One of those guys you loved if you were rooting for the Pacers, and hated if you were rooting for the other team...

Depending on your point of view, he could be an amazing pure shooter, a cheap shot artist, an amazing clutch performer, a whiney prima donna, or just a plain superstar.

Either way, one of the greatest shooters ever to play the game. He's been in the NBA almost as long as I can remember watching basketball. Too many great moments to even list. One of the top players to never win a championship, and one of the fortunate ones who played his entire career with one team. You really can't think of the Indiana Pacers without Reggie Miller.

I was never particularly a Pacers fan, but at times I found myself rooting for them (especially against the Knicks). Through it all though, you had to marvel at what a shooter he was, and especially his knack for making huge shots in the clutch.

Spike Lee and Knick fans across the country are celebrating tonight.

It's Miller Time! :notworthy

yeah LB with a very classy move. im gonna miss reggie he is a great player and its gonna be hard to see the pacers play now without him there coming up clutch when he needed to.

thanks for the memories reggie miller.

You will be missed reggie.

Your 11 points in like 30 seconds (or whatever it was) was unreal and one of my favorite childhood sport moments.

Last Shot...

Knick Haters everywhere wish this wasn't true.

He will be missed.

Great player, especially in the clutch.

Great guy.

I hope he has success in everything he does.

Great player... great clutch shooter. Other than MJ, I don't know how many other players I would rather have taking the last shot.

Why are you guys saying goodbye?

Reggie WILL be back next season. He played at tooooo high a level this season. He'll be back. It wont be the first time an athlete says he is gonna retire and ends up not retiring.

The pic that Accord put up is pure heaven, its true what they say a picture is worth a 1000 words but in this case its worth 1,000,000 words.

I always hated him since the Pacers were rivals of the Bulls in the 90's....but respected him nontheless, and he was of course a great player.

He really handeled himself like an adult, unlike a lot of athletes today, and will be missed.

:crying

Oh God that was classic....the people's reactions (particulary Spike Lee's) are priceless....

He's been on that god damn team as long as I remember watching basketball. So long Reggie!

:censored SCREW REGGIE FOR WHAT HE DID TO THE MAGIC IN 94 :censored

No, but seriously, Miller was a great player. He broke my heart in that series when I started getting into sports and he made it worth it all when I found myself rooting heavily against him and for the Knicks in that classic eastern conference finals.

Hands down, the greatest Reggie moment and arguably the greatest in all of the NBA has to be the 8 points in 9 seconds. I remember watching that game and talking to my friend the Knicks fan on the phone thinking the Knicks had won the game. A moment later my jaw was on the ground and my friend was screaming expletives like crazy.

Reggie Miller

Words cannot even begin to describe the contributions that he made not only to his team but to the entire league. He brought life into the game. He ressurected a dying Pacers team. This is going to be one of the saddest retirements in the game's history. He was as much of a legend as Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson, and John Stockton. He will be sorely missed by the NBA and the Indiana Pacers organization. I wish I could personally thank him for his contributions and spectacular memories. Good luck with the rest of your life Reggie.

great player, especially in the clutch...the greatest outside shooters in NBA history...

but a complete jackass

See ya Mickey...

As I was telling Craig earlier...I was so teary eyed when he came out of the game and everyone came over to clap and hug him. I wasn't around for Reggie's prime but I didn't have to be to understand what an incredible player he was. To stick with Indy for 18 seasons no matter how great the team was or how much money was involved is truly an accomplishment not to mention all the records and game winning shots he made. It's just so upsetting that somebody who gave up everything just to win never made it, came close so many time but never close enough. It's really a shame, he deserved to win it all more than almost anybody. It sucks he had to go out on defeat but he'll always be remembered as an amazing clutch player, with or without a championship.
