September 23, 200520 yr Ruth and the old timers didn't have elbow guards, pads, today's gloves, today's level of conditioning and care, today's bandboxes, video, today's thicker barrel bats, today's immaculate baseball diamonds, today's tighter wound balls, complex scouting reports, helmets, etc. Bonds is top 10 but he's not THE greatest player of all time.
September 23, 200520 yr And todays players dont have 280 FT porches. But they do have 400 feet to the fence in CF rather than 480, and 375 to the gaps rather than 425......and they also have watered down pitching due to expansion, juiced baseballs (and possibly bats) and juiced players.

But today does have minority players, including blackcs (which were more predominant then) and hispanics.
