  1. Tomorrow morning should be very interesting...is Samson really hosting Hank's show???
  2. As Cambridge Marlin pointed out in a previous post...Anibal Sanchez turned in a solid performance the other night...unfortunately for Carolina, Mobley could not hold on for the save. Can't wait to see Sanchez up with the Fish. Chattanooga, TN --- Anderson Machado singled home pinch-runner Chris Dickerson with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to cap a two-run rally as Chattanooga edged Carolina 4-3 at BellSouth Park in the Lookouts' home opener. Leading 3-2 in the ninth, Carolina's Chris Mobley could not close the door on the Mudcats' fourth straight win. A bloop single began the inning by Noochie Varner, but Mobley recorded the next two outs before hitting former Mudcat Javier Colina on the first pitch. Miguel Perez lined a 1-1 pitch over Mobley's glove into center to bring home Varner to tie the game ahead of Machado's game winning liner to right-center. Anibal Sanchez allowed a first inning run and then a solo homer to former major leaguer Alex Sanchez in the sixth, but was strong throughout. Sanchez pitched a staff-long eight innings, permitting just four hits and fanning five for his no-decision. Carolina took a 2-1 lead in the second inning against another ex-big leaguer Jung Bong, who pitched for the Atlanta Braves. Ryan Bear slugged the team's first home run to lead off the inning, then Patrick Arlis smoked a grounder off of Bong's glove with runners at the corners to score the second run. The lead grew to 3-1 in the fourth when Arlis' infield single in the shortstop hole scored Kevin Randel for the second time in the game. Randel collected a season-high three hits, while Rex Rundgren and Bear had two hits respectively.
  3. Who's starting today's game thread? We need some new karma. Who can bring us the W? How about a W from Admin W? :mischief2
  4. Nolasco will take Moehlers spot, in fact probably already has. Johnson will go down to get ready to take Mitre's spot. YOU get a clue. Okay...I'll give you a pass on that one...didn't realize you had Moe out of the rotation already. In any case, I don't think Mitre will be leaving the rotation any time soon. JJ might be the guy to get traded...loved to see him dealt for a young outfielder.
  5. Probably Johnson so he can get starts in AAA until it is time to take Mitre's spot in the rotation @ some point in the season. It will be Moehler not Mitre...get a clue Spike.
  6. Hank's suggestion is that one of the (publically) behind the scenes groups like the Beacon Council get involved and find an out-of-the-box solution without politics getting in the way. For those who don't know, the Beacon Council is probably the single most prestigious and quietly powerful pro-business forum in South Florida. Not much gets done without their imprimatur. In previous months they have come out in favor of finding a local solution to keep the Fish in South Florida. My guess is that this is already ongoing and Hank has gotten wind of it. A Marlins exodus is bad for business and no one understands that better than the Beacon Council. Exactly right...Hank specifically mentioned the Beacon Council and referred to the now defunct "Miami Sports Authority." He also made mention of how the Orange Bowl Committee is no longer relevant since they have done away with the parade and the BCS picks the team that will play. Supposedly the OB Committee was once a powerful group as well. Perhaps some of these individuals can come together and help save baseball in South Florida? Beacon Council Orange Bowl Committee

He got the start at catcher last night and went 2-4 (2 singles). He'd make a very awesome offensive prospect if he could develop into an average catcher. wow. That sounds familiar... :shifty
  8. Dade and the Marlins desperately need some outside thought, but I don't think either would be willing to turn over the project You're probably right...maybe they need to look "outside the box" a bit. It's not like their making significant progress on their own.
  9. Reed - CF HanRam - SS Cabs - 3B Jake - 1B Willy - C Ugg - 2B Gila - LF Abe - RF Moe - P No Hermy or Olivo today...
  10. Will there be a consensus #1 in this draft? Any Ovechkin's or Crosby's out there???
  11. I think Hank has no problem with motivation. If he needs help, we are sure more than willing to give it to him. Sounds good Cape...please try and send him an email. I'll let you know if he responds to me. hankgoldberg@wqam.com :thumbup
  12. Pinto goes six shutout innings to lead the Topes to a 4-1 victory over Omaha. Homeruns for Shanks & Wood. Pinto's line - 6 INN, 2H, 0R, 0ER, 4BB, 6K's :thumbup 3 more K's for LT - now batting .091
  13. Hammerheads sweep Vero Story Tools Email this story | Print By staff reports April 12, 2006 JUPITER ? The Jupiter Hammerheads handed the Vero Beach Dodgers 3-1 and 1-0 losses at Roger Dean Stadium on Tuesday. The teams played a doubleheader due to Monday night's rainout. In the first game, Jupter scored single runs in the second, third and sixth. J.T. Restko drove in two of the three runs for the Hammerheads. Vero Beach's Ryan Carter led off the seventh with a triple, but the Dodgers left him in scoring position. The Dodgers recorded just two singles in the second game. Jupiter had just three hits, but its one run in the second was enough for the win. :thumbup
  14. As much as I can't stand him, if you have Hank on your side, you can get things done. One of the stadium blog guys (Cape, Festa, etc.) should send him an email...if he gets some positive response it might help his motivation level. I emailed him earlier today. :thumbup
  15. Umm...how many more losses before Ramp gets the boot as Game Thread starter? I think some new karma might be in order. :mischief2
  16. I couldn't believe it was Hank...he actually said - "I'm going to save the Marlins."
  17. I'm more interested in today's attendance. Not sure today's or tomorrow's attendance will be true indicator either. I think the weekend series against the Nats will probably be the most realistic numbers.
  18. Anyone listen to Hank this morning? I only caught the tale end of his rant about the stadium situation. He was actually very positive this morning. He was calling for a committee of key Dade County "movers & shakers" ala the Orange Bowl Committee to be put together to help solve the stadium quandary. Hank spoke about getting the politicos out of the mix and putting it in the hands of the real decision makers in Dade. He suggested some well respected individuals to head the committee. He dubbed his view the "Goldberg Plan" and vowed to save the Marlins. Pretty shocking stuff coming from Hank. Did anyone else catch this?
  19. Since it's packed in here and I saw no thread, what did people think of the lopsided suspensions/fine given to the Nats as opposed to nothing to the mets? What's your problem? Why would you pose this question in a game thread???
  20. K For Giles ??? :confused
  21. Real smart considering Olivo is hitting .200 and was 0-4 last game and Willingham had two homers in one game and is hitting .333. Shouldn't you be comparing Olivo's stats to Aguila and/or Reed not Willingham's??? :mischief2
  22. Awesome...thanks for the update. Volstad :notworthy
  23. Thanks for the Chick update...I seem to remember him having a horrendous season last year in the Padre system. Maybe a change of scenery will do him well...

Good stuff...thanks for posting. Nice to see Tank record the save. Looking forward to seeing him in the Marlin pen later this year. :thumbup
