Hey PhxPhin....

heh ... and hence the problem of addiction :cool

if it is any consolation, the CFO of my segment is in the city, i have have compliance meeting all day and a half day tommorrow, so there is a good chance my addiction could cause more grief than just burnt pizza if the wrong person walks by at the wrong time :(

As I was listening to last night's game on the radio and then on TV, it was really pathetic how the Mets fans at the game were able to drownout the Marlins fans. I don't care how many 80 year olds moved to Florida, the fact of the matter is if they get a "Lets go Mets" chant going, our fans should get a MUCH louder "Lets go Marlins" chant to drown them out. Instead, we get a chorus of boos. Give me a break. Keep blaming traffic, no free donuts or Everybody Loves Raymond reruns, but the Marlins have an apparently well deserved stigma of being bad fans.

To the Marlins fans credit, it's a general thing in Miami.

They only show up for winners.

And they only show up for the World Series/Playoffs :banghead

I was on the phone for about 2 hours trying to get WS tickets... and when I got through there were no tickets left. I guess all the bandwangoners wanted to be at the game.

It makes me mad :mad The people who support the team cant get tickets but the people who dont go to the games get tickets.

I remember having season tickets in 98'-02' where nobody went to the games..

Today will be a bigger crowd. I think for sure we will pass the 2 million mark this season.

Leiter vs. Pedro.... There will be over 25,000 at the stadium today *hopes*

should be a good matchup and the 2M mark is good for Florida ... but also look at it from the perpective that even if they do hit 2M, there will probably be 20 teams that draw more than that

although moving from the bottom 3 into the 20th spot wouldn't be all that bad

I am pretty sure there will be around 25,000 today. I would think thursday is better draw than wednesday, and Pedro is pitching.

Well in 2002 we were second to last, in 2003 we were 3rd to last I believe, and probably 3rd again last year (although I am not sure). If we jump up 7 spots that would be pretty good for us.

But it's LL practice (bummed). Maybe I can get there by the fourth or fifth inning :mischief2

I know this is irrelevant to the discussion at hand but I have to say the best part of last night's game (besides the Marlins offensive explosion of course and Luis' barehand play) was watching Cliff Floyd striking out to end the game.

Thank you baseball gods, thank you.

You booooing me Ramp?

I generally try to speak well of ballplayers but listening to him bad-mouthing ownership and the franchise generally for two solid years really turned me off on the guy. He is one a very few players I actively dislike and take every chance I can to return the favor.

practice? you're talkin about practice? not a game, not a game.... but practice!

and that's another thing ... no one thinks that the people on this fans are "bad fans" or uninterested, etc

just the community as a whole has issues ...... the problem isn't marlins fans, it's the general lack of them

people on this board run the spectrum of fans ... old, new, traditional, immature, etc ... but all are fans and all would do what they can to catch this team

just there is a general frusteration that the rest of south florida can't see what we do and help out the franchise, by supporting the team, going to games and forcing through a new stadium

it is also frusterating for us out of state fans, because it takes effort to follow the team, put up with abuse at road games and have a general longing to actually see the marlins more than a few times a year (i know locals have their issues as well)

because of this, when we see an empty home stadium, or opposing fans making a larger representation in the marlins home stadium, it is annoying

Well said my man.

I would say anyone who comes to this site is not a bad fan by any means. But it bothers me seeing the fans in attendence being drowned out by the other team's fans. Joke or not, there were louder cheers for Mets hits than there were for when the Marlins scored. And that is the essence of what bothers me. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one is who is bothered by this.

I was at the game, the Met fans didn't even chant. No Mets drowned out any Marlins fans, big miastake.

750247

I wasnt at the game but I know that there were a few loud Met fans by the tv/radio booths... If you sit by the radio/t.v booth people can hear you on t.v/radio, and it sounds alot louder than it really is.

wow... lol I was there yesterday, and they started chanting, we bood em out. Like someone already said. a combined chant owuld be screwed up. Trust me, when they started, they were bood out..

Quick I watched the game last night and it seemed to me on countless occations that the Marlins fans were just as loud IF not louder than the Mets fans that were there last night.

Besides, its hard to be louder when 50% of the stadium was filled with Mets fan. :thumbdown

even though it isnt from this game...i just thought i would entertain all the fish fans with this story...back in 03' i went to the marlins-sox game up here in fenway...i have been a fish fan since the beginning and i loved bringing my best friends to see their favorite team the sox...so we went to the middle game and the fish were down 9-2 goin to the 8th inning when encarnacion hit a 3 run shot to cap a 4 run 8th inning and then lowell's 3 run shot capped a 4 run 9th inning...when lowell was jogging the bases i was the only person in all of fenway park standing, cheering, screaming my lungs out for my team...what a game...best game i ever went to...and i got pushed, spit at, beet spilt on me and so on...and then one truely respectible fan came up to me after the game and told me the marlins are a bunch of fighters...a bunch of fighters who won the whole F****** thing...hell yeah...and then another bunch of fighters won it last year...anyways...just wanted to share that on one night in boston...the marlins were heard loud and clear

Its a fact that attendence has risen more than 2 fold over the last couple of years. TV ratings for the Marlins are at an ALL TIME HIGH. Just because the Marlins arent selling out a stadium doesnt mean that the popularity of the team is low.

I was at the game too. The Met fans were loud drunk young men sitting right behind me. They were very shallow and rude. Not too mention they were saying the Marlins suck when we were wooping them and we have a better record. And the marlin fans did scream over them.

Well I didn't go to the game last night. I'm slipping but I'll still get my 45 games in this year.

Just wanted to tell you..love your story.Right on! :thumbup

You can't really chant "Let's Go Marlins" ahead of "Let's Go Mets" because they aren't on the same beat. Mets is one syllable, Marlins is two. Doesn't really work chat wise, all you would get is "Let's Go Mrararalins". Boos work better anyways.

750018

We should yell Let's Go FISH! :D It will make the Mets fans sound like they are saying "fish." Especially if you put emphasis on the ISSSSSHHHHHHH! :D
