June 22, 200620 yr Friday, June 23 Brian Moehler, RHP (5-5, 6.29) @ Chien-Ming Wang, RHP (7-3, 4.07) Scouting Report: A winner of five of his past seven decisions, Moehler has evened his record. Over that stretch, he has posted six quality starts in seven outings. In five of his last seven starts, the veteran right-hander has worked at least seven innings. Moehler has been especially sharp in his last two starts, giving up four earned runs in 14 innings. Wang will stay on his regular fifth day, as the Yankees wanted to insert him in between Jaret Wright and Shawn Chacon, who have each had trouble pitching deep into games. Wang was two outs from his first career complete-game win in his last start, but he served up a walk-off homer to Washington's Ryan Zimmerman in the ninth, taking the loss. Saturday, June 24 Josh Johnson, RHP (6-4, 2.01) @ Shawn Chacon, RHP (4-1, 5.89) Scouting Report: Facing the best is bringing out the best in Johnson, who lowered his ERA to 2.01 after holding the high-powered Blue Jays to one run in 5 2/3 innings in his last start. Consider, over his last five starts, Johnson has matched up against Pedro Martinez, Jason Schmidt (twice), John Smoltz and Roy Halladay. In those contests, his ERA is 1.38 (five earned runs in 32 2/3 innings). Johnson logged a career high 119 pitches. Chacon looks to bounce back after a tough start on Tuesday in Washington. The Yankees spotted Chacon a 9-2 lead in the top of the fifth, but he gave back four of those runs in the bottom of the inning, prompting Joe Torre to lift him after just 4 1/3 innings. Chacon hasn't shown much consistency since returning from the disabled list. Sunday, June 25 Dontrelle Willis, LHP (4-6, 4.19) @ Mike Mussina, RHP (8-3, 3.42) Scouting Report: The D-Train of old is rolling back into action. Now a winner of three straight decisions, by beating the Orioles last Tuesday, his career record is now 50-33. He's become the Marlins' all-time victory leader, moving one ahead of A.J. Burnett. In his last four starts, Willis has logged 31 2/3 innings, giving up nine earned runs. Mussina pitched brilliantly in his last appearance -- against everyone not named Ryan Howard, that is. Howard torched the right-hander for two tape-measure home runs and five RBIs as Mussina took the no-decision. Mussina is now winless in his last three starts. Mussina is 0-2 with a 5.57 ERA in four lifetimes starts against the Marlins. MLB.com

Can't wait As someone who knows both rotations, I'm going to say that based on the matchups the Yanks are favored Friday (though Moehler has been better lately), the Fish by far are favored Saturday (Chacon has been a mess and JJ has been lights out) and Sunday is a tossup... of course, things don't always go as planned. For anyone interested, Saturday is Old Timers Day at the Stadium. I'm sure that will be cool for some of the kids -- though I definitely don't see them being overwhelmed by New York with Girardi there. It should be a great series (though I really hope the threat of rain this weekend doesn't ruin it)!

Bring a beer shower cap. :lol As long as you're not sitting in the bleachers, and aren't incredibly rude, Yankee Stadium really isn't that bad at all (unless you get unlucky and sit next to obnoxious fans -- but they exist everywhere). I was at one of the Oakland games a few weeks ago and there were plenty of A's fans who weren't getting harrassed at all. Unless you are obnoxious and start harrassing people unnecessarily, there will most likely not be any beer showers (again, this excludes if you're sitting in the rightfield bleachers, and most of that will just be taunting). As long as you don't sit in the bleachers with opposing fan gear or wear anything "Boston", you should be fine. The reputation is worse than it actually is. Plus, most Yankee fans I know are happy that Girardi is having success with the Fish, and 2003 is more remembered for Aaron Boone's HR in the ALCS -- no ill will towards the Marlins for winning that series (at least not from people I know). But definitely bring plenty of Pro-Marlin stuff. That's much more appreciated than anti-Yankeee stuff (you will most likely to be assumed to be a Boston/Mets fan) and you will probably have a much better YS experience.
