  1. So it'll be #1 vs. #2 for the SEC championship. Again. The amazing thing about this year is that we have six teams undefeated, but no one-loss teams right now. 1) Florida, 12-0 2) Alabama, 12-0 3) Texas, 12-0 4) TCU, 12-0 5) Cincinnati, 11-0 6) Boise State, 12-0 7) Georgia Tech, 10-2 8) Oregon, 9-2 9) Pittsburgh, 9-2 10) Ohio State, 10-2 11) Iowa, 10-2 12) Oklahoma State, 9-3 13) Penn State, 10-2 14) Virginia Tech, 9-3 15) LSU, 9-3 16) Oregon State, 8-3 17) Miami, 9-3 18) Clemson, 8-4 19) Brigham Young, 10-2 20) USC, 8-3 21) Utah, 9-3 22) California, 8-3 23) Houston, 10-2 24) North Carolina, 8-4 25) Mississippi, 8-4 Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (12-0) beat FSU (6-6), 37-10 #17 Miami (9-3) beat USF (7-4), 31-10 UCF (8-4) beat Alabama-Birmingham (5-7), 34-27 FAU (4-7) beat Western Kentucky (0-11), 29-23 FIU (3-8) had a bye Week 13 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (12-0) vs. #2 Alabama (12-0) in the SEC Championship in Atlanta, Saturday, December 5 @ 4:00pm #17 Miami (9-3) is awaiting its bowl UCF (8-4) is awaiting a bowl USF (7-4) @ Connecticut (6-5), Saturday, December 5 @ 8:00pm FSU (6-6) is awaiting a bowl FAU (4-7) @ FIU (3-8), Saturday, December 5 @ 7:00pm
  2. MLS Cup, and with it the 2010-11 CCL group stage slot, goes to Real Salt Lake.
  3. I thought you had to win 7 games in a 12 game season to be bowl eligible and 6 in an 11 game season to be bowl eligible. When did they change that?:huh Nope, it's always been six. They never changed it up to 7 in the first place.
  4. I'm taking a break from posting the rankings for the Thanksgiving holiday week. Nothing in the Top 5 changed anyway. :mischief Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (11-0) beat FIU (3-8), 62-3 #20 Miami (8-3) beat Duke (5-6), 34-16 USF (7-3) vs. Louisville (4-7), 34-22 UCF (7-4) beat Tulane (3-8), 49-0 FSU (6-5) beat Maryland (2-9), 29-26 FAU (3-7) lost to Troy (8-3), 47-21 Week 13 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (11-0) vs. FSU (6-5), Saturday, November 28 @ 3:30pm #17 Miami (8-3) @ USF (7-3), Saturday, November 28 @ 3:30pm UCF (7-4) @ Alabama-Birmingham (5-6), Saturday, November 28 @ 1:30pm FAU (3-7) vs. Western Kentucky (0-10), Saturday, November 28 @ 4:00pm FIU (3-8) has a bye
  5. The championship game for the United Football League is set for next Friday in Las Vegas at 3pm ET. It will pit the Florida Tuskers (Orlando) vs. the Las Vegas Locomotives.
  6. The championship game for the United Football League is set for next Friday in Las Vegas at 3pm ET. It will pit the Florida Tuskers (Orlando) vs. the Las Vegas Locomotives.
  7. LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake for the MLS Cup this Sunday night. Matchday 4 for the UEFA Champions League is 24-25 November. Arsenal can qualify for the Knockout Stages by at least drawing Standard Liege. Liverpool needs a win over Fiorentina and a lot of help to avoid dropping to the Europa League (former UEFA Cup).
  8. No change at the top, but a good amount of shuffling underneath. 1) Florida, 10-0 2) Alabama, 10-0 3) Texas, 10-0 4) TCU, 10-0 5) Cincinnati, 10-0 6) Boise State, 10-0 7) Georgia Tech, 10-1 8) LSU, 8-2 9) Pittsburgh, 9-1 10) Ohio State, 9-2 11) Oregon, 8-2 12) Oklahoma State, 8-2 13) Iowa, 9-2 14) Penn State, 9-2 15) Virginia Tech, 7-3 16) Wisconsin, 8-2 17) Stanford, 7-3 18) USC, 7-3 19) Oregon State, 7-3 20) Miami, 7-3 21) Utah, 8-2 22) Brigham Young, 8-2 23) Clemson, 7-3 24) Houston, 8-2 25) California, 7-3 Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (10-0) defeated South Carolina (6-5), 24-14 #14 Miami (7-3) lost to North Carolina (7-3), 33-24 #24 USF (6-3) lost to Rutgers (7-2), 31-0 UCF (6-4) beat #15 Houston (8-2), 37-32 (one less feather in USF's cap...we still have more conference titles :mischief) FSU (5-5) beat Wake Forest (4-7), 41-28 FAU (3-6) beat Arkansas State (2-7), 35-18 FIU (3-7) beat North Texas (2-8), 35-28 Week 11 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (10-0) vs. FIU (3-7), Saturday, November 21 @ 12:30pm #20 Miami (7-3) vs. Duke (5-5), Saturday, November 21 @ Noon USF (6-3) vs. Louisville (4-6), Saturday, November 21 @ Noon UCF (6-4) vs. Tulane (3-7), Saturday, November 21 @ 2:00pm FSU (5-5) vs. Maryland (2-8), Saturday, November 21 @ Noon FAU (3-6) @ Troy (7-3), Saturday, November 21 @ 4:15pm
  9. So just because this guy didn't have a membership card in "Al-Qaeda" does not mean he isn't a terrorist. I always thought the definition of terrorism was obvious: acts of war directed at civilians. This was someone in our own military executing an attack against people in our own military. This is treason, not terrorism.
  10. Some claimed that the MSM at first were downplaying the fact that Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, the man (believed to be) responsible for the Fort Hood massacre, is a Muslim. Well, regardless of whether or not they did, they can't anymore. It's coming out today that Maj. Hasan has at least made attempts to contact al-Qaeda...and U.S. intelligence knew about it! He also had links to a radical Muslim cleric who used to preach in the Washington, D.C., area but fled to Yemen and now runs a jihad blog. This is not an act of terrorism. It was directed at our military by "one of our own". This is clearly an act of treason The way this is unfolding, this feels like the Chris Benoit murder-suicide all over again.
  11. Jeez, he looks like a corpse.
  12. Welcome, Texas Christian University. You have finally arrived. :mischief 1) Florida, 9-0 2) Alabama, 9-0 3) Texas, 9-0 4) TCU, 9-0 5) Cincinnati, 9-0 6) Boise State, 9-0 7) Georgia Tech, 9-1 8) LSU, 7-2 9) USC, 7-2 10) Iowa, 9-1 11) Ohio State, 8-2 12) Pittsburgh, 8-1 13) Oregon, 7-2 14) Miami, 7-2 15) Houston, 8-1 16) Utah, 8-1 17) Arizona, 6-2 18) Penn State, 8-2 19) Oklahoma State, 7-2 20) Wisconsin, 7-2 21) Virginia Tech, 6-3 22) Brigham Young, 7-2 23) Oregon State, 6-3 24) USF, 6-2 25) West Virginia, 7-2 Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (9-0) beat Vanderbilt (2-8), 27-3 #17 Miami (7-2) beat Virginia (3-6), 52-17 #25 USF (6-2) was idle UCF (5-4) lost to #2 Texas (9-0), 35-3 FSU (4-5) lost to Clemson (6-3), 40-24 FAU (2-6) lost to Alabama-Birmingham (4-5), 56-29 FIU (2-7) lost to Middle Tennessee State (6-3), 48-21 Week 11 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (9-0) @ South Carolina (6-4), Saturday, November 14 @ 3:30pm #14 Miami (7-2) @ North Carolina (6-3) , Saturday, November 14 @ 3:30pm #24 USF (6-2) @ Rutgers (6-2), Thursday, November 12 @ 7:30pm UCF (5-4) vs. #15 Houston (8-1) , Saturday, November 14 @ Noon FSU (4-5) vs. Wake Forest (4-6) , Saturday, November 14 @ Noon FAU (2-6) vs. Arkansas State (2-6) , Saturday, November 14 @ 4:00pm FIU (2-7) vs. North Texas (2-7) , Saturday, November 14 @ 7:00pm
  13. Just one thing: be glad the stadium was approved before he got elected. :mischief
  14. I'm honestly surprised that you guys in the Bull Pen weren't talking about the Mayoral race. As part of a sizeable anti-incumbent fervor, Joe Sanchez, who was a supporter of outgoing incumbent Manny Diaz, was beaten by Tomas Regalado. Regalado was the city commissioner who opposed both the new Marlins ballpark and the waiver to expedite its construction. He said the focus of Miami should come off huge public works and onto creating jobs. "When I speak of our great city, I do not envision a metropolis," he said. Which is funny, because another thousand or so would be without work without the stadium.
  15. Florida at home vs. Vanderbilt. The only question there is how long Urban Meyer will run up the score. Is it possible to say the same of Miami at home vs. Virginia? Or Texas at home vs. UCF? :mischief FSU does have a tough road away to Clemson. The question is, are they really back? The boosters are not going to like losing five games this year. FAU with a good out-of-conference matchup. Can they kick one of UCF's conference rivals while it's down? FIU seems to be doing good with FAU's sloppy seconds. Last week it was La-La. This week, can they dispatch MTSU?
  16. Still no respect for TCU. Oh well, at least with two losses USC is out of the picture for good now. One more win would clinch the Pac-10 for Oregon. They belong as the top one-loss team. :mischief It seems like this is the first time that all unbeatens, when there are three or more at the same time this late, are actually at the top of the BCS poll. 1) Florida, 8-0 2) Texas, 8-0 3) Alabama, 8-0 4) Iowa, 9-0 5) Cincinnati, 8-0 6) TCU, 8-0 7) Boise State, 8-0 8) Oregon, 7-1 9) LSU, 7-1 10) Georgia Tech, 8-1 11) Penn State, 8-1 12) USC, 6-2 13) Pittsburgh, 7-1 14) Utah, 7-1 15) Houston, 7-1 16) Ohio State, 7-2 17) Miami, 6-2 18) Arizona, 5-2 19) Oklahoma State, 6-2 20) California, 6-2 21) Wisconsin, 6-2 22) Notre Dame, 6-2 23) Virginia Tech, 5-3 24) Oklahoma, 5-3 25) USF, 6-2 Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (8-0) beat Georgia (4-4), 41-17 #19 Miami (6-2) beat Wake Forest (4-5), 28-27 USF (6-2) beat #21 West Virginia (6-2), 30-19 UCF (5-3) beat Marshall (5-4), 21-20 FSU (4-4) beat North Carolina State (3-5), 45-42 FAU (2-5) lost to Middle Tennessee State (5-3), 27-20 FIU (2-6) beat Louisiana-Lafayette (4-4), 20-17 (OT) Week 10 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (8-0) vs. Vanderbilt (2-7), Saturday, November 2 @ 7:15pm #17 Miami (6-2) vs. Virginia (3-5), Saturday, November 2 @ Noon #25 USF (6-2) is idle UCF (5-3) @ #2 Texas (8-0), Saturday, November 2 @ Noon FSU (4-4) @ Clemson (5-3), Saturday, November 2 @ 7:45pm FAU (2-5) @ Alabama-Birmingham (3-5), Saturday, November 2 @ 2:00pm FIU (2-6) vs. Middle Tennessee State, Saturday, November 2 @ 4:30pm
  17. As shaky as Florida is, Georgia is even moreso. Look for Tim Tebow to make a statement, else Florida may take a long, hard, fatal tumble. Miami got shocked last week, and at home. They have to on the road to bounce back. USF doesn't have a prayer. :mischief UCF and Marshall in their de facto rivalry game. If UCF wants to climb back to the top of the C-USA East, they must win this game. Hopefully they can build momentum after mauling Rice on the road. FSU finally managed a win. Can they build some momentum as well? FAU surprised analysts by beating Louisiana-Lafayette. Now they have a shot to prove they belong in the Sun Belt hosting MTSU. Speaking if La-La, now they have to go down the Turnpike to FIU. Can they follow in FAU's footsteps, though?
  18. MLS playoffs begin Thursday. The West gets the extra playoff spot for the first time since the points-based wild card system was employed in 2007. Interestingly enough, a conference 5th has made it to the conference finals each of the previous two years. The Kansas City Wizards, as E5 in 2007, shocked Chivas in the semis but lost to Houston in the conference final. Red Bull, as E5 last year, beat both Houston in the semis and Salt Lake in the conference final to win the Western Conference championship. This year, Real Salt Lake, as W5, will participate as the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The conference semifinal rounds are home-and-away ties. Columbus Crew (E1) v. Real Salt Lake (E4/W5) will begin at Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday night at 6pm EDT. They will play in Columbus on Thursday, November 5, time TBD. Chicago Fire (E2) v. New England Revolution (E3) will begin at Gillette Stadium Saturday afternoon at 4pm EDT. They will play in Chicago on Saturday, November 7, at 8:30pm EST. Los Angeles Galaxy (W1) v. C.D. Chivas USA (W4) will begin Sunday evening at 5pm EST. The second tie will be Sunday, November 8, at 7:30pm EST. Both games at the Home Depot Center, since they share a stadium. The first will be the Chivas home game, the second will be the Galaxy home game. Houston Dynamo (W2) vs. Seattle Sounders (W3) will begin at Qwest Field Thursday evening at 10pm EDT. They will play in Houston on Sunday, November 8, at 4pm EST. The MLS Cup participants will get berths in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League. The MLS Cup champ goes to the group stage, while the runner-up would go to the playoff round. If Columbus or Seattle, who have already qualified, go to the MLS Cup in Seattle (which would make Seattle the third MLS Cup home team ever, first since New England in 2002), here's how their berths would fall: If Columbus goes to the MLS Cup and wins, their Supporters' Shield berth to the 2010-11 group stage will go to the LA Galaxy. If the LA Galaxy also make the MLS Cup, then the Supporters' Shield berth goes to the Houston Dynamo. If Columbus goes to the MLS Cup and loses, their MLS Cup runner-up berth to the 2010-11 playoff round will go to the LA Galaxy. If the LA Galaxy also make the MLS Cup, then the MLS Cup runner-up berth goes to the Houston Dynamo. If Seattle goes to the MLS Cup, win or lose, their Open Cup berth to the 2010-11 playoff round will go to the LA Galaxy if the Crew fail to reach the MLS Cup, and the Houston Dynamo if the Crew do make the MLS Cup.
  19. USC should not be #5. Not with the way Cincinnati and TCU are handling their business, and certainly not when they're not even leading their conference. I pray to God that Oregon beats USC this weekend. Fortunately it will be at Autzen Stadium, "Where Great Teams Go to Die". Everyone is hyping up how Florida got a "big scare" (yet they won fairly comfortably in the end). Well Alabama had an even bigger scare (saved by blocked FGA at end of time), and Iowa had the biggest scare of them all (needed last-second TD to win). 1) Florida, 7-0 2) Alabama, 8-0 3) Texas, 7-0 4) Iowa, 8-0 5) USC, 6-1 6) TCU, 7-0 7) Boise State, 7-0 8) Cincinnati, 7-0 9) LSU, 6-1 10) Oregon, 6-1 11) Georgia Tech, 7-1 12) Penn State, 7-1 13) Virginia Tech, 5-2 14) Oklahoma State, 6-1 15) Pittsburgh, 7-1 16) Utah, 6-1 17) Ohio State, 6-2 18) Houston, 6-1 19) Miami, 5-2 20) Arizona, 5-2 21) West Virginia, 6-1 22) South Carolina, 6-2 23) Notre Dame, 5-2 24) California, 5-2 25) Mississippi, 5-2 Results for the Florida schools: #1 Florida (7-0) beat Mississippi State (3-5), 29-19 #10 Miami (5-2) lost to Clemson (3-3), 40-37 (OT) USF (5-2) lost to #20 Pitt (7-1), 41-14 UCF (4-3) beat Rice (0-8), Saturday, 49-7 FSU (3-4) beat North Carolina (4-3), 30-27 FAU (2-4) beat Louisiana-Lafayette (4-3), 51-29 FIU (1-6) lost to Arkansas State (2-4), 27-10 Week 9 Schedule for Florida schools #1 Florida (7-0) vs. Georgia (4-3), Saturday, October 31 @ 3:30pm (at Jacksonville) #19 Miami (5-2) @ Wake Forest (4-4), Saturday, October 31 @ 3:30pm USF (5-2) vs. #21 West Virginia (6-1), Friday, October 30 @ 8:00pm UCF (4-3) vs. Marshall (5-3), Saturday, October 31 @ 8:15pm FSU (3-4) vs. North Carolina State (3-4), Saturday, October 31 @ 12:00pm FAU (2-4) vs. Middle Tennessee State (4-3), Saturday, October 31 @ 4:00pm FIU (1-6) vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (4-3), Saturday, October 31 @ 12:00pm
  20. UFL

Orlando Rays replied to dgreco's topic in Sports
Tuskers beat California Redwoods tonight, 34-7. Obviously they are the class of the UFL right now.
  21. Houston Dynamo and LA Galaxy drew yesterday, 0-0. As a result, Columbus Crew clinched their second consecutive MLS Supporters' Shield, and clinched their spot in the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League, joining Open Cup winner Seattle Sounders. In addition, Dynamo, Galaxy and Chivas USA are all deadlocked at the top of the West, but Chivas has a game in hand, giving them an advantage. The MLS Cup finalists will join them in the draw. If that is Columbus Crew and Seattle Sounders, then the next two that will claim the Champions League spots are #2 and #3 in the Supporters' Shield race. Which will be between Dynamo, Galaxy, Chivas (all 45 points) and Sounders (44). All the top four in the West have clinched playoff spots. But Sounders does have an outside shot at #1 in the west. Here are the scenarios: Chivas USA wins the West if: They win/tie against Chicago Fire on Thursday and beat Houston Dynamo on Sunday (Two wins gives them an insurmountable 51 points) OR They beat Chicago on Thursday and tie Houston on Sunday (This gives them an insurmountable 49 points) OR They lose against Chicago on Thursday and beat Houston on Sunday AND Los Angeles Galaxy ties/loses to San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday (This gives them 48 points) OR They tie against Chicago on Thursday and tie Houston on Sunday AND Los Angeles ties/loses to San Jose on Saturday (This gives them 47 points; they have the tiebreaker over Seattle Sounders, in case they win and tie Chivas with 47 under this scenario) Los Angeles Galaxy wins the West if: They beat San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday AND Chivas USA ties/loses to Chicago Fire and ties Houston Dynamo (This would give Galaxy 48 points) OR They beat San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday AND Chivas USA loses to Houston Dynamo on Sunday regardless of their result against Chicago Fire (This would also give them 48 points; Galaxy has tiebreakers on both Houston and Chivas) OR They tie San Jose on Saturday AND Chicago loses to Chicago on Thursday and ties Houston Dynamo on Sunday AND Seattle Sounders ties/loses to FC Dallas on Saturday (This would give them 46 points) Houston Dynamo wins the West if: They beat Chivas USA on Sunday regardless of Chivas USA's result against Chicago Fire AND if Los Angeles Galaxy ties/loses to San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday (This will give them 48 points. They hold the head-to-head tiebreaker against Chivas, but not Galaxy) OR They tie Chivas USA on Sunday AND Chivas USA loses to Chicago on Thursday AND Los Angeles Galaxy loses to San Jose on Saturday AND Seattle Sounders ties/loses to FC Dallas on Saturday (This will give them 46 points) Seattle Sounders wins the West if: They beat FC Dallas on Saturday AND Chivas USA loses to Chicago Fire and ties Houston AND Los Angeles Galaxy ties/loses to San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday (This would give Sounders 47 points over 46 for the others.)
  22. US remains #11 in FIFA, and the top team in CONCACAF. That win @ Honduras really helped.
  23. UFL

Orlando Rays replied to dgreco's topic in Sports
The games are on HDNet and Versus. It's difficult getting publicity in the mainstream sports media for minor leagues.
  24. If Tebow is truly 100% back, then Miss State will be a good revenge game for them. But keep in mind, they were Florida's only loss last year. Clemson ought to be handled easily by Miami, especially since it's a Miami home game. USF continues not to fair well against strong Big East teams. Their tailspin will likely continue. UCF gets C-USA bottom-feeder Rice. They didn't do that terribly against Miami. It was bad offensive play-calling against a superior defense that killed them, and your defense can only do so much when that is happening. I don't see them coughing up Rice's first win of the year. You can chalk up @ North Carolina as a loss for FSU. Isn't it sad that FSU has fallen so far that North Carolina is an auto-loss now? I just don't see them winning this one. And you have to wonder how long they will let Bobby linger, because this epic doldrum is only hurting their recruiting. FAU is going to have a tough road against La-La, but FIU has a good shot at their second win.
  25. The AP Poll actually placed Alabama #1. However, this is no longer the AP Poll. The BCS is now in effect, where the Harris Poll, the Coaches' Poll and most of the computers put Florida #1 and Alabama #2. In a sign of fairness, USC, despite winning a close game over Notre Dame, was shuffled below six of the seven top unbeatens. Cincy rises into the top 5 after sending USF into its annual tailspin. :mischief 1) Florida, 6-0 2) Alabama, 7-0 3) Texas, 6-0 4) Boise State, 6-0 5) Cincinnati, 6-0 6) Iowa, 7-0 7) USC, 5-1 8) TCU, 6-0 9) LSU, 5-1 10) Miami, 5-1 11) Oregon, 5-1 12) Georgia Tech, 6-1 13) Penn State, 6-1 14) Virginia Tech, 5-2 15) Oklahoma State, 5-1 16) Brigham Young, 6-1 17) Houston, 5-1 18) Utah, 5-1 19) Ohio State, 5-2 20) Pittsburgh, 6-1 21) Wisconsin, 5-2 22) Arizona, 4-2 23) West Virginia, 5-1 24) South Carolina, 5-2 25) Kansas, 5-1 Results for the Florida schools: AP #1 Florida (6-0) beat Arkansas (3-3), 23-20 AP #9 Miami (5-1) beat UCF (3-3), 27-7 AP #21 USF (5-1) lost to #8 Cincinnati (6-0), 34-17 FSU (2-4) was idle (and they weren't smart :mischief) FIU (1-5) lost to Troy (4-2), 42-33 FAU (1-4) beat North Texas (1-5), 44-40 Week 8 Schedule for Florida schools BCS #1 Florida (6-0) @ Mississippi State (3-4), Saturday, October 24 @ 7:30pm, ESPN BCS #10 Miami (5-1) vs. Clemson (3-3), Saturday, October 24 @ 3:30pm, ABC USF (5-1) @ BCS #20 Pitt (6-1), Saturday, October 24 @ Noon UCF (3-3) @ Rice (0-7), Saturday, October 24 @ 3:30pm FSU (2-4) @ North Carolina (4-2), Thursday, October 22 @ 8:00pm, ESPN FAU (1-4) @ Louisiana-Lafayette (4-2) , Saturday, October 24 @5:00pm FIU (1-5) @ Arkansas State (1-4), Saturday, October 24 @ 7:00pm
