CyggyMarlin
Just dont think we need a rental reliever if the team can't score runs to get to the bullpen with a lead
Valyekrin
I've heard that the Phillies are shopping the bullpen for some reason, no reason not to like him. :thumbup

Passion
Ive read that Ryan Howard is most likely part of any deal with Wagner as the Phillies have had no luck trading Jim Thome, even though they are willing to eat alot of his salary. CyggyMarlin
Too bad, I think the Phillies have a better longterm future by keeping Howard and getting rid of Thome

NirvanaNole
I'm interested depending upon the price. I have a feeling they'd want more than we could offer. If the AJ/Lowell trade to the Blue Jays happens and we get several prospects in the deal, I wouldn't mind going after Wagner and use Mota/prospects to see if we could get Dunn from the Reds. I'm happy with Jones/Mota if the Phils' price is high, though.

The Red Sox did have an offer of Abe Alvarez, Kevin Youkolis, Kelly Shopach, and Anibal Sanchez for Billy Wagner and Howard on the table..but GM Wade of the Phils wants more and the Red Sox might not want to give him that much so they might just do a Wagner deal. But if the rumors that Kevin Millar is going to be an Astro soon are true, the Sox would need a MLB 1B ready player like Howard. Philly fans believe that the Phillies are deadlocked to get a deal worked out with the Red Sox because they covet 2-3 of their pitching prospects. Just some info on the subject.... FishFan24
Do we really need another closer with Todd Jones playing so damn well? I think we should focus our attention to areas of much more dire need...

And besides it worked out for us 2 years ago when we brought in Uggie to close out games with Looper.

I still think Howard will be dealt sometime...not necissarily to the Sox...but to someone...

If we could get him without giving away too many prospects and keep Mota, I'd be very happy. Mota/Jones/Wagner would be the best BP in baseball, IMO. Maybe Tank and another prospect would be enough. He's expendable if Olsen/Vargas work out. We're set at SP with Johnson, Allison and our latest draft picks. I wonder if Wagner would like to stay with the Marlins if we acquired him. Hopefully his wife likes the heat and the beach if we trade for him.

The strong rumors out of Philly have them lookin at how much Abreu could get them and J-Roll to the Giants for Jason Schmidt after they get Hanley from the Sox.
