CapeFish
bulls***, Sea Bass hits the homer and then the lead is given up. Choi comes back, hits the homer, puts them on top and AJ goes 7. You cannot win games giving up more than 3 runs a game with any offense. We need pitchers, we need them now. Admin
They played hard. The bullpen failed.

Tonight was but another example of what we lack this year that we had plenty of last year. The Mets were able to drive in runs when they had to tonight. We didn't. Pitching is part of it, not the whole.
rferry
Kind of funny that the team has sucked since Ramon Castro left and was never welcomed back by management. Maybe he was the team's spirit.
Guest Jack1
You can't blame the pitchers. We do not score runs when we need to. Jack doesn't know how in the hell to use the BP. Manzy has struggled the last couple of times out. Bump is a starter, pure and simple. It looked to me like he wasn't even warmed up. This team sucks and so does Jack McKeon and his staff. ChoitotheWorld
The teams needs one set-up guy, such as Kim, and for Bump/Wayne/Howard to step up as a another reliable reliever. Koche should also improve like Benitez and fox did. Another bat could help as well. Then the team will play better.
Marlins2k3Champs
Ramon Castro didnt leave. He's still rehabilitating that toe of his.....Right now a big of a priority is run producers
DogFish
because Manzy has struggled last two times, we should ship him to AAA. Perisho has struggled most of the season, so we should ship him to AAA. Bump is a starter; therefore, he should be in AAA starting instead of the ML. Jack, blame whomever you feel but when you realize that we have dont really have consistency in the bullpen, you will realize this team is not that good. A lot of players last year had career years, the manager had magic, the GM got lucky and we won. Niether three is happening this year. Marlins93
The sad thing about this is that Manzanillo has only had 2 bad outings that I can remember, his last 2. Bump gets Valent to hit it 2 inches to the left and the inning is over with the score 4-3. Â Of course it didn't happen that way...the Marlins have not gotten many breaks this season. But you need to create your own breaks, and it's not happening. I have to believe that this team with it's current roster can and should play much better, and it's not too late for that to happen. However, a few more games like tonight's and it could be the beginning of the end. Â Bottom line tonight...Phillies down by 4 late, come back and win. Marlins up by 1 late, lose by 3. Marlins2k3Champs
Manzanillo shouldn't be shipped back to the AAA. Him and Benitez have the lowest ERA's in the bullpen.

DogFish
Yep. minor injury..could not stand the pressure of failure. will never play for marlins again   agree with the last statement. prolly trade willis or Penny first, beckett has a lot more potential
Marlins2k3Champs
trade willis? dude get off the crack pipe
jonnylons
Tonight, the bullpen failed. This team cant get anything going because there is always some facet of the game that fails them. But it will even out - this team does have a lot of talent and heart. Â Look, if that hit that squeaks by AGon in the 7th (?) just goes an inch closer - we turn a double play and out of the inning. Â Chill out.
farmer_fran
Willis and Beckett will not be traded, their not going to get rid of 2 guys that they afford for another 2 or 3 years.
DogFish
Why not trade Willis? He could be a 1 year wonder? has a funky delivery, high 80/low 90 fastball and no change up...yet
rferry
I don't think you trade Willis. Southpaws that young and with that kind of potential need to be kept. A little trip to the bullpen until he works his jitters out might help the team though by finally getting 6 innings from their 5th starter and an overpowering lefty in the 'pen. Izzie
I don't think it's a "heart" issue. If you wanna look further than the sucky bullpen, I would say something's just not clicking like last year all starting with our speed. I mean Juanpy can't steal a base if his life depended on it these days.
CyggyMarlin
This team has a hard time coming back down by a run or 2, as soon as they trail, it's like they pack it in sometimes or they do something stupid and destroy a rally (bad baserunning)...They don't seem confident or hungry.. I watched the 2003 DVD last night and then see them now, you can see a big difference with their confiddence level...They were once a fun energetic bunch that shocked the world, now they are struggling for an identity and the enthusiasm that made them World Champs...Look at the teams ahead of us now, a run or 2 difference doesn't matter, they know how to chip away and come back...If the Marlins can't figure out how to improve with RISP shortly after the ASB they will be done..The Phillies are turning it up as is the rest of the NL East (minus the Expos), Marlins better find that winning formula soon... FLCL00
correycane is right in his own simplistic way. this team doesn not have the heart it had last year. they will NOT catch the phillies at this rate. i say its time to think about next year cause now its a race betwen the mets and philles while the marlins pulled themeselves into third. just pathetic. this team NEEDS consistant offense. especially w/ the bullpen we have we need to score runs, and its not gettin runs. you think 3 runs is enough?plz! this team needs at most 5-6 runs to have a chance to win. and if its a close game we cant have hitters up there that were already saying "oh easy out".  yea you all will say theres still the second half and these next two games, but i dont see any ray of hope. and despite my past negativity posts i kno and you all know theres no light at the end of the tunner this time around
Craig
It doesn't matter how hard you play when you have no bullpen and serious issues with stability and consistency in the lineup.
