Must keep giving Easley at bats

Featured Replies

When Castillo comes back it's going to be harder to get Easley's bat in the lineup consistently, which is a shame because in straight games you can see for yourself what he has done for us. Perhaps the average isn't there, but like many have said, it sure seems like he's hitting over 300 with a lot of homeruns :D . First of all, does anyone contend that Easley needs to get more at bats somehow when Castillo comes back? Im just not sure how we can do it.

um this just in...but castillo is fine easleys playing because he's on fire.

I wouldn't say that, I think Luis could play but no need to risk his health if Easley's hitting well, but let's face it, Luis is a huge part of this team and we need him at the top of the lineup.

I agree completly. However the problem is that the few slumping bats we have play at key defensive positions. I guess we could get away with sitting JP and moving Encarnacion to CF.

you couldn't get jp to sit if u tied him with a straight jacket

And Let Luiy lead off. He is a much more difficult out than JP.

Did you see Castillo run the other day? He looked like he was in serious pain.

This is going to kill JP's value in the open market. He can't get on base for crap.

It should keep his arby number low though.

Luis was quoted in the herald today as saying that hes not at 100%. He can play if needed but that if easley keeps playing well the more time he sits the better it is so he can heal

I said this in another thread and I'll say it here too: I would rather Luis rest up now and Easley get all the AB and playing time right now so that Luis can get back to 100%. We are not in a pennant chase right now and I would hate for him to get hurt again when we really need him in early and mid September.

Not that I don't think Easley wouldn't do a great job for us near the end of the season if Luis gets hurt, but Luis is the real 2nd baseman of this team and he was one of the guys that got us that championship 2 years ago.

He said the reason is that he reinjured(?) the calf was he was just resting and was unprepared to play on the field again. The extra rest may not help. Perhaps a pinch-hit or defensive opportunity might help.

So it only makes sense to keep Easley in until Luiy is 100%.

We can't risk Luiy getting hurt... might as well wait until he's 100%,especially when Easley is doing as good as he is. It makes no sense to put him back in the lineup if he's not ready yet, and Easleys on FIRE, so why mess with it?

Keep Easley starting until Luiy is 100% but phase Castillo back into his regular role with pinch hits and spot starts until the time comes to regain his normal tour of duty.

Luiy is a big key to this offense, no matter what Easley has contributed, and even though Easley has been doing well as a starter even while on fire he's not better than a healthy Luis Castillo.

It seems pretty much agreed here, just let Luis get back to 100%. It won't hurt the way Easley is batting.
