  1. willis mitre nolasco and vargas when he comes back up its kinda cool...to have some respectable hitters instead of automatic outs do you think baseball is moving towards pitchers having to be able to hit as well? Sure just look at all those AL pitchers that hit so well. They get HR after HR Josh Beckett... :notworthy
  2. Flip the switch baby! Now is the time... :thumbup
  3. Btw went to to all 3 games this weekend against the devil rays if the marlins had the trop despite the fact it is not one of the best stadiums out there the marlins would draw 30k a night , this was the first time I have watched a marlins game and didnt leave wet from rain , burned from the sun and heat , and left with some money in my pocket as i did not have to spend 35 bucks on water to prevent dehydration . I like what the new ownership is doing with the rays the marlins ownership should take some notes Yes...interesting info indeed. I heard they are offering free parking all season. Hopefully a new stadium will allow Loria & Co to become more creative - since they will be in control of all things stadium related. :thumbup
  4. I'd take Marrero in a heart beat...
  5. Any chance this kid will last until pick #19??? :mischief2
  6. It's all part of the game. Do you think Rayz fans regret selecting Josh Hamilton over Josh Beckett??? :mischief2

  9. Heywood Jagof***yaself? :shifty
  10. post the real names of the people Board regulars are quite familiar with the names that were listed. I guess a soccer fan wouldn't understand. sheesh...
  11. Why would him bring Herges in? This game is over. Why not Pinto? What's the point of wasting Herges again??? What about Wellemeyer? I don't understand Girardi.
  12. Currently would think about taking college closer in the Street/Hansen mould, given that the draft is so pitching strong again..... Then again there is no point in not taking the best available player, even if that happens to be another starting pitcher. As much as I like Street, I would have to pass. You need to take an impact player with your first pick. Wow...how can you not consider Street an impact player? He was a star last season...has had some arm issues thus far, but is still considered one of the top closer in the AL. Billy Beane's no dummy!
  13. Uggz Kool Aid Cabs Willy JoBo Jake Treanor Dino :mischief2
  14. Hmmm...is this some sort of Republican conspiracy??? :mischief2
  15. I love interleague play. Long live Bud Selig... :notworthy
  16. BALTIMORE - Josh Beckett growled yesterday at the first reporter inquiring about a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. "I don't have (an expletive) blister," Beckett said. "Look at my (expletive) finger." Beckett displayed his right hand, which revealed no redness, swelling or roughness on the finger in question. It looked pretty normal upon the quick check, which is good news given the pitcher's history of blister problems that have landed him on the disabled list. "I'm pissed. I really am. This is (expletive) stupid," said Beckett, who was upset about all the speculation on TV, as well as a newspaper report calling the back into question. "My dad calls me. He thinks I'm lying to him. That's it. I'm done talking to you guys for the year." CONTINUED... Man...I love Beckett. :thumbup
  17. Expedition Everest is awesome...
  18. Well since Ligtenberg isn't an option...any thoughts on Joe Horgan? I noticed he's pitching with 'Topes. He's a lefty reliever who had a decent amount of success with the Nationals a year or so ago. Can he throw strikes??? :mischief2
  19. Herges, Wellemeyer, etc. are fungible veteran options. Even if terrible, they serve a role. I wish they would be league average or better. But alas, I am waiting until they get pushed aside by better arms that fit the franchise. I really like the decision to send Vargas down. Not because he's a bad pitcher or needed to be punished, but mainly it shows that a player will be held accountable for his actions on the field even in a rebuilding year. Where did Ligtenberg end up? He's pretty fungible as well. :mischief2
  20. Was it really necessary to suspend the team? It looks like everyone is laughing and having a fun time. I'm not sure with the uproar is about. They are in college, right? :mischief2
  21. San Antonio pulls stadium offer for Marlins By Sarah Talalay South Florida Sun-Sentinel Posted May 15 2006, 8:27 PM EDT San Antonio pulled its offer of $200 million for a stadium for the Marlins on Monday after Major League Baseball said it could not yet allow the team to relocate. In a letter to Major League Baseball, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, the San Antonio politician leading the effort to lure the Marlins, said the time frame to approve a November ballot measure and launch a campaign to ask voters to extend hotel and rental car taxes raised for the San Antonio Spurs' arena necessitated a response by Monday. Wolff was responding to a letter from MLB President Bob DuPuy, who said the Marlins and Baseball are focused on completing a stadium financing deal in South Florida. DuPuy, however, commended the city for positioning itself as a potential relocation market and left open the possibility that talks could resume with the Texas city, if a stadium deal is not reached in Florida. "The work you have done will not be in vain, since you will have positioned your city to be strongly considered for a future Major League Baseball team," DuPuy wrote. "If the Marlins do not reach a successful conclusion, we would, of course, intensify our discussions with you." Wolff said San Antonio would welcome the chance to continue talks. "We would happily reengage in discussions with both the Marlins and MLB, but only when the Marlins and MLB finally determine that they want to move the franchise to San Antonio," Wolff wrote. After holding a news conference with San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger and Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed Monday afternoon, Wolff wished the team luck in its stadium talks. "Hopefully [the Marlins] will get [their] deal done," he said. The Marlins are in discussions with Miami-Dade County and city of Hialeah officials about financing a ballpark on land east of Florida's Turnpike between Northwest 170th and 154th streets. "We are aware of today's communication between Major League Baseball and Bexar County officials," Marlins President David Samson said in a statement. "We've always stated South Florida is our first priority but continue to recognize San Antonio as a viable relocation option."

He currently has slightly better numbers against RHBs, but as its just a 18 2/3 inning sample size it doesnt show any definitive trends. http://www.angelfire.com/nb/jms/milb/CarSL...lor+TankersleyP By the way you can get splits for minor leaguers from the link below, they arent updated daily but its pretty good for a free resource. http://www.brewcrewball.com/special/milb+splits Excellent info...thanks for sharing!

Anyone have his numbers vs. left-handed batters? Are we looking at a future LH specialist perhaps??? :mischief2
  24. 18 seems about right since we're losing our stud LBs and WRs... but not many teams will want to mess with the Big Tens best QB and RB. Tate's senior season in renovated Kinnick and Albert Young running for a Heisman.. man, I can't wait. Will Iowa be losing to Northwestern at home or on the road this year??? :mischief2
  25. Why don't you list the title here? Someone else might be able to locate it for you. :thumbup
