Probably is two fold- teams didn't want to risk paying him the 5MM, and its possible... just maybe... the Marlins did this as a favor / courtesy since he was blindsided by this AND is a MLB vet. Kind of a "Hey, I know its shitty this is happening- but were going to outright release you so you can go where ever YOU want to go... good luck man, knock em dead. Except against us". Kind of thing. Straily was a good soldier last year and all spring, I can really see his outright release as a respect for a veteran thing. Which is good, considering the reputation Jeter has in baseball right now as being "too smug, too good for us".

I hate this team, somehow I already have 12 hats with the New Logo. Grabbed four more Monday. The Red Snapback and the 305 are pretty cool, but they have a Made In USA Custom Fitted that has the Marlin surrounding the baseball stiches, that feels and fits perfectly. Had to grab it.

I was just thinking out loud, but thinking about a vinyl wrap with the names printed- use the colors for certain accolades. I'm sure with all of our historic colors- Teal, Orange, Silver, Black, Red-Orange, Ocean Blue, Sunshine Yellow, Night Club Black, Energy Silver, Caliente Red, Marlin Blue, Midnight Black, Slate Grey. Kinda like how they did the Jose Tribute on the plaza at first- that everyone signed.

What might be cool is a wall going from one end of the building and going all the way around... of every player who has suited up for the FLORIDA / MIAMI Marlins in a MLB game. If they want to get frisky, add the 1994 scabs as well. Every season add the next years players... no need to duplicate it names, just add em once in terms of marlins debuts. Maybe put the names in certain colors - GOLD for World Champs, Red for Rawlings Gold Gloves Silver for Silver Sluggers, Green for All Star Representative, Purple for ROY Blue for MVP and so on. Mulitple Accolades mean Multiple Colors. Pink for Replacement players Kevin Millar - Charles Johnson - Ivan Rodriguez - Mike Piazza - Chris Coghlan - Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton - Miguel Rojas

Man, I see that map and the names / options just strikes me as an indoor flea market. All it's missing is a place to buy bootleg dvd's. I'm hopeful that since they are all local options and companies, they are close to their prices out of the stadium. Did the Marlins ditch Amarark / Levy Restaurants?

It does look better, and it's a little less chaotic... but I did like the neon green as it was a unique color in MLB. My hope is eventually they start to incorporate more of the history of the team into the stadium. Retire some numbers, display the old logos somewhere, and hell.... maybe even commision more new art that is "marlins centric" like a giant mural of counsell crossing home plate in the CF zone area. Change up the styles, it all doesn't have to be realistic.... BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY--- Open a damn team museum that's open to the public where we can see the world series trophies without having to sit in the diamond club. Theres so much history on that site, and with baseball in Miami- it doesn't even need to focus on this current Marlins franchise. Just don't do what Tampa Bay did with a bunch of counterfeit jerseys all over the place.

Anyone else as cautiously excited for what 4/5ths of the pitching staff is capable of? Am I losing my mind or has our pitching staff gone 4 or games in the last 12 without the starter giving up a hit in ST? Richards is the one I'm most excited about with that changeup, but man- even Smith, and Lopez have been dealing. Throw in Alcantra, Straily and hopefully the guy we got from PHI and we might have a Rotation to compete for a while like the Mets had in 2015 to now. How many games has our staff pitched a no hitter into the 5th or 6th and pulled the starter? Gotta be a confidence booster.

If the Marlins trade three MVP's in a row, I'll streak the stadium in a leopard thing. If they trade 5 out of 6 years, I'll move to Mexico and build the damn wall myself.

I mean, if we have a "Home" starter in Chen and a "Road Starter" replacement it could work. Then have a "Piggybacker" I kinda dig that idea. Two pitchers for a 9 inning game, one comes in- leaves in 6... another finishes the last three.
