  1. Congrats to Billy :lol :. Sebastian the Ibis (University of Miami) I knew one of the guys who was Sebastian while I was at Miami .
  2. I was at the game today and JJ looked excellent. Especially considering he's coming off TJ and the last thing to come back is command. Velocity was strong through the entire game. Yes, he had a lot of run support, but he pitched tough with runners on and never let the Mets get back into the game. While he may not be a true "Ace" right now, he definitely has the potential to be one the next few years .
  3. I'll be at Shea for Sunday's game. So far, combined between DS and Shea vs. the Mets I've never seen the Fish lose and hopefully that will continue .
  4. Harold Reynolds is completely awesome and is missed greatly on BBTN. There were a lot of rumors swirling around his firing; including that they actually give the analysts "opinions" and "sides" and Harold didn't like it one night and got really upset. The suit that ESPN settled was actually a "Wrongful Termination" suit issued by HR; which means ESPN somewhat admitted they were wrong in firing him. I hope TBS lets him do World Series games this year .
  5. Wow... crushing the ball early . BTW, little random fact. I was watching the US Open tennis and Nikolas Davydenko's brother was wearing a Marlins hat. A lot of the tennis players live in South Florida, so it didn't surprise me, but it was cool to see, especially after last night.
  6. I love DJ, but I chose "Other". If a DH gets it, it should be Travis Hafner (despite the Indians being nowhere near the playoffs -- Thome has also dropped off), but if you need it to be a position player, Jermaine Dye is having an amazing season for the ChiSox, and Morneau and Mauer are absolutely carrying the Twins Offense (and Mauer is leading the league in hitting at CATCHER). Of the two, I'd go Jeter any time (biased of course), but I had to vote "other".
  7. Is anyone else watching on MLB.TV? Because mine decided to have no sound tonight ETA: Nevemrind, it's back
  8. I'm going to game one, so I'm hoping to see JJ vs. Maine instead of Nolasco vs. Maine. Either way, I'm excited -- especially after tonight's game. Although I did kind of want to see Pelfrey, because they talk about him here all the time and compare him to Phil Hughes (who is 2 years young and has better breaking pitches, but I'll admit to bias).
  9. I'll be at the game with my sister and a friend and wearing my Cabrera shirt and the visor I got on "visor night" last year. Can't wait... I love it when the Fish come to NY
  10. Good for the fans there for cheering Alex and Mikey. I know I would've been -- it's about respect. After that you cheer for the outs, but a nice welcome is a good thing. Either way, it sounds like they weren't booed so it doesn't matter. Plus the Marlins were already winning at that point, so everyone was probably happy. I actually have a funny OT story that goes along with this. I went to Yankee Stadium last year and saw the Yanks/Indians. So Aaron Boone comes up to bat for the first time and everyone cheers... then he gets a hit -- each time he came up and would be cheered he would get a hit (including with 2 outs in the 9th inning that became like the first run Rivera would let up in like some disgusting number of innings). They won, but still... you don't want to make the opposing players TOO comfortable .
  11. Johnson looks better wearing #18 than Benedict Damon did... That's one of the most retarded things I've ever read. Just my opinion..ANYBODY looks good in #18 after that TRAITOR... 2-0..I ain't worried....yet It's called free agency. A player does not have a special allegience to one team. It should be the Kansas City Royals that are pissed if anyone :whistle
  12. Johnson looks better wearing #18 than Benedict Damon did... That's one of the most retarded things I've ever read. :thumbup This guy has to be one of the best Sox fans I've encountered on the 'net. 1-0 Fish, no one out... Edit: 2-0, one out now
  13. Key: Pitching, pitching, pitching. The Sox like work up pitchcounts like no other. If the young guys stay confident in their stuff and throw strikes, they should do well. Walks will kill them dead. They also have to take the same approach to working the Sox starters. The sooner you get them out, the more likely you'll see the scrubs (who are all extremely hittable -- even Timlin). If they see Papelbon and the Sox have a lead, they're probably screwed. I called the Yankee series exactly as is it happened and I'll predict the Sox series the same way: Marlins have the game one advantage, Sox have the game two advantage, and the third is a tossup. Have the kids seen Lester? I don't know if they play in the same division, but many of the kids were in AA last year and may have seen him (unless they were in a different league, which I'm not sure of).
