December 3, 200520 yr http://fantasybaseball.rotoworld.com/conte...s.asp?sport=MLB Juan Pierre - OF - Marlins Contradicting yesterday's report, the New York Post says the Marlins are still insisting on Robinson Cano from the Yankees in a Juan Pierre deal. We didn't think Sean Henn and Scott Proctor alone would get it done. Newsday is also saying that the Marlins want Cano. The Yankees aren't enamored with Pierre and likely would only consider him at a bargain price, so a trade appears unlikely. Dec. 3 - 5:04 am et Source: New York Post Good. I'm glad we're not just giving him away. I would be so happy if we could get Cano, but if they're not willing to part with him, I hope we turn our attention to another team - we can't give him away for two average pitchers.
December 3, 200520 yr Yes!!! When I originally heard about the rumor, my first questions was exactly that. Why aren't we asking for Cano? Maybe we can strike up a 3-way deal where LoDuca ends up in Arizona, Pierre and Counsell in NY, and we end up with Cano and prospects from both teams. :thumbup
December 3, 200520 yr Beinsfest need to stay put, Stenbrenner is enamored with Pierre. Hopefully they give in and send Cano our way. Here is a little tibit from an NY Mag article After the Yankees were upset by the Florida Marlins in the 2003 World Series, Steinbrenner froze out Cashman, ignoring the GM's opinion that the team needed to get younger and focus on strengthening its pitching staff. The Marlins had a speedy young leadoff man, Juan Pierre, who made the Yankees' offense look ponderous. So Steinbrenner went about getting his own fast leadoff hitter, signing free agent Kenny Lofton?even though, at 37, Lofton was slowing and the Yankees had nowhere to play him in the outfield. Cashman was kept in the dark. In fact, Towers, the Padres general manager, knew more about the Yankees' interest in Lofton than Cashman did. "I asked him, 'Cash, are you guys on Lofton?' He said, 'Sh*t, I don't know. I guess. I haven't heard,' " Towers says. "That makes it tough as a GM?not knowing who your team is after."
December 3, 200520 yr Its about freaking time they played hardball with someone. The Yanks are perfect for this too after seeing the Sox pluck Beckett, Lowell and Mota for a handfull of magic beans. Please wait until Damon signs with someone before making the trade of JP.
December 3, 200520 yr Typical of the Yankees to trade away a young MLB starting position player away...
December 3, 200520 yr Doubftul they would do it, but getting Cano sure would help take away the sting of losing Castillo. Hold outo trading JP for a little while. Let Damon sign and it puts a little more pressure on the Yanks. Don't settle
December 3, 200520 yr I like this trade almost as much as I like the Reed one. he has a crappy OBP at 320 the kid needs to learn a better eye.
December 3, 200520 yr .458 slugging. But still solid. He is another lefty bat. His defense isnt great but it is alright. He really needs to learn a better eye I think. But, I will take him for JP and villone
December 3, 200520 yr This trade made a year ago and most of you would be saying we gave him away. Funny how a recognizeable name increases a players value these days
December 3, 200520 yr This trade made a year ago and most of you would be saying we gave him away. Funny how a recognizeable name increases a players value these days hmmm... a year ago, JP was coming off a career year in which he hit 320 and had well over 200 hits, and robinson cano had never played in the mlb and was still considered a mediocre to above average prospect
December 3, 200520 yr An infield of Jacobs, Cano, Ramirez, and Cabrera would be amazing for years to come!!!
December 3, 200520 yr An infield of Jacobs, Cano, Ramirez, and Cabrera would be amazing for years to come!!! or until we decide to trade them off too.
December 3, 200520 yr I'd hang onto Villone, if Seattle wants him that badly we might be able to attatch something with him for Reed, and then something with Pierre for Cano. Are we still trying for Gathright?
December 3, 200520 yr This one isn't happening, Cashman said on Mike & the Mad Dog the other day that Wang and Cano were untouchable...and the only way I see him going back on this is if it's to get Ichiro.
December 3, 200520 yr "I'd hang onto Villone, if Seattle wants him that badly we might be able to attatch something with him for Reed" Not possible. They'd want Pierre for sure and that still might not be enough.
December 3, 200520 yr I'm all for Cano. :thumbup No, we're not getting Cano for Pierre. The only regular we could trade for Cano is Castillo. Oh wait, we already traded him for two f*ing middle relievers.
