November 15, 200520 yr I would easily say Cabs is better than Lee. Lee had one really good year. Let's hold back accolades until he proves himself further. Not to mention he's already going to be 30. Our boy Cabs is only 22.

Hey, I think that Cabrera will be light years ahead of Lee in the future, but given what both did in '05, and considering the parks they play in, I can see Lee and Cabrera putting up similar numbers in '06.
November 15, 200520 yr If it would help the team why would it be bulls***? If trading Pierre helps keep Delgado because of the money saved, isn't it worth it?

November 15, 200520 yr Rotoworld has it reported. Show me Pie and Hill!!!!!!!!!!! Only 5 hours late. Actually, it was 4.5 hours, but thanks for dropping the knowledge, King Internet.
November 15, 200520 yr Pie's shouldn't be rushed to the majors. He's got the talent but has been given little time to learn how to play the game. Rush him and you may be in for a long developing process. Plenty of Cubs prospects to get excited about. Hope we get a few hitters to stock the farm. Trading JP would be bulls***. Wouldn't you just become a Cubs fan? After all you didn't become a Marlin fan until JP was traded here. Pierre is going to thrive in Chicago with the thick grass. I just hope we get Patterson and a prospect. Not sure about that. It will slow down some of the fast grounders into the outfield or deep infield.
November 15, 200520 yr I'll be very disappointed if we get rid of JP...but sports are disappointments in general so what else is new.

November 15, 200520 yr Rferry must be shivering with ecstacy at these rumors. I'm with him though, I hope we put a priority on getting some decent position players instead of more pitching prospects for Pierre. Though, this FO likes to cater the hordes so I'm hesitant to believe they'd really move Pierre unless it was for something sexy. Corey f***ing Patterson is NOT sexy. Neither is Munro. Though if we are just looking to trim payroll I guess what we get isn't so important.
November 15, 200520 yr 1. Pierre 2. Furcal 3. Lee 4. Ramirez :o That looks beautiful on paper.. then your reminded.. The Cubs would still find a way to lose..
November 15, 200520 yr OK, Rotoworld now saying Cubs are 1 of 2 teams seeking Sea Bass...put together a deal with Pierre and Sea Bass for some good prospects (SS and OF)
November 15, 200520 yr It is pretty much GUARANTEE that neither Pie (Hendry's personal FAVORITE prospect, BTW) or Murton (the young'in Hendry goated Epstein into throw in, into the Nomar deal) will be in the deal. Move one...Murton IS the starting LFer for the 2006 Cubs, (unless some guy like Dunn, or some seriously bigger LFer finds his way to the Cubs). And the only way Pie is in this deal is if Cabera, Hmerdia (sorry, can't spell worth a lick) or Willis is coming to Chicago with Pierre, and seeing as that is unlikely, Pie ain't in the deal. Now you guys have mention Cedeno, but I highly DOUBT that too. As somebody mention earlier...the Cubs are trying to move Walker so that 2B is open for Ronny Cedeno, so I doubt Cedeno will be in the deal. So if I had to venture a guess....I'd say Marshall and Aardsma are the prospects you guys are getting for Pierre. If you ask for Guzman, Hill, or Williams, then I would bet Wittingham would have to be involved.

"Willingham" plays for the Marlins...sheesh These Chicago rumors which always seem to have their genesis at ESPN1000, and like Cubs fans, their knowledge of the sport proves to be highly overrated and almost always 100% wrong. The only assumption I can draw is that listeners cannot tell the difference between the hosts and the callers. I guess a post from a Cubs troll is the perfect way to end this sorry episode.

And you think Pie commands that?!?!?! :lolup
November 15, 200520 yr as much as i love JP it would be real refreshing to see a new face in center field that has a great arm or at least somewhat better then JP's. especially if it helps free up money to keep Delgado.
November 15, 200520 yr Ok...time for the "insiders" to chime in. :shifty Anyone good friend's with Pie's wife, Felecia Strudel?
November 15, 200520 yr Another Cub fan here. Will try to keep it realistic, though. While we think pretty highly of Pie, he is a top 30 prospect. No more, at least for now. The guy who mentioned him with Willis or Cabrera should have his head examined. Anyway, I'm wondering if there is anything on sports talk down there talking about this, like it's a done deal. I have read in different places that it may be announced today, but none have a reliable source attached, of course. As far as who is being dealt, I am almost positive it won't be Murton, and am close to as sure on Pie, but Hendry wants a leadoff hitter badly, so I guess it COULD happen. Not likely, though. I'm thinking Rich Hill and either Nolasco or Pinto. Maybe Sing. Bottom line is if the deal happens, you will be getting some very good prospects. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as far as any news from the radio down there.....
November 15, 200520 yr To answer your question, checking through news.google.com and other sites, the only one who bought into this hoax was rotoworld.com and they have now removed it from "breaking news" and from the front page of the MLB section where it was prominently displayed (as opposed to just being on the wire).
November 15, 200520 yr The only known fact is that the Cubs have been in talks with the Fish. What is unknown is if there is an imminent deal, or how far into the talks they are.
November 15, 200520 yr After looking through the morning papers, the Florida media makes no mention of a Pierre trade...however, it appears that Lowell is tradeable assuming the Marlins take 50% of his deal, and the Twins are his biggest suitor. Interest in Lowell

Interest in Lowell 50% is alot of salary to eat. Anybody who takes on Lowell at $4.5M per is going to get a great deal. So looking at it the other way, if $4.5M is the most relief we can get, we should keep him.
