Aguila sent down...Reggie stays!

Featured Replies

Josh Willingham - OF - Marlins

Marlins activated outfielder Josh Willingham from the 15-day disabled list.

Willingham, who had been out since June 6 with a left hand injury, will return as the Marlins' regular left fielder, leaving fewer at-bats available for Cody Ross and Joe Borchard. Jun. 21 - 10:58 pm et

Chris Aguila - OF - Marlins

Marlins optioned outfielder Chris Aguila to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Aguila didn't have an at-bat since his recall before going 0-for-3 in the loss to the Orioles tonight. Jun. 21 - 10:56 pm et

I totally agree both need to go...but for right now Aguila at least does not make mental errors.

wow u cant be serious after that nite that reggie just had and aguila got sent down wow. but i do agree that they should both go down

guys....if we are in contention then we will trade for a CF....and Reggie will be sent down.

Although, I'd love to give James Shanks a chance right now....his D is pretty good.

Lets not go acting like Aguila is the second coming of Gary Sheffield folks.

Reggie is basically useless and makes many poor defensive decisions but it is clear he has more natural potential and thus he was left up.

I'm guessing they are keeping Reggie for Eric Reed type duties ? pinch running and late-inning defensive replacement. Plus he can get a hit every once and awhile, unlike Reed.

I thought Aguila would stay because he's more versatile as a backup OF and can be a late-inning D replacement if needed, or even pinch-hitter or pinch-runner. I wouldn't use Reggie in any of those three capacities.

Even with the occasional mental lapse by Reggie, he is far and away the best CF on this team.

:blink: ever hear of a guy named Alfredo hes batting over .280 :thumbup

well that's why I'd switch it personally. If I'm sticking Aguila in the outfield for whatever reason at least I can feel relatively sure he's not going to have a brain fart out there.

and offensively they'll both just strike out so it's a push there...

If Reggie has potential, terrific, but let him develop it in the minors.

Right now, Reggie is useless. Don't really need him as a defensive replacement or pinch runner. Overmatched at the plate. I would say he has a hole in his bat where the ball goes through but that would be saying he actually puts the bat where it would meet the ball. Admit it, when he steps up to the plate who here even believes he has a real chance of making any sort of contact.

I rather have Aggy on this team than Reggie. Atleast Aggy has good D, he can hit the ball sometimes and he is a good baserunner. but....

Reggie = K Machine

Reggie = Bad baserunner

Reggie = Over thrower.

Reggie = Pretty much everything bad.

The thing that to me is the most telling: Tommy Hutton, the eternal optimist, even said during last night's game that Reggie should be getting experience down in Triple-A, not up on the big league club.

Again, Reggie makes the occasional overthrow and has his mental lapses, but has the best CF arm on the team, and can "go get em" as good as anyone. He isn't that bad. Reggie hasnt had a bad baserunning mistake since April. I think the last 2 times he was a pinch runner, he scored from 2nd on a single, and scored from 1st on a double. He isnt that bad a player. Now if only his bat made some improvements like back in May. :mischief2

I think another reason why we kept Reggie is because we dont have a true CF'er on the team. Mezzy and Hermida can play center but they are not true CF'ers. So maybe thats why. Oh and hopefully the FO is doing some work up there helping us find a nice young and talented CF'er for us :) .

I remember someone mentioning James Shanks... Is he ready? He doesnt have to be our CF'er of the future though.

Considering Shanks is 27, he is more than ready... but he isnt on the 40 man and I have no idea if he can play CF or not. Reed is the CF down on AAA

Shanks has off field issues to deal with first.......may or may not come out soon but one day it will....

i'd go w/ aguila over abercrombie. aguila has a very good arm and plays good defense. he's got some speed.

reggie has speed but isn't as good of a baserunner. he can play decent defense and has a decent arm. aguila's just a little bit better. they both can't hit. *wonders who's gonna be the first to mention the HR in cincy*

Of course it is hard for Reggie to make baserunning errors when he strikes out :(
