March 31, 200422 yr What the hell are we going to do with this guy? Has he won Trader Jack over yet - with his latest performance? :notworthy
March 31, 200422 yr I say we hold onto him and use him possibly as trade bait to get a good left-handed reliever if Perisho, Phelps, or Tejera struggle...
March 31, 200422 yr Nunez continues to impress. With the injury to Banks, there is no doubt he makes the team.
March 31, 200422 yr That mean's he is leading the mlb in hr's,maybe we shouldn't pull the trigger i think we can find him a spot...
March 31, 200422 yr Yeah, 4 for 4 with 2 dingers....I don't want to trade this guy. Keep him on the bench. We're going to have such a good bench this year, that Jack will be able to give the regulars a lot of time off.
March 31, 200422 yr This is becoming absurd... Abe is doing so freaking well. We need to do something with him. They way I see it, Conine, Cordero or Nunez have to go. Cordero expects to be the first guy off the bench so he wont like it if nunez is the fourth outfielder. But it seems like a waste to leave nunez on the bench. I think he needs some at bats during the regular season, if he shows similar success then beinfest will have a decision to make. Either way, its nice to actually have a SURPLUS of talent on the bench. with red, cordero and abe we have three guys that could be starters on quite a few clubs. This is awesome
March 31, 200422 yr If i was Jack i wouldn't know what to do. Nunez has proven to be a good player in spring so you kind of have to give a shot at the pro level. If choi struggles, niner to 1st base and nunez out to left, if niner struggles nunez out to left field. :thumbup
March 31, 200422 yr Know why they'll hang onto Nunez? Because as much as everyone hates to think about it, Mike Lowell is a goner if we don't get a stadium. Then Cabrera moves to 3rd base, & Nunez to the outfield with JP & Conine.
March 31, 200422 yr Nunez Spring Stats (Up to the minute) AB 49 R 15 H 18 HR 8 RBI 18 AVG .367 SLG .918 That puts him in the LEAD for SLG and HR in MLB this Spring, and 2nd in RBI. Leads our team of course in all 3 Catagories. very nice.. =)

You never know when someone will go down to injury and he can replace any player in the OF if need be.
March 31, 200422 yr That mean's he is leading the mlb in hr's,maybe we shouldn't pull the trigger i think we can find him a spot... No Willis#1, Jorge Posada is leading the MLB in HRs he hit 2 3-run homeruns vs the D-Rays.

March 31, 200422 yr I think we hold on to him for a few months to see how Choi turns out. If he dosent do that well then Nunez can start. If Choi can get it done they we can trade Nunez or even Cordero to get another arm in the bullpen.

April 1, 200422 yr Forget trades....how about having a strong bench. Hey, we got lucky last year that people like Mike Mordecai came through big time. LH Pinch Hitters: Harris and Nunez RH Pinch Hitters: Cordero and Easley SuperSub: Mike Mordecai Backup CA: Mike Redmond It sure beats Banks and Fox as first men off the bench.

You know what else is good? We got some major pop off the bench now in Easley and Cordero...
April 1, 200422 yr Guess you guys didnt hear. But banks has been RELEASED and offered a minor league contract. I was at the game today and Nunez was the first to hit...With a homer...nothing special...Just cleared the fence.... His 2nd homer was a BOMB and i mean a BOMB hit the upper area of the scoreboard...it would have cleared any park in the majors with ease (Ramons real cool...had no problem signing autos) He went 1 for 2...battled real nice for the hit...fouled off like 3 or 4 pitches till he got one he hit hard to CF for a hit....other ab got K'd Also me and my kids will be in the sports section of tomorrows herald (according to the reporter)....but i wont hold my breath.
April 1, 200422 yr Banks is old news. still a nice guy .... id give a job, just because hes nice :thumbup

Redmond and Cordero, since they both DESTROY left handed pitching.

April 1, 200422 yr Surprise of ST? If Big Choi struggles is nice to know we have a player on the bench who can step right in to starting lineup. I would start Nunez over Choi because Nunez has the all the talent and is motivated to prove he is an everyday player. He is certainly showing that he belongs.
