Gen Antonio Lopez de Santa
Now I have seen futbol for years and years. I have seen numerous futbol players take the field. Freddy Adu is the real deal. Futbol will soon take America by storm and you damn Americans will learn what the real global sport is. Long live futbol! God Bless Freddy Adu. :notworthy

Gen Antonio Lopez de Santa
Did anyone ask for your sarcastic response. I am not referring the sport you damn Americans call football. I am talking about futbol. The only true global sport.

TarHeel324
america will always be indifferent to soccer, i mean futbol, in any non-world cup year. there just isnt an exciting american soccer, i mean futbol, league to hold people over between world cups

Do you even believe what you type. Futbol is by far the most popular sport in the world. Wake me up when baseball actually forms a World Cup, let alone makes it successful. World Cup = most popular and anticipated sporting event in the world.

Hugg
America will never cherish futbol like the rest of the world does sorry We won't cherish like others, but once we win a World Cup (and we will...one of the next 4, methinks) things will pick up a little bit. Once we win a Cup, that event itself will become much bigger here. You saw what happened in 02 when we actually put in a good showing and those games were on at 4 and 5 am. I believe we're in the top 7 in the World now and once Adu starts playing for us, Beasley and Donovan continue to mature, and we put Tim Howard in goal, we're gonna have a pretty damn good team. We've got a lot of quality young talent too. I don't think the MLS will ever be a major success, but it seems to be doing okay. They just can't get crazy and expand too much. Lcyberlina
To end this "Most popular sport" discussion... Neither Futbol nor Beisball are the most popular... Volleyball is, with 998 million participants worldwide and 218 affiliated national federations. It is followed by Basketball with 400 M participants and 211 affiliates, Table Tennis with 300 M and 186 affiliates and finally Futbol (Soccer) with 242 and 204. Baseball ranks seventh on the list with only 60 Million and 110 affiliates. Nevertheless, no one can deny that more people watch Futbol worldwide than anyother sport and there is no other sports event, except for the Olympics, that is as big as the world cup... It may not be the case in the US, but the US is not the world, contrary to what you may believe. Here is a little history behind the Most Popular Sport in the planet. :mischief Popularity of Soccer Around the World I am going to talk about the most popular sport in the world: football. Now, you may be having visions of huge quarterbacks, dressed up in their padding and helmets, parading down the field during the Super Bowl. But the other kind of football, the football the rest of the world knows, has no padding or helmets. This other football is known in America as soccer. In more than 175 countries across the globe, football, or soccer, rates as the number 1 national sport. Football dates back as far as thousands of years ago. There are records that show that ancient civilizations of Greece, Egypt, and China (among others) played an age-old form of football with a stuffed leather ball. Early games in Old England were like mob riots. There were no rules; it was anything goes! The games were so rowdy and violent that many English rulers tried to outlaw them. But it didn?t work. In fact, English travelers took the game with them, spreading it all around the globe. But there needed to be rules. In 1863 the Football Association was formed, or FA, in England. Gen Antonio Lopez de Santa
I am glad to see some nice futbol fans here. While sports like volleyball and etc may have higher proportions of players, there are reasons for that. However they cannot get anywhere close to the popularity of futbol. Its been once again shown how global futbol truly is in this world. I am very happy that people are actually taking of their damn American shaded glasses and seeing the truth.
