  3. Fuller's wreck intensified by gap in Kentucky's wall Veteran driver says hit was 'a lot higher' than Gordon's 64-G impact By Marty Smith, NASCAR.COM June 22, 2006 09:46 AM EDT (13:46 GMT) The uncomfortable irony of Jeff Fuller's visually horrific accident last weekend at Kentucky Speedway lies in its location on the racetrack -- a break in the retaining wall that serves to expedite the safety crew's entrance to the racing surface. "There should be something done to make that safer," Fuller said Wednesday. "I'm probably not first guy to hit that spot, but I probably hit it the hardest." Fuller wouldn't divulge specifics regarding the G-force load his body experienced during the accident. But prodded further, he did admit his hit was higher than Jeff Gordon's 64-G impact two weeks back at Pocono Raceway. "Oh yeah. A lot higher than that," he said. Fuller sustained a broken right pinky finger in the incident, as well as a broken left wrist that required the surgical installation of a corrective screw. Other than that, though, he said he suffers no further ill-effects. "I got a screw put in my left wrist yesterday and have to find out the time frame as far as expediting its healing," Fuller explained. "I need to get back to the doctor that did the surgery to determine that. "We just need to find out how long that's going to take to heal. But other than that everything else is fine. I actually feel really good." Prior to Wednesday's interview, Fuller first visited the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., to get a look at the hunk of wreckage that used to be his racecar, then to see Dr. Jerry Petty, NASCAR's chief authority on closed-head injuries. "The car is pretty sick," Fuller said. "It definitely hit hard. It was kind of what I expected to see. The roll cage did its job. It's pushed way over. That car is killed. It folded and did what it was supposed to do. "I'm probably a little bit surprised I'm not hurt worse, but not really. Everything did its job. I just got out from seeing Dr. Petty. He said I'm fine." Fuller, a self-described safety fanatic, said he was using an ISP seat and head rest system, one used by the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr. that incorporates rib protection that is "strong enough, but not too strong." "My ribs are sore but they're not broken -- that's what it's all about," Fuller said. "I've always been a safety fanatic and now it's paid off." And big. Fuller described the evolution of the accident vividly. "I came out of Turn 4 and the spotter says, 'High,'" Fuller explained. "I started to go high and Jason [Leffler], at the time, was going backwards on the track. His rear bumper was on the white dotted line, which is only eight feet from the wall. "I didn't want to T-bone him in the driver's door, because he'd have been a hurting puppy." To avoid Leffler, Fuller jerked the wheel left and committed to steering the car into the infield. There was no turning back. "He's still coming down, so I continued to turn left not to hit him," he said. "When I finally got sideways I saw the wall. I didn't see the opening." The very moment that frenetic force impacted the wall it stopped. Immediately. Suddenly. Stationary. "That's not a good place to have an opening like that," Fuller said. "If you need to have one, there needs to be a SAFER Barrier or water barrels or tires or something. "I'm pretty much convinced they'll have that rectified before they have another race there. I've had some hard wrecks and that rates up there." Again, before the interview concluded, Fuller stressed his want to steer clear from the impact of the impact. "I don't want to brag about that top of the heap, there," he said about the lofty G-force load the accident produced. "I'd much rather be talking to you about a win or something. Not about that."
  4. Damn, I wanna go!! How to get out of work?! I told my boss i was going to the parade :lol Good call! Your boss is awesome.
  5. Might go down as one of the stupidest moves in NBA history.
  6. Friday, June 23 Brian Moehler, RHP (5-5, 6.29) @ Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (7-3, 4.07) Scouting Report: A winner of five of his past seven decisions, Moehler has evened his record. Over that stretch, he has posted six quality starts in seven outings. In five of his last seven starts, the veteran right-hander has worked at least seven innings. Moehler has been especially sharp in his last two starts, giving up four earned runs in 14 innings. Wang will stay on his regular fifth day, as the Yankees wanted to insert him in between Jaret Wright and Shawn Chacon, who have each had trouble pitching deep into games. Wang was two outs from his first career complete-game win in his last start, but he served up a walk-off homer to Washington's Ryan Zimmerman in the ninth, taking the loss. Saturday, June 24 Josh Johnson, RHP (6-4, 2.01) @ Shawn Chacon, RHP (4-1, 5.89) Scouting Report: Facing the best is bringing out the best in Johnson, who lowered his ERA to 2.01 after holding the high-powered Blue Jays to one run in 5 2/3 innings in his last start. Consider, over his last five starts, Johnson has matched up against Pedro Martinez, Jason Schmidt (twice), John Smoltz and Roy Halladay. In those contests, his ERA is 1.38 (five earned runs in 32 2/3 innings). Johnson logged a career high 119 pitches. Chacon looks to bounce back after a tough start on Tuesday in Washington. The Yankees spotted Chacon a 9-2 lead in the top of the fifth, but he gave back four of those runs in the bottom of the inning, prompting Joe Torre to lift him after just 4 1/3 innings. Chacon hasn't shown much consistency since returning from the disabled list. Sunday, June 25 Dontrelle Willis, LHP (4-6, 4.19) @ Mike Mussina, RHP (8-3, 3.42) Scouting Report: The D-Train of old is rolling back into action. Now a winner of three straight decisions, by beating the Orioles last Tuesday, his career record is now 50-33. He's become the Marlins' all-time victory leader, moving one ahead of A.J. Burnett. In his last four starts, Willis has logged 31 2/3 innings, giving up nine earned runs. Mussina pitched brilliantly in his last appearance -- against everyone not named Ryan Howard, that is. Howard torched the right-hander for two tape-measure home runs and five RBIs as Mussina took the no-decision. Mussina is now winless in his last three starts. Mussina is 0-2 with a 5.57 ERA in four lifetimes starts against the Marlins. MLB.com
  7. Well, gee, $18 for an auto & a picture? Sweet. So how does this go? Do we have to buy the stuff we want signed at the store, or do we bring it ourselves? My guess would be that you can bring your own stuff but they will also have stuff to buy like pictures and things. Thats usually how they run at the signings I go to.
  8. kool, i would of a asked for more though...how about an uggla bat a treanor chest guard, and a hanley hat.... Yeah, because a Baltimore Orioles fan would ask for all of that, knowing exactly why they're asking for it. They were probably thrilled to get the Miguel stuff, as any other person that's not a fan of Florida would be.
  9. And most of our starters have 5 ERA's.. that's concerning.. Still, its not a push over.
  10. St. Louis' rotation is no push over. Repeat? Yeah it is except Carpenter.. they were all reliable at one time this year.. not now Most of the starters have winning records and you have last years' Cy Young. That rotation is no push over.

One of the few flaws in MLB.tv. Very stupid that you can't watch your home team's games.
  12. St. Louis' rotation is no push over. Repeat?

  20. Ooh... what's the price range? Here are the prices quoted on the hollywoodcollectibles.com website for (note these prices are for an autograph from Olsen or Uggla, not both): Autograph Prices Baseball - $18.00 8x10 - $18.00 16x20 - $20.00 Bats - $25.00 Jersey - $25.00 Inscription (Each) - $8.00 Pretty steep for rookies.
  21. Brown was decent last season. 14 goals and 14 assists with 28 points and 80 penalty minutes. He was, however a bit of a hot head on the ice. He gets into a lot of scraps. I do agree that Ponikarovsky, Frolov and Garon would be a better deal but then the Kings would be giving up two arms, two legs and three brains.
  22. The Kings have made a real tempting offer for Luongo. LOS ANGELES TIMES: Chris Foster reports a league source claims the Kings have made a pitch for Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo. "The Kings are believed to be discussing a multi-player package, with forwards Alexander Frolov and Dustin Brown and goaltender Mathieu Garon among the names being discussed. Dean Lombardi, the Kings' general manager, declined to comment", reports Foster. PALM BEACH POST: Brian Biggane also reports on the Kings offer, and suggests it appears the Panthers are making Luongo available after failing to reach an agreement on a new contract. Spector's Note; Not a bad offer for Luongo if it's legit, although Garon did fade down the stretch last season, but Frolov and Brown hold plenty of promise and would be affordable pickups if Keenan were to seriously pursue a big ticket UFA blueliner. C/O Spectorshockey.net Although we get screwed in the goalie department in this deal because Garon got pulled a lot in the second half of the season last year, its a brilliant offer. Frolov is a goal scoring machine. Perfect fit for the Panther offense. Don't tdeal him to the Rangers!! If Luongo goes anywhere, he'll be going to Los Angeles or Columbus. Both teams are really in hot water in the goalie department. The Kings' Matheui Garon played decent in the beginning of the year but really had a melt down in the later parts of the year, often being pulled and replaced by LaBabera who didn't perform well at all in the few starts he got. The Kings also have great offensive power players such as Alexander Frolov and Pavol Demitra that could really help the Panthers' cause in the event of a trade with L.A. Legace is being let go. Canucks because of the Keenan Players. Trust me, he is not going to Columbus or LA. LA may have an outside chance but they'd have to give up an arm and a leg for Luongo and thats something they cannot afford. :mischief :whistle
