Had a great game. Not on paper, but Juan had better plate discipline tonight then I have ever seen from him. He had some great plays in right. Just an all-round great start to the season for Big E.

I still don't think he's much of a hitter in general, but showed nice patience tonight, & terrific in right field as usual. :thumbup

Its still too early for all the praise but yes he is great at D like AGon.

I'd say getting on base two times in a game is good on paper. But I'm one of those OBP% types.

Seabass and ENC's defense are what kept us in this game and allowed us to survive for 13 innings.

He's gotten some bad jumps on balls the past 2 days, but made up for it with his speed. I like his approach at the plate though. Hope it continues.

Yesterday it was the Slam, tonight the superb D.

 

Enc is quickly solidifying his starting spot in RF.

 

In contrast, Conine has had two weak ABs. He'll come around, but the point is he hasn't made a statement like Enc.

I've been very impressed with Enc's approach at the plate, let's hope he keeps it up.

But you can really tell he is a different hitter when he is healthy not a Great hitter but his stats of '03 dont seem to out of range. .270/17/90ish rbi's ?????

I just don't get this "bad jump" thing.

 

On the several plays I saw him make he made the correct move to go back on the ball and then come in to catch it so his body was moving in the correct direction (read toward the infield cut-off man) to make the appropriate throw.

 

I did miss a few minutes of the game when I was putting my kid to bed but otherwise I thought absent the miscommunication with JP he played his position well tonight.

I agree. I failed to see anything bad from Juan fielding wise.

Only in yesterday's game did Enc have to put on the jets to catch up to a ball. Blame that on the strong wind coming in from RF. He got the ball, so no harm, no foul.

I saw it in atleast two plays, which accounts for about a third of his chances. The one last night when he had to make the catch behind his head and across his body. And another tonight in which he got a late jump and had to dive for the ball.

I don't think DS is that type of ballpark where you can determine what direction the wind is blowing. It tends to swirl a lot.

 

If any of you have been at DS at night during a light drizzle can see that the rain actually swirls back up in the OF sometimes. Yesterday the flags in center weren't moving much. The wind tends to blow real hard above the stadium.

It looked the wind actually stood that ball up. When it came off the bat it looked like he really crushed it, and then it barely made it over the scoreboard into the first row of orange seats.
