Posted March 30, 200420 yr who is the best announcer on ESPN or Fox? My vote goes to Jon Miller. He is everthing you could want from an announcer and is the only one in this generation that belongs with the greats (Harwell, Scully, etc.) The worst are Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Chris Berman.
March 30, 200420 yr I like Buck, but McCarver really kills his chances to talk more. I like Dan Shulman (ESPN Radio) because he is the classic baseball announcer: calls without straining his voice, works well with Campbell, and he loves the game purely. He was the voice of the Bue Jays to the latest generation of Canadians the way Mr. Van Horne was when the Expos were Canada's team. He crosses well in the US like Dave did to Canada and they call the game clearly and as it should be.
March 30, 200420 yr i think joe buck is the best baseball announcer since bob costas. i like jon miller and dave o'brien is good to. i HATE chris berman he SUCKS he doesn't even do a good job calling the HR DERBY. all espn's announcers do is criticize players if an error is made. i HATE all the espn announcers that are former players, they are all losers, except for harold reynolds.
March 30, 200420 yr Joe Buck and Dan Shulman are both excellent. Flip a coin as to which one is "better".
March 30, 200420 yr ya that pick of jon miller isnt a homer pick.....   joe buck bob costas jon miller (in no particular order) is it costas' fault he works for nbc?  if he were to sign on with ABC he would be doing baseball in a flash and would be on a top team.

ABC doesn't have baseball...yet at least. ESPN does and so does FOX. Costas likes to do the Olympics and Triple Crown. He isn't on too much and can quietly finish his career. If ABC gets baseball again in 2006, I expect Al Michaels, Jim Palmer and Tim McCarver to be the "A" team with Miller and Morgan as the "B" team.
March 30, 200420 yr Al Michaels (yes the Monday Night Football guy) is actually better at calling baseball. The man grew up with the Dodgers and Vin Scully.
March 30, 200420 yr AL MICHAELS IN PRIMETIME  Years Sport Hours  17 Monday Night Football 918  14 Postseason baseball 504  6 Baseball All-Star games 18  5 Olympics (hockey, other sports) 58  2 Olympic trials 12  4 Tiger Woods Monday specials 12  5 Boxing specials 10  2 Stanley Cup finals 11  6 U.S. Figure Skating Championships 12  Total  1,723
March 30, 200420 yr ABC and ESPN are both in the same house.   I know full well that ABC doesnt have baseball but their parent..Disney does.
March 30, 200420 yr ABC and ESPN are both in the same house.   I know full well that ABC doesnt have baseball but their parent..Disney does. then you should know michaels is abc-only as costas would be.
March 31, 200420 yr I'm a big fan of Miller/Morgan, I don't like Buck/McCarver too much simply because Buck, like Costas, tries to make everything epic. Miller and Morgan have great chemistry together, and I think they may be the most balanced team around now. My all time favs are Curt Gowdy, Bob Uecker, and of course Vin Scully...
March 31, 200420 yr im a big fan of joe buck...best voice in broadcasting i really hate mccarver...he really overanylizes the game
March 31, 200420 yr I like the team of Miller and Morgan. But I think Joe Buck did a great job last year in the playoffs so my vote would go to him.
March 31, 200420 yr Espn's new commentator, Mr. John Kruk. He's not the best but he's fun to listen to and he proved that in 03 with The Phils. Joe Morgan
March 31, 200420 yr are you trying to prove some point? no, just trying to correct your techinical mistake.
March 31, 200420 yr Joe Morgan is my fav right now. The Sunday night baseball crew is by far the best. Tim McCarver is annoying. I used to like Joe Buck, but it seems like fox has 'modernized' him. Same thing went for football. I don't like him as a football announcer now either.
March 31, 200420 yr I think dave o brien is the best. ever scince he was our announcer. and he got recognized by ESPN for a good reason. the man is VERY smart. always has something interesting to say and keeps you interested in the game. he also has a nice crisp voice for the job. so dave o brien gets my vote for best announcer keep the calls coming O B!! :thumbup
April 1, 200420 yr Chris Berman brings such enthusiasm and excitement to every game. On the occasion he does a game, it's going to be exciting no matter what.
April 1, 200420 yr Berman and Joe Buck are good. I loved listening to Costas when NBC used to have baseball.
April 1, 200420 yr Berman is allright, although he goes for that whole "whoever the favorite is, that's who I will talk about" routine. I just remember the terrible play calling in the 2003 post season where the announces seemed almost dissapointed by Marlins wins. ESPN in general is good, and Jon Kruk is great....FINALLY some criticism! But my fave is definetly Michael Kaye, who does the Yankees games for YES/CBS.
