Wilson Valdez on the move again
Knowing the way baseball is...he'll probably end up signing with the Muts and will someday have a key hit to beat the Marlins. Hopefully Wilson Delgado will do something similar to the Muts this year! :thumbup

Wilson Valdez on the move again
I sure wouldn't mind Wilson Valdez back in our organization again but I suspect the front office is high enough on Robert Andino that he's not a priority. 724134 Not quite sure what your fascination is with him...was he out of options in Chicago? I'm surprised Ozzie couldn't find a spot for him in the organization. I'd rather have Wilson Delgado.

Today's opponent: St. Louis Cardinals When/where: 1:05 p.m., Roger Dean Stadium, Jupiter. TV/radio: None. Marlins pitching: LHP Dontrelle Willis. Cardinals pitching: LHP Mark Mulder. Worth noting: This is the last of five Grapefruit League meeting between the Jupiter neighbors. The Cardinals have won three of four. The Marlins complete their Grapefruit League slate with three of four against the Mets. ... LHP Dontrelle Willis is scheduled to make his final exhibition start on Sunday at Class A Greensboro. - Juan C. Rodriguez (Sun-Sentinel) :thumbup

Higginson for Encarnacion?
I'm sure all the "seam-heads" around here will love Higgy. :whistle

DiFelice out
Disappointing news...Treanor couldn't hit his way out of a paper bag.

Das' Marlins Preview.
"Lenny Harris is finished, but he will make the team. So Lenny beat Gagne last year. So what? Who cares. Now we are giving Lenny a job based on one swing of the bat. Isnt that nice? " Incredibly naive analysis...I expected a little more from a non-seam head like Das...otherwise well done. Das=President of the Ishmael Valdez Fan Club :thumbup

Marlins Make Seven Roster Moves
I think either Treanor will get the back up and we'll have Willingham or Lenny be the emergency catchers or we'll keep both De Felice and Treanor on the big league roster. I have a feeling they want to allow Jorg to start in AAA and improve his hitting so that he can make it up to the big show soon as a backup. 720463  :mischief2

Leader goes to bat for stadium
Recent article in the Sun-Sentinel suggests that Wayne would be willing to accomodate the Marlins if they needed to stay past 2010...it always has Wayne saying that he expects the Marlins to get their new ballpark. Encouraging news.

Wow, Stunning Picture
I hate seeing kids led to these kind of things anyway ... chances are the kid has no idea why he really had to be dragged out his parents can protest, but they should of left the kid at home ... then they should of stayed within the boundarys and not crossed the line leading to the arrest 719441 Exactly right. Well said. :thumbup

Good Read on Mordecai
''I was told from guys who played that once you're done playing, you don't want to be looking back, and that if you're looking back, you probably stopped playing too soon,'' Mordecai said. 'But I didn't want to be the low man on the totem pole, a garbage guy. I've seen guys like that playing and wonder to myself, `When's that guy retiring?' Guys were probably saying that about me five years ago.'' I don't think anyone was saying Mordy waited too long to retire. However, I think he just described Lenny Harris. :whistle 719406 I'm sure Eric Gagne wished Lenny had retired.

Opening day roster
Rotation: Beckett, Burnett, Leiter, Valdez, Willis. Bullpen: Alfonseca, Jones, Mecir, Mota, Perisho, Reidling Starting 8/9: LoDuca, C. Delgado, Castillo, Lowell, Gonzalez, Cabrera, Pierre, Conine, Encarnacion Bench: Easley, Aguila, Willingham, W. Delgado, Dillon. Dillon and Willingham haven't done much in spring training, but I'm not going to project their seasons on a few weeks' playing time. Dillon and Willingham have much better skills than the alternatives'. 719123 Replace Willy & Dilly with DiFelice and Harris and you'll have the Opening Day roster. I don't see a backup catcher (other than JWill) on your roster. Bench: Easley, Aguila, DiFelice, W. Delgado, Harris.

A couple of teams need to make sure they have all the positions covered. There should be no bench players. Also God (aka r u wetodded?) has no starting pitchers! What's up with that??? :mischief2

When should I start worrying about JP?
If JP is in the lienup this Fri, Sat, Sun, when Jack says he's getting serious... then maybe JP is okay, If he's not, I doubt he's there for opening day. What a bummer. 718786 Have no fear JP will be there on Opening Day. Don't waste your time worrying, besides - don't we have a third string catcher to be concerned about?

Leader goes to bat for stadium
Huizenga, in a twisted way, really helped the Marlins by announcing the end of their lease in 2010. The plan is gaining momentum. Everything is looking up. 718685 Very good point. If all works out in the end we can look at having a new baseball stadium, a refurbished Orange Bowl and a state of the art Dolphin Stadium and entertainment complex. Everyone will be happy I've got my fingers crossed! :thumbup
