Willy came in at #16 on BA's weekly prospect hotsheet that unveiled today.

16. Josh Willingham, c, Marlins (Triple-A Albuquerque)

The PCL slugging leader (.669) has 33 RBIs in 36 games, much of it thanks to some deadly clutch hitting (.571 average with runners in scoring position).

Willingham is also 1-3 with his 12th homer in today's game against Tucson. He hit the homer off his former teammate Bill Murphy.

yea, he isnt too good

Wow, it looks more and more like he will be trade bait at the all star break. With Easley/Conine/Dillon on the bench there is no room for him. Maybe we could send down Aguila or Treanor but I doubt we will.

I think he's the minor league slugging leader now at .680SLG. wee!

Sadly they might trade him, although personally I think he will be a great MLB player. Doesn't really help him to sit in the bench behind Conine, Dillon, etc. unless they'd rather have him as a backup catcher, which is a bit of a risk.

He will be a lot better than Treanor in the future but I don't think we will get rid of Treanor right now.

When's the last time Treanor appeared in a game. I forget he's even on the team sometimes.

Agreed, if Jack doesn't get the backup in there more things will be looking grim down the stretch for Lo Duca. I think last night it said he was tied for games started with Mike Piazza..or something like that :o

May 15th and he's been involved in a grand total of 6 games this season.

it makes me a little worried when I see Paulie in there everyday, especially with his history of wearing down over the course of the season.

Willy went yard again... numero 13

He is on absolute fire. If he stays there all season, he could put up Joe Dillon numbers from last year (39 HR).

However, I dont think he'll be there for long. Either, he will be called up because of an injury or he will be traded at the deadline.

Call him up for Aguila!!!

Wow, SLG% is now up to .695, that's right .695!

and the worst part is that if he were to get called up he would be the new Aguila

15 at bats in 40 games

Why call him up to rot on the bench?

I have a feeling that Willi will be a good MLB player some day, but not for the Marlins

The Hammer went deep again today, his 14th. Needless to say he's on fire.

14th of the season... Impressive.

11th in the month of May... That's just ridiculous!

Guess I'm lazy. Remind me of what I once knew. Willingham plays IF and OF corners. Wasn't he being worked at Catcher (with a continuing stigma that he wasn't good defensively?)

So my question... is he still being tested at Catcher?

Thanks.

Yeah, he's been playing catcher much more than any other position.

He will be starting someplace for the Marlins next year.

Aguila will be a journeyman and never play for any meaningful stretch with the Marlins.

there are only 2 ways he is starting for the Marlins next year

1) if the FO believes Hermida needs atleast another half year in the minors, so Willy could play one of the corner OF spots

or

2) if Mike Lowell is moved, Cabrera goes to 3rd, Hermida in one corner, Willy in the other..... hey, a guy can dream cant he?

yikes.

man i wish we could find a spot for this guy.

They could always use Lenny's. I know its best for a veteran to PH, but this guy is stroking the ball.

He hit another one already tonight. Pretty sure that makes 4 straight games with a homer.
