More focus on the development of a strong minor league system will get them back. The core of those great Yankee teams were Jeter, Williams, Posada, Pettite and Rivera - home grown talent cultivated down on the farm.

Watching the game last night...I almost felt like it was some bizzare All-Star Game...neither team has a true identity...the majority of players are just bought. Watching Johnson, Schilling, Sheffield, ARod, Wells, ManRam, Damon, Renteria, etc. So many have established themselves on other teams. It will be worse today when it's Pavano vs. Clement. Now that Jeter, Bernie, Posada and Rivera are getting up in age, I wonder if a Yankee farmhand will ever again make the majors!

Just for you Marlins2003... Mariners claim Valdez from Mets SEATTLE -- The Seattle Mariners claimed infielder Wilson Valdez off waivers from the New York Mets. Valdez, 26, spent last season with the Chicago White Sox, playing in 19 games, hitting .233 (10-for-43) with a home run and four RBI. :o

Both need to get in the mold of playing every day which they will do at ABQ. Neither one displayed consistency during the past fews weeks of ST. Some abs at ABQ will possibly find them back with the big club prior to roster expansion in September. Willingham provides more versatility as far as positions while Dillon is somewhat limited. Dillon has more power, while Willingham has a better command of the strike zone and plate discipline. 726308[/snapback] Well said. Both are better off in ALB.
