Ramon Castro

Featured Replies

Don't want to put a damper on all the good stuff going on, but Castro, who could have a Rip Van Winkle beard by now, comes off the bench, goes 2 for 3 with a Home Run. What's wrong with this picture?

pudge might nto be here till past the season. So Castro will probably start next season. On Baseball tonight Peter Gammons said Pudge was a Long Term Deal and wants to go to texas which probably be he wants out.

Arnie - what's the problem?

Take delight in knowing that our catcher of the future is on the bench. If and when Pudge moves on Ramon will be able to step right in.

Hopefully Redmond can be moved for some relief help. Castro could them assume the backup role full time.

Consider it an "abundance of riches."

I'm a baseball fan first, then a Marlins fan. And for the sake of justice, if Ramon isn't starting next year either he or Redmond needs to be traded. He needs more playing time, it's getting ridiculous.

Did anyone see bbtn they said that pudge is looking for a long term contract with the rangers next year cuz he dont like 1 year contracts i hope he gets singed by us again!

we wont sign pudge, we dont really need to, not with castro, pudge will finnish the season here and we'll ride his hot bat into the WC, but even if we win the WS ( ;) ) pudge wont sign with us next year

You're right, from the financial perspective that controls baseball today. But, I see a talent that is not being developed.

I see the situation as the following:

A. Castro is learning the trade from one of the best of all-time (Pudge)

B. McKeon uses Castro in situations/games that are not high pressure

situations - Positive win/win to gain experience.

C. Castro, in the bullpen, will develop an understanding of the fine pitching

staff.

D. Castro has nothing to learn in the minors. He will get at bats

E. People around baseball agree that Castro is the future catcher for this club

F. McKeon's take on Pudge is that he is a true leader and coaches Castro and others.

Not just getting ridiculous. It is ridiculous. It has been argued that by keeping Castro on the bench it will lower his arbitration leverage. Sad.

He has already been developed...

No more to do but wait 'till he's the starter...

Pudge want to stay here though right?

there is no reason for Pudge to stay.....we wont pay him the money

and Arnie, where do you want Ramon to play?

Pudge is on FIRE

We can let go of Castro he is the future we have on of the best catches in Pudge but he will be gone then Castro will be our main catcher with red as the backup there is nothing else to be done Castro will have to wait one more year

Ramon Castro has always showned signes that he can start at this level. He has produce for us in the bench withClutch hits or if not if has a good night. Lastyear he didnt get to start much because Mike Redmond was having a very good year. This year he was suppose to be starting alot untill we signed Pudge. So he hasnt gotten any playing time so we were thinking about trading him ince he cant start (only has started 3 games for us). I dont see pudge leaving, he will probaly stay another seasn more so we ough to trade Castro...

For 10 million he should be "on fire." Better late than never. Still was a dumb financial and strategic move. We didn't need a catcher. (certainly not at that price!) Still think there is merit (however disgusting) to the argument that we are keeping Ramon on the bench to minimize his arbitration leverage. D. Lee is always weak first half. I would have used Castro a little at first just to keep him in the game. But, we don't manage player development, we manage contracts.

Pudge is a Ranger after this year.....

Ramon will start next year

can we start using periods? They look like this this ---> .

Castro should just sit back on the bench until Pudge is gone, then next year he will start and play to his heart's content with Redmond playing about a third to half of the games along side Castro.
