August 24, 200422 yr Hey, blackru_fish, you wouldn't happen to have orange-red hair would you? 524034 Errrrr..... NO. I have very dark hair, always have done.
August 24, 200422 yr when barry gets off the juice maaaaayb we'll pitch to him....its a no win situation if u pitch to em the basterd dosent strike out! his ethier gonna hit one to ft.myers and we get lucky he hits it right at sum-1
August 24, 200422 yr Actually in that earlier series in SF we lost three of four, but it was a very deceptive 3 of 4. In all those games we could not hold on to leads even though our hitters were nailing the ball. Truth is we lost 3 games that could of all been wins but werent. In this series we need to play smart. Obviously the hitters need to hit with risp and so forth, but we need to walk bonds if we can. Its not about ego its not about AJ wanting to pitch to him, all that matters is scoring more runs than the other team, and barry is perhaps the best hitter of all time, if he can hurt us we dont give him the chance. I rather walk barry and if the next to hitters make hits barry scores than giving in to barry and letting him score a run via the homerun ball.
August 24, 200422 yr IIRC.. we lost those games because we walked Bonds every time he came up and those 'bad' hitters around him knocked him in.

August 24, 200422 yr The only times you pitch to Barry is if we have a good lead, or he comes to the plate with nobody on. We can take more chances early in the game, but don't let him beat you in the late innings.
August 25, 200422 yr I rather let up a Bonds solo homer than a Bonds walk and Pierzynski double. Baserunners should be avoided at all times.
August 26, 200422 yr The problem I had with the 10th inning walk of Bonds was leaving Rudy in after it.

August 26, 200422 yr I say pitch to Bonds.I'm tire of watching him get a free pass and killing you in the end with runs.
August 26, 200422 yr I don't normally mind walking Bonds much, but I am totally against walking a guy when it loads the bases. Too much pressure on the pitcher. So many things can now happen to lose the game... walk, wild pitch, hit batsman, just too tough a situation to put him in.
August 26, 200422 yr Walking him with men in scoring position is one thing. But walking him with no one on? Thats pathetic. It always comes back to bite you in the ass, and today, it did, twice.

No telling when one of those is going to get away from him.

August 26, 200422 yr I've always been completely against walking Bonds (mainly because i'm greedy and want to swing the bat :lol ), this was a horrible decision by Jack.
August 26, 200422 yr We pitch to Barry because we think we can get him out and we did. You just got to pitch smart to barry, you cant leave anything hanging or in his zone. Dontrelle was a perfect example on how to get Bonds out.
August 26, 200422 yr Oh, those bases on balls. The come back to haunt almost every single time. Walking Barry with no one on? That was obnioxous to watch. I'm still wondering why Luis Castillo didn't score from first on A-Gonz' "near-homer" that was a double. The ball was crushed - even if it wasn't going to be gone, it was sure to hit the tower and bounce in (which it did) - why on earth didn't he score on that? Bad read on the ball? The next batter, Luis was out at home on a fielder's choice, and that run would have been the deciding run in 9 innings for the Marlins victory. Oh well.
August 26, 200422 yr Yeah, let's keep walking Bonds because he's really stroking the ball against us. Please.
August 26, 200422 yr The problem I had with the 10th inning walk of Bonds was leaving Rudy in after it. 526678 Defintely agree
August 26, 200422 yr We should just pitch to Bonds. Willis struck him out. Our pitchers just have to pitch smart to him and try and get ahead in the count with him.
