He can do whatever he f------ wants." "We've got a lot of people dogging it. They never pull guys." "We've got 24 more guys out there. Hopefully, they can do the same thing I can." http://weblogs.sun-s...red_marlin.html 6)Hanley and Wes Helms get into physical altercation http://www.fishstrip...anleys-attitude 1)Yeah, that was sh*tty. We were all pissed. 2) Also sh*tty. Also a long time ago. 3) That's Uggla being a jerk. Hanley was injured and was forced to sit out most of the rest of the season, which sucked for him because he just missed his goal of 200 hits. 4) That's LoMo being a jerk to Hanley (AKA being LoMo). Hanley didn't do anything wrong. 5) That's the same as the first one. 6) That's still the same incident. So yeah, he didn't chase a ball in 2010. That was horrible. And didn't like the dress code in spring training of 2009 and was really angry for like an hour. How about the quote from Jack about how Hanley was one of the hardest guys working when he first got there and about how LoMo needed to start concentrating on baseball?
  2. Doesn't tendering a player mean they stay on the same team? yea but it means they want to trade him That's not what tendering means. It just means they gave him a contract for this upcoming season and he'll be going to arbitration. We'll be doing the same with Anibal (unless we give him an extension) and Boni, for instance. It has zero to do with trades.
  3. Olney will not stop saying that he might be traded until ST starts and Hanley is predictably playing 3B. At that point he will say that the Marlins couldn't find the right fit for a trade partner.
  4. Ken_Rosenthal: Source: Braun tested positive for a prohibited substance, not a performance-enhancing drug. More coming on FOXSports.com. #Brewers #MLB
  5. Dear Javy, There are others like you. But this one is mine.
  6. Also in the video: Manager Ozzie Guillen, President of Baseball Operations Admin Beinfest and General Manager Mike Hill.
  7. Gonna miss Everyday Clay. Shame he never got a real shot at closing.
  8. well for what it's worth, CJ said if it was just the money he'd be a Marlin right now. Said the Marlins were totally classy, the situation would've been great there too. Said it was a win-win with either team. And had the Angels not been involved he'd have gone with the Marlins. Yeah, he called the Marlins 100% awesome and said he would have been the Marlins if it was any team but his hometown team going against them. Gotta give him props for going with his heart instead of the money, though.
  9. I don't know what I'm going to do without this show until March. Tonight's episode was amazing.
  10. Its November, relax I guess that was it because December came like a bullet.
  11. I'd send in a ballot, but given that we're in Florida, I'm assuming the voting will be rigged (and Rab will win all the awards). I'm okay with that.
  12. I don't think we have to overpay for Prince. Offer him a CC type contract where he can opt-out after 3 years. His agent has been hinting that might be what it takes. If Texas ends up offering this type of contract and we don't, Ill be pissed. A 7 year deal puts him back on the market when he is 35...and he is looking at Beltran-type scenario if that plays out. Be smart, Prince. Take a 3 year deal with a high annual salary and allow yourself one more big pay day. Come to the Fish and win not one, not two, not three... He won't take that because someone will give him 7 years and there's no way Prince (or his agent) haven't thought about the idea of Prince aging like his father.
  13. Do you guys think that the Pacers + Jazz end up with whiter teams than the rest of the NBA because their GM's target white players? They would never admit it but it makes sense. The Pujols but no Prince thing is basically this in motion. The reason we'll overpay for Pujols but not Prince is because Prince doesn't have his star power.
  14. I hadn't read that. I like JCR's idea too. JCR's tweet was only "Gaby alone won't bring an impact player." That other part was a fans idea. Of course he likes the fan's idea, because it's not realistic. :lol Well, maybe if we add in Donnie Murphy!?!
  15. Gaby isn't worth Garza on the market. Throw coghlan and volstad in there.Done deal. Those guys have very little value. That's why so many members here are so quick to part with them. Point is, they are a few more bodies. Volstad has potential though. But if we want this organization to become popular with this city, we need to win NOW. Bad bodies have no worth. A guy nobody wants as their 5th starter and a guy who has been bad/injured/in the minors for the last two seasons aren't going to sweeten anything. JCR said it best regarding Gaby: Gaby alone won't bring impact guy RT How about Cespedes for OF, LoMo at 1B, trade Gaby for SP, best possible plan right?
  16. Let us quantify value. If Gio is worth $1.00 then Coghlan and Volstad are at least .75 cents. They just need to come up with a quarter. (Somebody should invent a board game - I claim credit for the idea)). It doesn't work like that. Let's say that Coghlan is worth... hypothetically 1/8th a Hanley. Does that mean that for 8 Coghlans, you trade Hanley? Of course not, because no matter how many Coghlans you get, it won't do for you what Hanley did.
  17. Sign Fielder, trade Gaby for Garza, and then we're better than the Angels Gaby isn't worth Garza on the market.
  18. I like the line-up as is with Morrison. Now they aren't getting Pujols, I'd wish they could add an additional starting pitcher without moving Morrison. I'm not sure how to do that, to be honest. Trying to sign Jackson or Vazquez would be a place to start. Javy is as good as gone. I forgot about Jackson though. Roswalt would be nice too.
  19. I like the line-up as is with Morrison. Now they aren't getting Pujols, I'd wish they could add an additional starting pitcher without moving Morrison. I'm not sure how to do that, to be honest.
  20. You guys can't be serious. Gaby is a guy who hasn't hit more than 19 homeruns and has less than 90 RBI in 2 full seasons. Prince is a beast. I'd say he is just as strong as Pujols. Just fatter. Another pitcher + another CHEAPER bat [Cespedes possibly] > Fielder. I just don't think our line up will be as productive as it could be without another power bat. Prince brings in the runs. Gaby doesn't. We are not lacking in power, though. I mean, we may not have as much as the days of Jake, Uggla, Hanley, Cantu; but a fat lot of good that did us without better pitching. The point is, there are other areas that we need a lot more help in than at 1B.
  21. Guys, the people talking highly about gaby, why not sign Fielder and then use Gaby as an excellent trade piece for pitching which we still need? Its not like he just poofs away when we sign Fielder, The funny thing is Gaby is actually one year older than Prince Because what Gaby gets us in the trade market will be worth less to us than what Gaby can do. And Gaby is like 6 months older than Prince if I remember correctly, but Gaby is going to age much better.
  22. damn, hopefully he gets some sort of pardon. Hopefully we get a pardon from his contract.
  23. At the end of the day we can all agree Fielder>gaby Of course. There is no doubt. But Gaby is cheap, plays the position well defensively and is a decent bat. i just think if you have a chance to upgrade you do it, much like the angels already having a solid rotation prior to c.j and still they went out and signed him to improve an already stout pitching rotation. I think you dont have to go 7 or 8 years with prince but a 4 or 5 year deal would suffice But, using that money, you can upgrade other positions. If we went out and got Prince, we'd obviously be done and would most probably end up overpaying. And then we'd have to trade Gaby, which probably wouldn't net us anything better than a Volstad type pitcher or some far away prospects, because he's worth more to us than he is to someone else. On top of that, he probably needs at least 7 years and by the end of that he'll just be a bad contract weighing us down.
  24. I do indeed mean actual search.
  25. At the end of the day we can all agree Fielder>gaby Not for the money. And I bet you that in 3-4 years, not at all. Cecil and Prince are very similar, body/condition wise, at age 28. Cecil's body failed him like at age 30. It's hard to fight genetics, man.
