December 19, 200421 yr I do not subscribe to any of the Insider services on ESPN so I can't confirm this but according to a post on orioleshangout.com, one of the Insider reports (12/19) says Aubrey Huff is available. Be still my heart.
December 20, 200421 yr hey guys, just checked rumor central on ESPN Insider.....It does have a post about the Rays trying to move Huff. Does not list any teams that are interested at the moment so don't get too excited. Hope that helps.
December 20, 200421 yr Author Thanks Fish2, I was going to have the thread deleted in a while if no one could confirm the rumor existed. The guy plays LF, RF, 1B, 3B, there is no one in the farm system (yes, I'm saying I would trade Hermida tomorrow) for Aubrey Huff. If we signed no one else this off-season and we got him I'd say Admin B. did a phenomal job. Luckily my flame-retardent suit is back from the cleaners
December 20, 200421 yr Huff is in the 2nd year of a 3 year contract I believe. Set to make 5 million in 2005 and 7+ in 2006. I have trouble believing they'd deal him right now.... maybe after the 2005 season. If you can't afford 5 million for an All-Star calibur player, what are they doing? Still if he's available Beinfest should be all over this like stink on Wayne Huizenga.
December 20, 200421 yr huff is a great player with limitless potential. i agree with Marlins2003 in that I would trade anyone on the farm for him. how about we try to get them to take on enc by doing something like Olsen (or stokes if they dont particularly want pitching) and enc for huff and maybe a low level prospect
December 20, 200421 yr I'd read a report from the oh-so-reliable Sporting News' Ken Rosenthal a couple of weeks ago that said just about anyone from Tampa Bay was available: The Devil Rays are willing to trade any of their five highest-priced players ? IF Aubrey Huff, C Toby Hall, IF Julio Lugo, RF Jose Cruz and closer RHP Danys Baez ? but not for cost-cutting reasons. "If we could get the right young player or two and free up money to get another player, then we're getting two or three for one," G.M. Chuck LaMar says. Huff is the least likely to depart.
December 20, 200421 yr u really think the D-Rays would take ANOTHER outfielder? besides, idk if i would trade hermida for huff
December 20, 200421 yr From Insider: Dec. 19 - The Devil Rays' only major-league acquisition so far has been catcher Kevin Cash, and they're looking for ways to trade their best hitter Aubrey Huff, the Toronto Star reports. Huff hit .297 with 29 home runs and 104 RBI last season. He made $2.66 million Why is this report coming from a Toronto newspaper?
December 20, 200421 yr You know, if you can do this trade and keep Hermida somehow (I love Huff and would just love the chance at having him on the team) that would be a SICK lineup for years to come - Cabrera, Huff, and Hermida.

December 20, 200421 yr It would take a very attractive package of prospects to acquire Huff, but I'd do it if I were GM.....which I'm not :plain
December 20, 200421 yr I smell BS... LaMar said in an interview a couple of days ago that he won't trade Huff...
December 20, 200421 yr i would easily send AJ, Stokes and T-Hutch for him and another scrub 638958 u do that... maybe if the scrub is scott kazmir...
December 20, 200421 yr i would easily send AJ, Stokes and T-Hutch for him and another scrub 638958 u do that... maybe if the scrub is scott kazmir... 638963 why do people around here think they are gonna get Beltran and Bonds plus $56 million by dealling AJ Huff is cheap and good ... same with AJ if that other scrub is one of their mid-talent starters I would do it ... maybe Brazelton or something
December 20, 200421 yr AJ's talent > Huff's talent though huff can be awfully good i bet u could get that done straight up. y throw in stokes and hutchinson?
December 20, 200421 yr AJ's talent > Huff's talent though huff can be awfully good i bet u could get that done straight up. y throw in stokes and hutchinson? 638965 I dont know ... as leverage perhaps ... they would be looking to get prospects, and I really dont think that those two are going to be what they cut out to be plus why would they deal Huff and his cheap salary only to get AJ and have to pay him tons of money at the end of the year, or actually watch him walk away ... the prospects make the deal

I'm not too fond of stokes either
December 20, 200421 yr I'd trade A.J. for anyone to help the offense if Beinfest can acquire Odalis Perez to replace him.
December 20, 200421 yr Left handed... Check. Power hitter... Check. Can hit .300... Check. Can play 1b/OF... Check. WTF are we thinking about?!?!
