  1. You don't look at the numbers to determine whether a prospect is deserving of a first round pick or not. That's the WORST strategy to use. Either you can make plays or you can't. It's not like he's a DT where you are expected to eat blocks and stats are hard to come by unless you are absolutely elite. I'd rather take a guy with average measureables who balled in college than someone with freakish measureables who has yet to put it all together and may never. Elvis Dumervil comes to mind. Alot of people said he couldn't play or wouldn't amount to much in the NFL because of his size even though he dominated every one he went up against in college. He has worked out well. And I'm telling you that's flawed. No other way to put it. You can't just look at numbers. It doesn't tell you the whole picture. Btw, he only played in 7 games last season. I don't just look at numbers. I'm not a professional talent evaluater but when I'm making a list of players I want to follow during the draft I go with: 1. Players with very good size/speed and stats. 2. Players who are lacking physically but put up very good stats(unless they are so low on physical talent it is insane like a WR who runs a 4.98 40-time.) I leave underachievers like Jones off. You obviously think he will be a special player, I think he'll be a decent rotation type of guy. We'll have to wait a couple years to see who was right.

  3. The Lamar Miller pick was a great pick by the Dolphins. Reggie Bush/Daniel Thomas/Lamar Miller Hell of a three-headed monster at HB.
  4. Love how ESPN is stroking New England over the Chandler Jones pick when he did absolutely nothing in college. All the measureables in the world mean jack if you do nothing with them on the field. Did nothing? I can't disagree more. He's going to be a great pro. What exactly did he do to warrant being a 1st round pick? He had 57 tackles last season and 52 last season which is solid. He had 27 TFL in 32 career games -- nothing special and he has not yet shown the ability to get to the QB with only 10 sacks in those 32 games. The Big East isn't exactly the SEC either so you would have expected someone with his measureables to dominate the conference and he never did. Now if NE drafted him so they could get his brother to take out the opposing teams best player every week then it is a hell of a pick. We all know BB isn't above the shadier aspects of football.

  6. I trust Philbin and Sherman. At least they're putting their eggs into the basket of a young, promising QB instead of another washed up journeyman who was never any good to begin with. I'm hoping we get either Stephen Hill or Coby Fleener with our second pick.
  7. Really hope Tannehill falls to the Dolphins at 8 and they take him. Sit him behind Moore for a year, let him learn what it takes to play in the NFL and then see what he has once the 2013 season rolls around. Also, I'm hoping Clyde Gates sees alot more playing time this year.
  8. What fanofthefish said. If the fans fill the stadium, management will spend money. Miami is a destination city for free agents. If we do our part as fans the FO will do their part and continue to bring in high quality free agents as well as keep our current talent intact. If attendance is how it was at Sun Life, it's back to bargain bin free agents and trading proven talent for prospects. Totally up to us.
  9. Went with Ricky. When you can get 8 innings 5 so 0 bb from probably your 5th best sp that's huge. At worst, he's the #4; everyone in the rotation is definitely better than Zambrano. I think at best he's the 4th best. He's not even close to being on the same level as Buehrle or Anibal. At this point Nolasco/Zambrano are close although Zambrano has obviously had the better career.

Hopefully JJ gets back to his usual self soon. Reyes had a solid Marlins debut. Overall I think Hanley looked damn good at 3B. Ashame his bat wasn't working tonight. Does the batter's eye/outfield fence remind anyone else of a green screen? Would be awesome if they could project some kind of images onto it during breaks in the game or right after a Marlins win.
  13. Really have no idea why Loria thought this was a good idea. If it wasn't so sad it would rank right up there with Cincy's mayor and Mariah Carey.
  14. He has been horrible since 2008 when it looked like he would turn into a solid #2.. When you post a 5.06, 4.51, and 4.67 era in the NL the last three seasons you're not a quality pitcher. You guys say he has potential but the dude is 29 years old. At this point you're what your stats say you're. Luckily we have 3 solid starters in J.J., Buehrle, Anibal, and another in Zambrano who could very well have a season where his era is back in the 3.50 range.
  15. This is so sad and disgusting. All the kid was doing was walking home after buying some candy and a drink. This Zimmerman guy clearly has mental/racism issues. Just got done listening to the 911 call Zimmerman made leading up to the shooting. I think he planned on killing Martin from the get-go by implying the kid was putting his hand in his waistband. Who knew that just walking in the rain made you a suspicious person. This guy is walking in the rain, something isn't right with him. Then the Zimmerman douche starts getting even more paranoid when the kid turns and starts looking at him. Of course he's going to look at you, you're following him and he has no idea who you are. I think(am hoping) the "they always get away" comment comes back to bite him in his ass. He said it in a tone as if to say, "not this time!". The 911 call by a neighboor where you hear Trayvon screaming in the background and a shot goes off and the screaming stops made me want to throw up. This guy needs to go to jail for the rest of his life.
  16. Richard Marshall to Dolphins. Hopefully he's coming in to be FS.
  17. Great player but too much of a headcase. He better behave in Chicago or Urlacher is going to knock him on his ass.
  18. I'd take an injury risk HOFer who has shown no signs of decline when actually on the field and is willing to be flexible with his contract over someone who is healthy but has had only 1 good game and is looking for alot of $$ to sign. For years in Miami we have either had a QB but no HB or WR. A HB but no QB or WR. A WR but no QB. Sign Manning and we finally have all three at once.
  19. I'm looking to find something to do to pass time. Does anyone know of a sim league that I could possibly join that doesn't require me actually owning the game? Been looking for some without much luck. Don't care if it's baseball, football, or basketball.
  20. Shortly after those photos were taken, Tommy hit a hole-in-one, Rich did a 360 dunk, Frank and Stanton competed in a hr derby against each other.. Frank won, and Allison recieved a contract offer from the Panthers as well as Playboy.
  21. One thing is for sure, if a brawl breaks out I'm putting money down on the Marlins no matter who the other team is. Ozzie, Carlos, Gaby, Stanton, LoMo will smash you.
  22. That 3 from Bosh was clutch as hell. I couldn't believe how much Barkley and Miller were killing the Hawks. Good grief they were all over them the entire game. Except for.... IVAN JOHNSON!!
  23. Cousins wants the Kings to trade him.
