7/25 Post Game
I like Solano and Lucas as the utility men They cover all the spots in depth. They are useful at the plate. Solano can be a very nice pinch hitter. And they are cheap and will be for a couple of years.

7/25 Post Game
This Marlins team is very very promising and because of the young pitching. Three excellent young starters, one looks like an ace, another still has considerable upside and the third turns in solid performance after solid performance. And lots of good pitching in the farm system, certainly enough to fill out an enviable rotation. A nice closer and some nice other bullpen pieces if Loria wants to pay them to stay. The farm will fill out the bullpen. Maybe even Ceda will make it back. Day in, day out pitching is what makes contenders. Defense is good and should get better, anchored by a wonderful shortstop. The youngsters can play defense, including Moran. RF and 1B are a problem but correctable. Marlins need a couple of solid, professional hitters. Maybe they have them in hiding (Stanton, Lomo. ) Maybe a couple kids develop (Yelich, Ozuna, Moran.) Another year and some real bats and this team can be really good.

Ozuna has torn ligament in thumb... going to DL not AA
Too bad he didn't get on the minor league DL. The Marlins made a huge mistake in rushing him. He got injured in a Major League game. Why would you want to see Ozuna get screwed out of his rightful salary?

Poor Loria. Ozuna becoming a Super Two will really cramp Loria's lifestyle.

Hechavarria Leading Off
Hech is going to be a real good one. Once he got through his first two months in the bigs, he has been terrific. And watch his range rating go up as his batting average increases.
-
Yelich, Marisnick up; Ozuna, Dietrich down
Well, if Ozuna can stay on the DL the rest of the year, maybe he will get Super Two after all.

Yelich, Marisnick up; Ozuna, Dietrich down
This season was lost since before game 1. Why this FO is rushing ANY of our promising prospects is beyond me. Suck for a season. Get a nice pick. Have the prospects compete in spring training. And go from there. These guys play for the minimum and they can be bounced up and down for a while. JP makes a million and a half. Polanco two and a half. Loria won't make that mistake next year. With Stanton's crummy year and LoMo's mediocrity, neither will be out of budget for next year. Looks like less than twenty five million payroll in 2014.

Yelich, Marisnick up; Ozuna, Dietrich down
Well, at least the Marlins are becoming interesting to watch. This means none of the promising prospects will get to Super Two status. And next year's roster will have at least twenty players making the minimum. So long Ruggiano. Yes a team that goes over 30 innings without scoring is really interesting to watch. I was at at the game Sunday and it was painful. You have to experience the Marlins as you would a soap opera rather than as a professional sports team,

When to call up Yelich
Give Yelich the entire year in AA. He has not had and needs a sustained number of games to get his mojo back. Maybe bring him up after the AA season to get a few ML games under his belt.
-
When to call up Yelich
You really think they will just start him lead off from day 1? Doubt it. Probably hit lower in the lineup until he adjusts. Why? So you can bat him behind Ozuna or Dietrich or Hechavarria? I HIGHLY doubt that. Our lead off hitters can't even accumulate an OBP over .300. That's clearly our biggest glaring hole in the lineup and he will be called up to fill it... The glaring hole is three and four. Worst stats in baseball.

7/20 post-game
Stanton is on the roster because no one will give the Marlins what they want in a trade. And because he is very cheap But, Ozuna should be in right - as he showed during Stanton's injury absence.

7/20 post-game
All while we have an excellent RFer playing CF and an excellent CFer playing Left.

Hechavarria Leading Off
Hech looks better and better. We got ourselves a Shortstop and maybe a leadoff man. I'd like him in the number two slot because of the way he goes to right. Yelich, Hech, Morrison, Ozuna, Moran, JakeM, Dietrich, Mathis Awesome
-
7/19 Marlins @ Brewers
Hech now hitting one point less than the Great One.
-
Moran homers in first professional plate appearance
Off a lefty. Now THAT'S a prospect
-
7/14 Post Game
Well, the fact that the Marlins record is way above five hundred with Mathis catching a variety of pitchers and way way way below five hundred when he does not catch should be the ultimate "stat" But, to many, Fan Graphs is the final word.

7/14 Post Game
OPS is much more important than winning baseball games.
- Two Players
- Two Players
- Two Players

7/6 postgame
Dunn's got that give up late homer and the lead to a lefty down pat. Throw Dunn into any trade.
-
Guess Whose OPS is 1.005?
Morrison will do until Yelich is ready to take over 1B
-
7/6 Marlins @ Cardinals 2:10 pm
Stanton is so cool and awesome
-
7/05 Miami Marlins @ St. Louis Cardinals
Yelich is awesome in high A If he can continue to do well in AA against RHP, he has a place in the Show as a platoon player
