Does anybody have any idea what he did to earn him that suspension?

Cabrera disciplined: Miguel Cabrera was not in the lineup on Monday, held out for violating an undisclosed team rule. Team management decided to sit the All-Star for one game.

 

According to a source, Cabrera arrived late for Sunday's 1:05 p.m. ET game at Atlanta. He was in the starting lineup for that game, and went 0-for-3 with a walk.

 

The 22-year-old Venezuelan is leading the team with a .322 average, and he has 32 home runs and 111 RBIs.

 

Asked if the message sent to Cabrera has sunk in, McKeon said, "I think so. He's a great kid. He's young. You treat them like their your own kids, and sometimes they don't do everything you like. ... You have to have a little chat with him. He's going to be fine."

You're reading too much into it. If they got into an altercation, then why isn't AJ suspended as well. Lord knows he should be just for his comments.

Because if he were late for yesterday's game, why not sit him yesterday and not today.

 

Something happened after yesterday's game, which coincidentally sets up for a suspension today.

If you put a gun to my head I'd have to say the suspension was dealt out because Cabs was caught loaning out his house in Venezuela to FARC guerrillas who were using it as a drug lab and to launch raids into Columbia.

Does not sound like this is the first time. Bad habits lead to problems

If Cabs did say something to AJ, I hope it is along the lines of:

 

"Next time I see you, AJ, I'll be sending your fastball over the left field fence..."

Two reasons they didn't suspend him yesterday.

 

1. They wanted to discuss it internally.

2. They were hoping to avoid the sweep in Atlanta.

This wouldn't have earned him a benching if the games mean anything obviously.

Benching him half a day doesn't teach him a lesson. Having him go home Sunday night, come to the park Monday and sit through all the drills knowing he won't be playing that night would.

I would say that making it public has more effect. This is not the first time and to date, first time made public. Teammates resent this type of behavior, especially if allowed to continue without repercussion.

Keep him in check. I don't want him to get too big for his breeches. If this isn't an isolated incident, then I'm happy he's benched. Cabrera needs to learn that being a team player is just as important as being a good player (at least in my opinion).

Thank god AJ is leaving, i dont think Cabrera will really care seeming he probally knows McKeon is a gonna anyways
