October 17, 200421 yr Is Ben Roethlisberger the steal of the draft or what?!!!! I might be sounding like a homer, but this guy has got the skills, smarts and desire to win. I originally thought the Steelers were going to get Philip Rivers, but when he went to the Chargers, I thought we lost our only chance at a QB because Roethlisberger was predicted to go in the top 10. When Ben fell to them at 11, I couldn't believe it. Seeing him live for the first time right now, as a rookie, I can really say this guy is going to be great once he gets a season or two of experience. comments?
October 17, 200421 yr Him and Plexiglass will be a great combo for quite a few years if he re-signs. Also, having one of the best WR corps in the NFL doesn't hurt either.

October 18, 200421 yr Certainly will. At the current moment the trade for Eli is looking better and better as that first round pick gets lower and lower. Ben certainly has the tools but Eli has pedigree and the composure. Presonally I think Eli's going to be a better player, he was a great leader in college and truned around an entire program.

October 18, 200421 yr The only reason Rivers went 2nd was because the Chargers are cheap and didn't want to shell out the money for Eli like they should have. So they made him look like a greedy kid when any one of you would have done the same thing and got who they wanted while trying to rape the Giants. I'm just glad it's blowing up in their faces.

Steelers are a great team, but it's not because of Ben, it's the offenenisve line, Bettis and the running game, and Ward. Ben is a decent quarterback, but IMO he dosent deserve all the credit he gets, the players mentiond above do. When you only throw 16 passes a game, it's hard to get picked off all that much. The steelers running game is sick and thats why there winning

He plays relatively mistake free football...and with the running game and D of the Steelers, that is going to equal wins. He's a good quarterback...but not exceptional or anything. I would take him over Joey Harrington (or any other QB that makes stupid game changing mistakes) anyday.

I dont think Roth has gotten the chance to do what he wants on the field. If anyone thinks the man cant throw the rock around, go back and look at Miami-OH's games against some of their bigger opponents. We have to remember this guy is only in his second year, hasnt done anything to hurt his team, and in his career only one team has beaten him. When he actually gets the chance to throw the ball around like he wants, then we will be able to judge him a tad more fairly.
October 24, 200520 yr I think the true test for Ben is when he doesn't have a monster running game on his side and he has to carry the team on his shoulders consistently. Outside of a couple games last year (against Dallas I believe) he didn't have to throw the ball around a lot to help the Steelers to a win. With experience his overall passing ability will improve...he has never been too impressive when he has to throw a lot of passes (like the Jets playoff game last year). However, like almost every NFL quarterback, experience is the best way to improve. I think he is learning a lot right now and will be a great QB, intelligence and talent wise, within the next couple years...however, I'm not going to put him in a group of top notch QB's right now.
