Is Tampa a better team than the Marlins?
Yes, the Rays are a better team. They have more speed and power; not to mention they are smarter hitters. I would switch our entire pitching rotation for theirs in a heartbeat longterm....Price, Shield, Garza, and Kazmir is better than us longterm.

Erick, are people not allowed to change their minds? Well, when you change your mind every other series...no. Not saying el_penguino is one of those people b/c I don't think he is, but there are plenty of people who do that on here. God you are annoying. You just argue for the sake of hearing yourself talk. You should be a lawyer if you were intelligent enough. All you do is rip people for no reason. You have any friends?

No not Ronald McDonald. I have a masters degree in hospitality management and I'm the GM of a 5 star/RCI resort. I'm 25. So lets recap. You're 25, the general manager of a five star resort, your family has been in the CIA for years, you think Obama has slaves... Did I miss anything? I think Obama has slaves? What are you talking about? Look at evidence. Have you seen the upcoming Census? Are you going to fill out 100 meaningless questions that the government is making you? It's not the sense of traditional slavery. It's modern slavery. Obama is getting rid of the middle class. He is doing away with 75% of business (small business). Give me some facts of the GOOD Obama is doing...NOTHING! You people would rather watch Michael Jackson or Kaley Anthony coverage then care about the Federal Government screwing you.

Obama Issues Signing Statement On War Spending BIll
From the Miami Herald....typically a left-leaning paper even realizes how bad the climate bill is as well! CBO: Climate bill costs to be modest. Related Content Congressional Budget Office By H. JOSEF HEBERT WASHINGTON -- A nonpartisan congressional study projects only modest household cost increases as a result of a Democratic proposal to limit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, contradicting claims by many Republican lawmakers that the climate legislation amounts to a huge energy tax on average Americans. The Congressional Budget Office report estimates that the proposed limits on greenhouse gases required by the House bill would produce a net additional cost to the economy of $22 billion a year by 2020, or an average cost per household of $175 after various cost-saving measures included in the bill are taken into account. The poorest households actually would save $40 a year while those in the highest income category would face a net increase of $245 a year, the report estimates. The findings contrast sharply with cost projections - some as high as $3,100 per household - use by many Republicans including House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio who repeatedly has blasted the Democrat's climate legislation as economically devastating to average Americans. "This analysis underscores that this legislation is effective and affordable," Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., one of the climate bill's chief sponsors, said Monday. Rep. Edward Markey, D-Mass., also a leading co-sponsor, compared the cost to "a postage stamp a day" and not the economic catastrophe suggested by the bill's opponents. The CBO study was released as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., struggled to get broader support for the bill from farm-state Democrats, who have been trying to get changes in the legislation to ease the cost burden on farmers and people in rural areas of the country who under the bill may face higher electricity costs than those in urban centers. These essential compromises have yet to be worked out, leaving in doubt Pelosi's goal to bring the climate legislation up for a vote by week's end before lawmakers depart for the July 4 holiday recess. The bill, covering nearly 1,000 pages, calls for a 17 percent reduction in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by 2020 from 2005 levels, and an 83 percent reduction by mid-century. Carbon dioxide, produced from burning fossil fuels, especially coal, is the leading manmade greenhouse gas linked to global warming. The reductions would be made by capping emissions on key polluting sources - coal burning power plants, refineries, factories and from motor vehicles, forcing a shift to cleaner energy and more conservation. The polluters would be provided emission permits with the cap declining each year. Some 85 percent of the permits would be given away, especially to energy intensive sectors of the economy. But others would be sold by the government and proceeds used to help people meet higher energy costs. The CBO study focuses on costs that would occur in 2020 when the economy would be expected to have adjusted to the change imposed by putting a price on carbon pollution. Republicans, responding to the study, said the report acknowledges that people will face higher energy costs. "This analysis shows average American household would pay $770 more per year with costs reaching as high as $1,380 per year," said Rep. Dave Camp of Michigan, the ranking Republican on the Ways and Means Committee who had requested the report. He referred in a statement to "gross" cost figures in the report that do not take into account what the CBO analysis said the bill provides for cost savings and offsets. Camp's spokesman, Sage Eastman, said the report also "ignores the transitional costs, the negative impact of jobs and earnings during the transitional period" before 2020. The CBO study said the aggregate most of the costs of the cap on greenhouse gases "would be offset by income and other benefits provided to households" under the bill. The overall annual cost of compliance with the emissions reductions before any offsets, credits or rebates was projected by CBO to be $110 billion in 2020, or about $890 per household. But the report said $85 billion "would flow back to U.S. households in the form of direct relief and indirectly through allocations to businesses and governments" with an additional net benefit of $2.7 billion as a result of other provisions.

Obama Issues Signing Statement On War Spending BIll
On Friday, President Obama signed a new war spending bill into law, but "not without taking a page from his predecessor and ignoring a few elements in the legislation," the Hill reports. Obama included a five-paragraph signing statement with the bill, including a final paragraph that outlined his objections to at least four areas of the bill. President George W. Bush was heavily criticized for his use of signing statements, declaring he'd ignore some elements of legislation by invoking presidential prerogative. The Obama administration announced in the statement it would disregard provisions of the legislation that, among other things, would compel the Obama administration to pressure the World Bank to strengthen labor and environmental standards and require the Treasury department to report to Congress on the activities of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF). The full text of Obama's statement is below, and available on the White House website here. * * * * * Today I have signed into law H.R. 2346, the "Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2009." This Act provides the necessary resources for our troops while supporting ongoing diplomatic and development efforts around the world. We face a security situation abroad that demands urgent attention. The Taliban is resurgent and al Qaeda is increasing its attacks from its safe haven along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The funding provided in this Act will ensure that the full force of the United States is engaged in an overall effort to defeat al Qaeda and uproot this safe haven. At the same time, funding contained in this Act will provide resources to help create political and economic stability in post-conflict areas. These funds will assist Afghans and Iraqis in protecting and sustaining their infrastructure and building their capacity for more responsive and transparent governance. The Act also provides critical support for continued U.S. diplomatic and development activity in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. In addition, this Act includes funding for other domestic and international issues, including nearly $8 billion to enhance our Nation's capability to respond to the potential spread of the H1N1 flu outbreak. It also expands the resources available to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by allowing it to boost its lending ability. Many developing countries are experiencing severe economic decline and a massive withdrawal of capital, and the IMF needs to make sure it has the resources necessary to effectively respond to the current financial crisis. However, provisions of this bill within sections 1110 to 1112 of title XI, and sections 1403 and 1404 of title XIV, would interfere with my constitutional authority to conduct foreign relations by directing the Executive to take certain positions in negotiations or discussions with international organizations and foreign governments, or by requiring consultation with the Congress prior to such negotiations or discussions. I will not treat these provisions as limiting my ability to engage in foreign diplomacy or negotiations. Remember candidate Obama? "t is a clear abuse of power to use such [Presidential signing] statements as a license to evade laws that the president does not like or as an end-run around provisions designed to foster accountability. I will not use signing statements to nullify or undermine congressional instructions as enacted into law." - Senator Barack Obama, December 20, 2007 (Boston Globe) Plus, bet you didn't know about this tidbit over the Climate Bill either: Objecting to the fact that 300 pages were added to the bill at 3 a.m., Minority leader John Boehner attempted a brief filibuster, giving time for colleagues and aides to scan the unread extra passages and present certain excerpts on the floor. What the hell happened to Obama's promise to publish online bills 5 days before they came up for a vote? This. Administration. Stinks. To. High. Heaven. Suddenly, Obama is morphing into bush and it makes me absolutely furious, ignoring laws and procedure, except when he doesn't. "Transparency/Change/Ad Nauseam" my @ss!

We need a starting catcher
Marlins OPS at Catcher- .774 Marlins OPS at 3B- .579 Obviously...that's because Bonfacio is horrible! Gaby Sanchez could have a mid .700 OPS right now.

We need a starting catcher
Bad timing to bring this up....Crawford is running on everyone this year, not just Baker. How has Baker performed well this season? He's been run on by everyone and anyone. David Letterman? Yeah he's the loser. He hasn't been funny since 1988. As we watch Hermida look horrible again in the outfield.....

Job Hunting Sucks
I agree, even with my Bachelors in Business Management I can't get many interviews right now (in Orlando). Obama and his spending is just going to make it worse for you. Wait until you get taxed on Global Warming....it's coming.

We need a starting catcher
Yeah I know how horrible Bonifacio has been. Boner will be a decent bench player in the future but Gaby Sanchez can replace him. The position we need the most if we are to contend is catcher. We get run on by every player in the majors and as I suspected Baker is back down to the .240-.250 range which is what scouts project him at. Baker is what he is- one of the best backups in the game. We need a good young catcher like Montero.

Marlins interested in Mark DeRosa
You cant be serious. First of all, Dominguez is tearing it up after a slow start. Secondly, he isnt in low A...he is at Jupiter, a step below AA, in one of the toughest hitters leagues in minor league baseball. I meant high A. Last season Dominguez hit .296 with 18 HR at Greensboro, a good year. This season he's slugging in the .300's, is K ing at a very high rate, and only has 4 homers (yes I know it's a pitcher's league). I'm not saying he's a bust at all. I'm saying he will NOT be an all star major league 3rd baseman. De Rosa can help us get to the next level, then it would be smart to get an extra bat with the good rotation we have. And sure Matt has had a better June but he's hit just .200 in May with a .270 slugging percentage! The jury's still out on him but I hope he picks it up.

Shaq traded to Cavs
You guys really have no idea how RIGGED the NBA is! They basically give Shaq away for free!!!! Ben Wallace is going to retire and the Suns are saying they might cut Pavlovic and his 4ppg and 42% shooting. What a joke the NBA has become. 20 ppg, 11 reb, and a hall of famer for NOTHING!?!? The league wants to give LeBron a championship soooo bad. They are desparate.

Who's our 3rd best hitter?
Who do you guys think is our 3rd best overall hitter after Hanley and Cantu?

Marlins interested in Mark DeRosa
Any upgrate is significant? This upgrade would be HUGE! DeRosa is a scrappy player who gives it his all every game. Get this done! Give up some prospects so we can compete. I would give up Matt Dominguez and a pitching prospect for him in a heartbeat. Why would you choose our top prospect at the position where we have the least depth? They can't afford to trade this guy, unless they are absolutely convinced that Gaby can be "the answer" at 3B, and even then they probably can't afford to. Some people are in love with their own players too much. I always thought Dominguez wouldn't hit enough to be a pro. I can't see Dominguez ever being a better pro than DeRosa is and I've seen Matt play alot. You don't ruin a chance at making the playoffs with a solid pitching staff by not trading an overrated prospect. Go for the playoffs! It's not about whether he's overrated. If he merely projects to an extremely average ML 3B, it's probably still a bad idea for the Marlins to trade him. They have no legitimate 3B prospecs in the pipelines as I understand it. Also, what about my post made you think I'm "in love" with my own player too much? He's still the top prospect at 3B. For someone who seems to feel he is such a brilliant writer, a little reading wouldn't kill you. What?! Matt Dominguez right now doesn't even project to be as good as Mark DeRosa in the future right now! He still has a long way to improve on his K's and his .300 slugging percentage. I know he's very young and great at D; I just don't see this guy ever becoming a star. Go for the playoffs and pull the trigger. Who knows if Dominguez would even be involved or if anyone would want him at this point. He isn't even hitting in low Single A.

Josh Johnson's Quiet Dominence
Josh Johnson is a stud. Look at his career ERA (3.29). It's the same as Randy Johnson. Grienke's career is 3.97. There aren't too many pitchers in all of baseball with a lower career ERA than JJ so far. Yes, I know it's brief but Johnson is IMPROVING!

Complaint to the Team
Why wouldn't they sell Yankee merchandise? There are more Yankee fans than Marlin fans last night. It's smart advertising.

Just keep watching MTV and American Idol. You have never managed a payroll for a large company. You have no understanding. LOL, I LOATHE American Idol and MTV. Nice work. While I don't like racking up a big debt, I believe that spending on programs such as the stimulus package helps to jump-start an economy that is in trouble during a deep recession such as this one. Spending money on projects such as building schools has two benefits: obviously you are building a school, but you are also providing work for people un or underemployed because of the recession. When I get off work today, I will explain exactly why Obama is enslaving us with debt. There is no way you will be able to argue this point.

Americans Believe Internet News is Most Reliable
I don't understand. I don't receive email forwards nor do I send them. Several of the things that you have copy/pasted in other threads are usually found in forwarded e-mails that are passed around the Internet. Usually these things are of an extremely conspiratorial nature (ie. the Bilderbergs, proof of a 9/11 government inside job, etc.). I didn't copy and paste ANYTHING from email forwards. All of this information is readily available ANYWHERE because much of it is true. Bilderbergs is a fact and is true. 9/11 inside job....I don't believe that but I also don't believe in Osama Bin Ladin (how we can't find him and he continues to put out secret tapes that our media finds). I'm not gullible like most Americans.

Americans Believe Internet News is Most Reliable
You didn't answer my question at all. I hate you... Sure I did answer your question. You hate me? Why because you can't face the facts that the conglomerates and elitists run this country and the World? They run the banking system, the federal reserve, and the media. Are you too naive to believe this? Money rules the World. Money is the root of all evil. Major sports are tainted. Referees are in jail. Elections are rigged. Corporate leaders steal. Congressmen don't pay their taxes. Look at the World we live in. You shouldn't hate me. You should become informed and educated instead of being a sheep and watching American Idol or Desperate Housewives on ABC (a channel showing things like New World Order 2012 and Health Care Nationalization). You will be better suited in the long run when everything gets REALLY bad. American Idol is on FOX I never said it wasn't. Read the paragraph again.

All you have are jokes here instead of intelligent people. What do you expect? When you break it down, Obama announced that his 2009 budget was projected to produce a $1,700,000,000,000 deficit. If you break that down you find that we're spending $4.657 billion EVERYDAY for a year, which breaks down further to $53,906.64 per second. In the time it takes you to read this paragraph the government will have spent more than what most Americans make in more than twenty years of work! Our children will question our sanity for spending money we do not have on "bridges to nowhere," skateboard parks, tattoo removal, and other pork-laden projects that politicians stuffed into "must pass" legislation. Our INTEREST payment on our national debt now stands at $11,000,000,000,000 or about $26 Billion per month- in interest ALONE. I don't expect anyone on this board to understand these numbers or realize what the government is doing to us. I doubt anyone here has ever managed a successful business or large company like myself. FutureGM, Just keep watching MTV and American Idol. You have never managed a payroll for a large company. You have no understanding.

Of course Bush was corrupt. He made us believe we were scared of terrorists yet he leaves the borders wide open. And he had us running down a guy in the mountains who kept sending out secret tapes. They are all corrupt.
