October 9, 200521 yr This is seriously ridiculous. They melt when the playoffs come. Its like the old Dolphins (the fins that actually won games) that choked in December/January.
October 9, 200521 yr You have to admit, though...it is fun watching the Braves fall on their faces in the playoffs. :owned
October 9, 200521 yr I would have loved it more if the Astros won this heart beater in Atlanta, that would have really been one to try and soak in
October 10, 200521 yr Snake bit. The young Braves played their hearts out. They just came up a bit short.

October 10, 200521 yr Yeah, I have to admit I really do enjoy watching the Braves fail time and time again in the postseason...
October 10, 200521 yr McCann, Franceour, Johnson and the rest of the young kids are officially Braves. :lol :lol :lol

October 10, 200521 yr They usually win the division so early every year that they coast into the playoffs...this hurts momentum. And I'm serious.

October 10, 200521 yr I dont think they melted this year, they got beat by the better team. It sure looked that way. Houston had the superior pitching, and their hitting has come alive at just the right time.

Houston has a three headed horse of pitching that could take them all the way this year if they get the key hits.

October 10, 200521 yr the braves shouldnt have traded for farnsworth for one. once they find a bullpen they will be fine. they have an amazingly great young core out there. this is not the old braves...this braves team might actually do something once they figure a few things out, and i wouldnt put that past them one bit.
October 10, 200521 yr They are built for winning over the longhaul not for winning a short series. This is exactly why the record breaking Seattle Mariners were dispatched so quickly by the Yankees in 2001. The Braves have a bunch of GOOD pitchers but they don't have three studs that can shut teams down a la Clemens, Pettitte, Oswalt or Buehrle, Garcia, Garland. They also have a weak bullpen [see NY Yankees on that one] and above average but not stellar defense. All the Braves need is one or two stud pitchers and a reliable closer. Reitsma can pitch the 8th to set him up.

Yeah, Farnsy's 1.91 ERA and 10/10 save chances since being traded really hurt Atlanta during the stretch run of the season for a team in dire need of a closer. Dont crucify him for one bad game, albeit in a huge situation. And Atlanta needs one other good pitcher to be a WS contending team. If this game would have gone back to Atlanta, Smoltz would have won them this series.
