to swallow every last drop of it. 892707 He had one fluke outing against the Red Sox, and today he pitched well. Big deal. Yanks are still going nowhere and Leiter is still done. Calm down. 892712 I cant wait to watch your team lose in the 1st round of the playoffs. I've never seen a more overrated team in the past 10 years...oh wait, yes I have, the last ChiSox team that won over 100 games! Enjoy beating up on the 2nd worst division in baseball! Bet dominating the Royals, Tigers, Twins and Tribe feels real good, unfortunately for you, they don't matter in October. 892715 My deepest apologies that you have gone to the "let's bring up history" approach. You fail to mention your team though, because they aren't any good in the present. If you are having mood swing problems like this, maybe you should find somewhere other than a message board to relieve the stress. Have a nice day, and enjoy Al Leiter! :thumbup 892732 My deepest apologies that you have gone to the"he's crazy, and his team sucks. That means I win approach". Because you have nothing to differentiate this White Sox team from the last one. They both had massive regular seasons and blew it/will blow it in the playoffs. I will be proud to make my signature "THE WHITE SOX ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER!!!" for the rest of my time at Marlinsbaseball if they win a first round series this year. 892738 Our team 5 years ago wasn't nearly as good. Doesn't mean we wll go anywhere in these playoffs, but at least we have actual pitching now. And I will remember that 2nd part of your post. Enjoy your day sir, and please attempt to gain control of your Al Leiter boner. 892743 I dont think Al Leiter is a good pitcher, in fact, when he takes the mound for the Yankees I cringe. He's not even going to be in the Yankee rotation much longer anyway. But what I don't appreciate is the double standard. Why when Al pitches bad is he "done" and threads pop up about how bad his one freaking start was, and then when he does good there is a deafening silence here? Why is he lucky when he wins, but then is "done" when he has his next bad start? Everyone has bad starts, I don't make threads everytime proclaiming they're done. It's a clear double standard. My point is to just loosen the hell up around here, enough with making your great proclaimations of "done" and give everyone their fair share of props when they earn it.

Is it that hard to understand?

14. Looks like he had a bad breakup with Under the Sheets Jetes and now he's on the outs with the mighty Rod. In all seriousness - A-Rod, Jeter and Sheffield are all good friends. Gary has complimented them both numerous times. Its not like they all hate eachother. I know for a fact Jeter, Sheff, Giambi and Posada all were at A-Rods birthday party, so I dont think they really have any problems. Its just that Gary sometimes gets out of control with his mouth, and spouts off. He's one of those players who your going to get a good story like this about once or twice a year. It's something you have to deal with.
15. Will this be considered another great start? 886367 5 innings 1 run 2 innings 5 runs I think you can see the difference, dumbass.
16. You don't just GET opportunities when you're in a championship chase, you earn them. 'nuff said. 882584 how can he earn them if he dosent play? 882912 24 games pitched, a 5 ERA. He had his shot. He sucked. Embree has more potential to be an asset to the Yankees than Buddy Groom.

The Yankees bullpen is a weak point? If the starter goes 5 innings with one or no runs that is a GREAT start. The Yankees bullpen 7-8-9 is THE BEST in baseball. Felix Rodriguez is also proving himself to be a very good middle reliever. I dont care if Al Leiter allows the bases to get loaded every single god damn inning, as long as none of them cross the plate. In case some of you missed it, that's all that matters, the ones that cross the plate. Orlando Hernandez used to load the bases every single inning and would find a way out of it without giving up a run. It worked out then, it's working out now. I know you would rather die then say "good job" to a Yankee player, particularly one we stole from you for free, but don't be ridiculous. 5 innings 1 run is a great start. It's an ERA under 2, and with the Yankees 7-8-9 inning combination, it almost certainly assures a victory on most nights. And the Yankees don't need a firstbaseman, in case you missed it, Jason Giambi leads the league in OBP and has a SLG% in the mid 500's.

Nomo isn't in the Yankees rotation. He is being sent to AAA to rehab. If he has anything, the Yankees will give him a shot as Im sure another pitcher goes on the DL. No team with 5 starters on the DL gets away with it, just be thankful it isnt you. BTW - Everyone laughed at the Al Leiter signing, but he has had 2 great starts out of 3, so really, who's laughing now? The Yankees got him for 400K. You say its comical the Yankees sign Leiter (2/3 great starts) and Nomo (AAA Insurance Policy) yet the Yankees are the ones heading for the playoffs and the Marlins are the ones tied for last place. Enjoy golfing in October ladies.
20. Good signing. The Spurs seemingly have another year with an amazing bench.
21. Any team with 5 DL'd starters would have to call up scrubs like this. Injury bug!
22. He wasn't pitching tonight.
23. Das: They still have a 5 million dollar exception to work with that they acquired in the Kenyon Martin trade. If they acquire SAR with the MLE, which they almost certainly won't end up using - they'll probably use the exception - the Nets can then use the TE + 2nd round picks to acquire bench players. If the MLE is not spent on SAR, which I can almost guarantee it won't be (Portland has NO leverage. They should take the conditional first or two seconds) the Nets can then split their MLE on two bench players. Its basically like having two MLE except you have to compensate the team that your signing the free agent off of. 866016 except that portland at this point has demanded a first round pick that is unprotected. and you can only use the trade exception once if i recall...so if they use the MLE on SAR then that really allows them to pick up one more guy.... and that exception expires on july 29, so they better use it soon. the only leverage portland has is whether or not they want to be a dick or not. i wouldnt put it past that franchise to be a dick. 866391 You can split up the TE as much and in any way that you want. The Nets already used part of the TE on Easy E and Uncle Cliffy. Thats why they only have 5 million of the TE left. So they can get two different players out of it. But, you're correct it does expire July 29th. Portland should settle for 2 seconds or the conditional first the Nets offered - I dont see why they wouldn't. I'd rather get a conditional first and a 5 million dollar trade exception than nothing. But, maybe they'll just try to be jerkoffs, who knows.

25. If you add the Nets starters heights and all the Heats starters heights...The Nets have a heavy advantage. You can call them soft (Carter, SAR), but they are a pretty big team.
