Florida Marlins Could Add Barry Zito In Spring

Featured Replies

I have heard from David Sloane, Carlos Delgado's agent, that the Marlins are willing to make a move for the 29 year old left hander if he is made available. Here are the details:

Florida Gets:

SP Barry Zito

OF Charles Thomas

Oakland Gets:

SP Ismael Valdez

1B Jason Stokes

RP Mike Heu

In addition to this trade, there has been a reported deal between the Marlins and Nationals. Here are the details:

Florida Gets:

OF Termel Sledge

Washington Gets:

RP Ben Howard

RP Nate Bump

Finally, I have gotten a report that the Marlins are close to a contract offer of 6 years at 50.4 million to SP A.J. Burnett and 4 years at 27.2 million to CF Juan Pierre.

I discounted similar reports a couple days ago.

Something about this posting that suggests credibility.

Far-fetched, but possibly credible.

But, why would we want Sledge when we have Encarnacion and Conine?

since you have no posts and are posting a "tip," you're gonna get a severe beatdown unless your rumor somehow comes true.

that said, let me show you why i'm certain you're lying:

and 4 years at 27.2 million to CF Juan Pierre.

this dude is talking s*** look at his other post and you'll see why i said this.check out his post from yesterday: http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index...showtopic=39182

I dont know how much crediability this guy has but I would rather resign AJ and JP than trade for Zito, even though he would be great down here.

I wish that would happen but we don't have room for Juan E., Conine, Aguila, Charles Thomas, and Terrmel Sledge all in the OF. Stokes might be enough to land Zito, who knows? No way we could get Sledge for 2 crappy pitchers.

I might just trade Stokes for Zito straight up

Too bad Billy Beane wouldn't.

It is kind of amusing to watch how in all these complicated multi-team, multi-player deals the Marlins come out with all the best players..

:p

This trade makes more sense seeing as Oakland needs a 1st Base Prospect but they wouldnt trade there Ace for Strokes or Thomas for Valdez remeber this is Billy Bean were talking about.

Interesting "Piganator" offers no information on himself/herself in the Member Profile. Something herein rings untrue.

LOL Yeah. :lol

isnt swisher their 1b of the future?

The Aj 6 year deal is so ridiculous that everything else he wrote should be ignored.

Well nice work you made a tiny bit more realistic trade, but it still sucks.

As for Bump and Howard I would not be surprised to see them traded similar to the Howard-Neal trade last year because I think both of those guys are out of options and I'm sure someone would take a chance and pick them up off of waivers when they are sent down at the end of the spring

Here's Piganator's FIRST POST, in the MLB forum, from 2 days ago:

Hey,

I'm glad to be apart of this excellent fan forum. Now, on to the fact of the matter.

I was looking at our pending free agents and the pending free agents from other teams. I have a few moves that the Marlins should do in the upcoming show.

1. Resign CF Juan Pierre to a 4 year, $27.2 million contract extension.

2. Resign SP A.J. Burnett to a 6 year, $50.4 million contract extension.

3. Sign SS Carlos Guillen to a 3 year, $10.5 million contract.

4. Sign OF Jose Guillen to a 5 year, $31.6 million contract.

5. Sign SP John Thompson to a 3 year, $11.2 million contract.

6. Sign SP Jose Lima to a 2 year, $4.5 million contract.
