June 2, 200422 yr Well the 'Topes are home and the Mudcats are in Tennessee. It would probably be a quicker and easier flight for Willingham vs Treanor. Have either one of them been pulled from their respective teams lineup tonight??? We shall see...
June 2, 200422 yr the announcers were talking about how Beinfest was on the phone, which would indicate someone getting called up for tomorrow's 1pm game

June 2, 200422 yr Willingham is the quickest option, they may put Castro on the DL in order to bring him up. He's ready.
June 2, 200422 yr Who here thinks Castro is actully hurt? I think that putting him on the DL is the only way to keep him, so its a smart move for the FO.

Do we really need to keep him? :shifty We probably want to keep Castro as leverage in a trade for a starting catcher. It's still a bit early for trades to start.....so if we can keep him on the DL for a few weeks the timing will be better.
June 2, 200422 yr Author i think a DL stint can only be good at this point for castro. its tuff when people would rather see dontrelle hitting than castro
June 2, 200422 yr I think this is a sneaky way of Ramon getting some minor league at bats, as a "rehab" assignment. It doesn't require any options, so I think it will be his last chance to prove himself worthy to the Marlins...

It doesn't require any options, so I think it will be his last chance to prove himself worthy to the Marlins... I don't know if it was a plot, considering Castro removed himself from the game, not Jack or Wayne. See the article I posted in the "Treanor called up" thread.
June 3, 200422 yr Author Sure - got $10+M in your back pocket? With every spare dime (and a whole lot that I don't even think exist at all) going to this supposed stadium, any notions of signing big ticket players are strictly fantasy. obviously numb nuts, why would anyone take on kendalls contract?! i dont know if you knew but a deal could be worked out so that pittsburg pays part of the contract which would probably be the only way they could deal him
June 3, 200422 yr Author Why would the Pirates pickup say even half of his contract? They're still in the hunt at this point (kinda). If anything they'd trade him to an AL team who isn't going to hurt their playoff aspirations like we could. Why would the fish spend an extra dime for him when its not required and they'd have to give him up next year anyway? We are on top of the NL east with the C position as shaky as it is. It makes a lot more sense to fish in your own (inexpensive) pond when you've got MASSIVE outlays on the horizon for a stadium coming up. If you want to pass on a stadium, then I say fine - go on a buying binge and party on. If not NUMBNUTS, then its time to be realistic about what can and can't be afforded. wow :o
