Jeremy Hermida inching closer to two things

Featured Replies

1. to .400BA(before the start of tonights game .392)

2. to a promotion AA before the summer begins to heat up :thumbup

Early prediction Jeremy Hermida will be starting in RF in 2005 for our Florida Marlins. Miggy will go to LF

Yeah I saw that in Baseball America.com that he's very close to a promotion to AA. I posted it in an earlier thread. He really is looking good so far, but I don't think he'll be in the big leagues opening day next year, but he may be a mid-season call up next year if someone goes down with injury. Conine will play one more year after this year and then Hermida will take over when he retires, and like someone said earlier he needs to develop more power before he makes it to the big leagues.

YES!!!! Hermida is my favorite minor leaguer!

I say 2006. He's still young and needs to develop his power. 2006 will be Stokes and Hermida time. Maybe Allison also.

You could be right, but alot will depend on how he hits in carolina(AA) this summer(which could be soon :whistle ). If he keeps this pace I can't see why the organization wouldn't have him fight for a spot on the team in 05' Power will come.

Let see what he does at AA before we start making predictions for '05.I don't see why he won't get a chance in '05 if he is successful at AA.

Is it possible he could make that jump if Conine gets injured, god forbid, next year?

I have watched Hermida extensively and while he is extremely talented, he will NOT be ready to join for opening day next year.

he will need at least a full season of AA, he'll get half of that this year and half next year. expect a mid-season callup with a shot at making the team full time in 2006.

He is only 20 years old and nowhere near ready physically and he is NOT Miguel Cabrera.

give him time, let him develop. he is on target and on the fast track. but he is still only in A ball. he needs AA time and maybe even a bit of AAA

Cool... Sounds pretty good to me. Hopefully he can keep a good pace up in AA. 2005 sounds about right to me. Maybe 2006. Don't want to rush him too much. Get him his at bats then call him up.

Miguel was hitting near .400 in double-A when he was called up... Maybe Hermida can pull a Cabrera...

Theres an open spot in Carolina in the OF as both Jim Kavourias and Pat Magness are off to very cold starts. If we still have Lowell in 2006, Cabrera will move to LF with Hermida playing RF. Hermida is as hot as any minor leaguer in the game right now and a call-up is likely

It's nice to have people in the farm system rather than having to rely on expensive free agents that might not produce.

eh? Prospects are more of a gamble than established ML free agents. But a team in our position has to rely on prospects to produce.

focus on the now. there likely will not be a Florida Marlins after '06. Team is destined to move. There remains more than a 30 million gap that has to be filled. It's sad but big time baseball is on the outs in south Florida.

Ummm I'm pretty sure they have said they can begin construction without the 30 million gap and try to go to the state next year, earlier and more prepared.

anyway...

I like Hermida...but the guy you really got to keep your eye on is Chris Aguila. This guy is kind of a dark horse and I think will be a very good MLBer some day. I also am intrigued with Eric Reed...not the Heat announcer either. I think the future is very bright for the Marlins...
