Marlins merchandise...
Has there been any word on when we will see more merchandise with the new logo. I am eagerly awaiting some of the Nike BP apparel and other things that we had this time last year. The t-shirts are okay, but I am waiting for the nice stuff. Any word on when we will see more?

Despite struggles it looks like FO has best intentions...
Despite our disappointing year so far I was encouraged by Beinfests comments in the Herald the other day. "I don't think we're going to force anything. Now we're 18 months away from the new building (ballpark), so we have to keep an eye on that as well. We want to get our core, our base that we think is gonna head into the building and start to look forward." Along with him saying if they trade players it would not be a salary dump. The main thing I am concerned about is our consistent future. There is no doubt in my mind that with out farm system we can compete. I just want to see the commitment from ownership and the FO to consitently win. It appears that after we got the stadium ownership is willing to possibly invest more in the team. Hopefully!!

New Hitting Coach
I agree the hitters approach have improved, but still strike out too much or situations where you need a runner moved over failing to do so. Still all things considered an improvement over Presley. YEa.. I would like to see the strikeouts come down too, but you cant see a complete change over night. Start small and build on it. I feel like our RISP at bats have been far better then they were earlier in the year even with the strikeouts. Overall good signs though

New Hitting Coach
I want to make a small comment that I think we are already seeing some small effects from Pressley's firing and a new hitting philosophy. The team has seemed to be a little more patient at the plate and has had slightly different approaches with RISP. I am not saying it has been huge, but you can see slight positive effects here and there. Guys have not gone up swinging at early pitches just for the sake of swinging or they haven't been trying to do too much. I am pleased with the slight progress I am seeing.

Bobby Valentine News and Rumors
http://sports.espn.g...http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5325157 Former Texas Rangers and New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine has confirmed he will fly to Florida on Friday night to meet with Marlins executives, including owner Jeffrey Loria, and discuss the club's managerial job. A source close to the negotiations said that the Marlins are expected to offer Valentine a four-year contract Can we just make him our manager already? Yes, we can. Organizations can go through the routine interview process alot quicker then one would think. If the FO has already decided on a candidate then it would only take 1 day of interviewing "other" candidates. It is a joke this so called process that organizations are required to go through to find a new coach.

Bobby Valentine News and Rumors
Such weird timing. Hanley's raking again, coming off a win, not like anything in the bullpen has changed. Bobby V was a disaster on the Mets, why him? Valentine was not a disaster for the Mets, he was almost the complete opposite. He took them to 2 NLCSs and a World Series, winning over 95 games twice and practically turned the francise around. Not saying that it was all him, they had a good front office, but to say he was a disaster is completely false.

Bobby Valentine News and Rumors
I kinda wish they would find someone else. Valentine is as qualified as a manager can come when you are looking for a replacement. Has been to a world series and has a proven track record of winning. He is known as a players coach, but also very intense. I believe someone said you would go to war for Bobby Valentine when he is your manager.

Marlins eyeing sub-.500 teams for relievers
I have a feeling the front office is going to get something done, possibly before the all star break. Offensively I think we are close to really breaking out and the starting pitching has been solid all year. We are going to add a arm or possibly 2 in my opinion. Logan Morrison is not going anywhere though.

Rockies may be interested in Uggla...per Buster Olney
Okay lets look at this for a second... and let me start off by saying I like Dan... but lets be honest... he is a good power hitter with good RBI numbers but is NOT A Miguel Cabrera. He strikes out way too much, and is a below average second baseman. I like Dan I really do, and I believe he has worked hard in all of those areas to try to improve, but he is what he is. If he can provide good bullpen help it is a very worthy trade. You will always miss 30+ homers and 90+ RBIs but he is also only hitting .210 with RISP and has 70 strikeouts already this year. Dan is a good player, but not great and if he can provide bullpen help I think it is a worthy trade. Our batting lineup does not begin and end with Dan Uggla he does not make it go.

Wiley vs St Claire
Anibal Sanchez and Leo Nunez have been vastly improved. However with Anibal it is more a case of returning to full health and Nunez it seems to be as simple as realising he was tipping pitches. Other than that, Nolasco hasn't done much (strikeout rate down), Volstad has been inconsistent (albeit on the harsh end of some losses). To be honest not too much has changed I don't think. Calling Volstad inconsistent this year is maybe a bit of a stretch. He has given us solid outings more times then not this year. His run support has been terrible and the bats have not put him in positions to get wins. You are right on about Nolasco though... we need to see more consistency from him. He has the stuff... just not the consistency.

On a more positive note...
On a more positive note then most wall posts... Cody Ross is playing some very good baseball right now. No one seems to have taken notice to that. There are some positives on this team. If Hanley and the bullpen can get it together... and we get some clutch at bats... things can turn quickly...

owner will get new manger by allstar game
This is a tough one. I believe Fredi is a good manager.. and deserves to get at least the whole year, but I think if we dont catch fire before the all star break he is going to be replaced. Lets not forget this team was 2 games under .500 last year at the break. I have a feeling management wants to go with someone more experienced at this point though. Rumors have been swirling and I think it is going to happen. Also, while I do feel Fredi is a good manager I have a feeling Hanley and Fredi do not jell well and while I feel Hanley is not being the best teammate... it will be Fredi's undoing if they do not get along and jive.

Jeffrey Loria...
The few times I've met him he has been very nice.... he tends to not spend as much on the team (obviously) compared to other MLB teams ... but then again the revenue stream in our market is not like others... fingers crossed things will change when we get the new stadium... He goes to almost all the home games, if he didn't really care about the team and it was just an investment vehicle he could be an absentee owner... but he is not... I agree MiamiLifer... I hope that once the new ballpark is in place... attendence improves and we can see more consistency as far as other things are concerned. I do believe Loria wants to win... I think the new ballpark was priority #1 and once that was taken care of... he would worry more about keeping particular players. Lets just keep our fingers crossed...

Jeffrey Loria...
"We all know how he was when he was with the Expos..." How was that exactly? Probably considered the worst owner in baseball when he owned the Expos. Was notoriously known for not willing to hold on to good players or to pay his young players. That is why I am having trouble deciding what to think. He does not resemble that type of owner at all the last few years. I have no complaints at this point... but I do not trust him... despite signing JJ, Hanley, and the new ballpark. Charlie Rose Jeffrey Loria interview I did find this interview... and it is very interesting... his comments contradict his reputation... I just wonder what Loria's intentions are. I have become very attached to Josh Johnson and some other players... and while I am used to the way the organization has run things in the past... I would like to see some consistency and a solid foundation.

Jeffrey Loria...
Hey everyone... first off I want to introduce myself. I am new to the boards and a long time fish fan. Even though we are struggling right now... I think this team is yet to get hot this year. I was wondering what everyone thinks of Jeffrey Loria? We all know how he was when he was with the Expos, and that is why I have always had trouble trusting him. Loria has done some fantastic things for the Fish... like the new ballpark. Do you guys think he is willing to stay committed to contracts to guys like JJ and Hanley... and Stanton in the future? Or are they just tradebait down the road?
