I think this is the best new show of the season, by far. The first two episodes are 10/10. Absolutely outstanding. Glenn Close, Rose Byrne and Ted Danson are mesmerizing. The supporting cast is also incredible. Just fantastic entertainment.
  2. Sidenote: The Phranchise - 2.0 IP 0 H 4 K Final line: 4.2 IP 7 H 6 ER 2 BB 5 K Got screwed in the third inning with some flares and a foul ball that was called fair. The bad news is he lost 4-5 MPHs off his fastball in the second inning. I've never seen that happen without someone being hurt.

  4. This is a tough question because there's a lot of different ways to approach it. If I had to give it a shot though...: 1. Don Vito Corleone 2. Hannibal Lecter 3. Scarlett O?Hara 4. Randle Patrick McMurphy 5. Tyler Durden 6. V 7. Rick Blaine 8. George Bailey 9. Andy Dufresne 10. Jules Winnfield

I'm assuming that's also why Tom Cruise and Jude Law aren't in the movie.
  6. My friend has a dog named Mike. I like Goobers.
  7. By the way, that trailer description from a week or so ago was obviously fake. But they should have had that guy piece the whole thing together. Would have been an upgrade over this. Apparently we'll get a full length trailer around December. It wasn't fake. WB made about 4 teasers. I'm not sure if the other 3 are going to be released into theaters, but the Harvey Dent ad was most likely real.
  8. I realize I'm apparently the only one on this site particularly into the viral marketing campaign for this movie but: http://www.whysoserious.com This'll be my last post on the subject, but if you do have an active interest check out batman-on-film.com or superherohype.com for details as they come.

I love how they just throw Haley in there like he got a some minor supporting role. "Haley and Akerman round out the cast as Rorschach, a vigilante, and Silk Spectre, the key femme role." Yikes.
  11. The market for bullpen help is ridiculous. Best to look in-house.
  12. I'm assuming that Teixeira means Lowell's walking at the end of the year, but where would he bat now (after the Ortiz health is all sorted out)? You just sit Youkilis? And I think it'd be a tough pill for Steinbrenner to swallow if Chamberlain and Sanchez is enough to get him to the Bronx. That's a deal that gets done. Years ago, you'd be right. Fortunately the Tampa faction doesn't run the Yankees baseball operations anymore. Chamberlain isn't going anywhere. The Yankees are set up to have one of the best rotations in baseball for a long time if they just hold pat. Unless the Yankees are getting an incredible deal, Joba will stay. 1. Hughes 2. Free Agent Signing (Zambrano/Santana, etc) 2. Chamberlain 4. Wang 5. Horne/Kennedy I think Ellsbury is quite overrated and I'm not a big fan, what do you have against Ellsbury? Nothing at all, I think he'll be Dustin Pedroia with a lot more stolen bases in terms of a major league player, and that's pretty darn good. But a lot of people seem to think he's some great thing, but he has no power, and unlike a MIF like Pedroia, he's an outfielder. That's a pretty good player, but not nearly a top prospect/futures game savior type or anything, and if the Red Sox have to package him to get something really good at the deadline, they should do it, especially if they can do it and keep Buchholz. In review, I shouldn't say I'm not a big fan because if he's like I think he'll be at the MLB level, I will enjoy watching him play. But I do think he is pretty darn overrated, soon to be 24 year old OF's with very little power aren't any sort of great thing, even if they can steal a lot of bases and get on base a ton. Good yes, a bit above average as a MLB player likely, but not like top 25 prospect in baseball good. Jacoby Ellsbury is old for his league (prospect-wise) and his OPS is below .700. He is the most overrated prospect in baseball outside of Brandon Wood. It's not to say he can't be a decent slap hitter at the major league level, but his relative value as a prospect is extremely low. Every organization has their Jacoby Ellsbury-types, but for some reason his hype level is getting blown up without merit. If I'm the Red Sox, I'm not trading Buchholz in a package unless I'm getting an elite starter in return. While he doesn't have an incredibly high upside (most likely a #2 in the majors), his floor is also much higher than usual. He is as near a can't miss prospect as there can be. Regardless, I don't see Teixeira getting dealt before the deadline, and rightfully so. I don't think the Rangers can get fair value for him (he's being grossly underrated in this thread, he IS a star at his position). I imagine the deadline as a whole will be relatively quiet.
  13. Good for him....Before this year I wasn't much of a fan of Papi, but now...first he backs Bonds, and now he sticks it to Steiner If A-Rod had done this...imagine the outcry.

It doesn't make sense to boot Shields out of that rotation in the future, unless they trade him for relievers or a catcher. Unfortunately for the D-Rays, they don't really have a quality catching prospect down on the farm. I would also watch out for ANOTHER good outfield prospect who isn't that well known right now but has been playing very well, Desmond Jennings. It makes plenty of sense to boot Shields out of that rotation in the future. Young pitchers get booted out of the rotation all the time. He's not going to make it through 4 turns on an MLB lineup, but his stuff is enough to work for one turn. He's been getting beaten up quite a bit lately. He'd be an effective 7th or 8th inning arm. Edwin Jackson is the same way. -- Obviously, I got a little sidetracked when filling out the lineup. The second BJ Upton could easily be replaced by Guzman, Baldelli or even Jennings who was mentioned earlier. Or Upton may easily remain in the outfield with Harris taking second base. It depends how those lesser outfield prospects pan out.

i dont care how many young good position players they have...if they have no pitching...it doesnt make a difference and that is why Tampa and Texas will never win a world series the pitching is getting close :thumbup Right on -- 1. Kazmir 2. Price 3. Davis 4. McGee 5. Niemann Yikes. That's scary. Hellickson should be a good pen arm. I think Edwin Jackson could actually be a pretty good set-up man or closer if he can build some confidence. Shields will be fairly solid out of the pen as well. Pair that with: 1B: Carlos Pena 2B: BJ Upton 3B: Evan Longoria SS: Reid Brignac OF: Delmon Young OF: Carl Crawford OF: BJ Upton Too bad Rocco Baldelli can't stay on the field. They are stacked.
  16. I also don't like Mets_bs and yenta.
  17. Yes. That was just a fake fan teaser that had been put together based on a teaser description rumor that had been making the rounds. Oh and for those interested,
  18. Teaser with The Simpsons Movie. Sounds cool.

Why is it all the female users introduce themselves and the male users do not? Just saying.
  21. I originally wrote a long post about this whole issue, but I read a better one on nyyfans.com and figured I'd just quote it here: Somebody alert the Pullitzer Committee. In a remarkable piece of journalism, Buster Olney has pretty much stated that A-Rod is opting out. Unless he doesn't. Oh, noes. The Post and News are printing articles about how A-Rod is leaving. Back home, we had a name for that......."selling newspapers." This is all nothing more than a chess game. There's no "do nothing" option. The Yankees will need to offer a very lucrative extension BEFORE Alex opts out. That way, they get to keep the Texas revenue for the next few years. If and when Alex opts out, that revenue is gone. The more posturing that goes on NOW, the sweeter the pot for the extension that will be offered. Cashman needs to get Boras (and A-Rod) thinking that the extension from the Yankees is for more $$ than he's going to get from somebody else. Between now and November 10th, everything you read and hear will be dedicated to a single purpose.....drive the Yankees' extension offer into the stratosphere. -- Maynerd
  22. Rooting for Rios and Fielder. Rios really doesn't have a HR hitting swing though. We'll see what happens.

That's probably the worst top 100 I've ever seen. Disregard it entirely. Awful.
  24. '90s. The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Goodfellas, Schindler's List, The Usual Suspects, Silence of the Lambs, Fargo, Magnolia, Reservoir Dogs, Being John Malkovich - just to name a few off the top of my head. The 90s also featured the indy boom which has given us a great many classic films. It also spotlighted the animation rebirth, with companies like Pixar taking animated movies to the next level. I'm sure if you do a ridiculously long analysis of the decades, you may find a better overall decade, but for me it's as good as it gets.
