December 8, 200520 yr It feels weird that Harris is back. That makes him the longest tenured Marlin. Wrong... Lenny signed as a free agent with the Fish on August 11th, 2003 Miggy and Dontrelle were already on the big club... :mischief2 I don't know why I remember him being on the club from the start of the year. Ok. I didn't mean to show you up or anything like that, I just could actually prove someone wrong and had to jump on it...
December 8, 200520 yr Any word on Conine getting arbitration? He didn't get it, only AJ was offered arby from us. No Jones? *Sigh* that was a poor decision. Where'd you see this, rotoworld doesn't have anything up yet.

Where'd you see this, rotoworld doesn't have anything up yet. Sun-Sentinel reported it.. no Conine, Easley, Gonzalez, Encarnacion, Jones, Mecir, Mordy... ::sigh:: or Valdez or Alfonseca.

December 8, 200520 yr The Marlins extended contract offers to Conine, Harris, Moehler and Antonio Alfonseca. But Alfonseca was not re-signed or offered arbitration, so both he and Conine will now pursue the free agent market. As a formality, the Marlins offered arbitration to A.J. Burnett, who has already signed a five-year, $55 million contract with the Blue Jays. By losing Burnett, the Marlins are expected to receive a sandwich compensatory draft pick and a second-round choice in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. The Marlins did not offer arbitration to Todd Jones, who is signing with the Tigers, Alex Gonzalez, Damion Easley, Juan Encarnacion, Ismael Valdez, Jim Mecir, Paul Quantrill and Mike Mordecai. Easley informed the team he was not interested in returning. Mordecai, the club's short-season Class A Jamestown manager last season, is leaving the organization to coach high school ball. Mordecai was called up by the Marlins in September. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...t=.jsp&c_id=fla
December 8, 200520 yr Offering Jones arby doesn't matter. He was signed before the day was over. Doesn't that automatically give us the 2nd rounder and sandwich?
December 8, 200520 yr Offering Jones arby doesn't matter. He was signed before the day was over. Doesn't that automatically give us the 2nd rounder and sandwich? No. If that were true, why did we offer it to Burnett?
December 8, 200520 yr Wow Mordy won't even stay to coach some studs in the minors. That's odd. And I don't know why they didn't offer Enc arby. That makes no sense. Offering Jones arby doesn't matter. He was signed before the day was over. Doesn't that automatically give us the 2nd rounder and sandwich? No. If that were true, why did we offer it to Burnett? Damn I was under hte assumption that if they signed before arby was offered, we automatically get their picks. FLawed! Flawed I say!
December 8, 200520 yr You know it's bad when someone leaves the organization to coach a high-school. Must say, I'm shocked they'd offer contracts but not arbitration, at least in the case of Conine.
December 8, 200520 yr And I don't know why they didn't offer Enc arby. That makes no sense. The last thing we need is that guy moping around our locker room. He's not exactly stirring up FA interest, so he'd probably make more money in arby than he would by not accepting.

December 8, 200520 yr Moehler was solid for the first half of 2005, although his W-L didn't reflect that due to lousy run support. It was his first complete season in the bigs after coming off TJ. He just ran out of gas the 2nd half. Hopefully he'll come back stronger this season. Would you rather he be put in the rotation or sent to the bullpen? With the current pitchers, I would rather see a rotation consisting of Willis, Vargas, Johnson, Olsen and Mitre with Moehler pitching middle/long relief to begin with. Moehler had his moments last year, especially during the first half, but overall his performance was nothing to write home about.

I would say it's a lock Mordecai was going to be asked back. Not as a player, but perhaps in a coaching capacity. Mordecai, according to the article, had no interest in remaining with the organization.

I would say it's a lock Mordecai was going to be asked back. Not as a player, but perhaps in a coaching capacity. Mordecai, according to the article, had no interest in remaining with the organization. I meant in a coaching capacity as well. All I see is "Mordecai, the club's short-season Class A Jamestown manager last season, is leaving the organization to coach high school ball." Now, clearly, since they called him up to get his pension, they have respect for the guy. So, of course, it sounds better to say he's leaving to coach high school ball than he will not be retained. Doesn't say he wasn't interested.

Hopefully his arm will be stretched out to go 200 innings this year. Bullpen: Messenger, Resop, Bowyer, Bump...???

But I suspect the FOs intention is to put some experience in the rotation.

But I don't see him putting in a better performance next season, though I hope I am wrong. He is much better suited for the middle relief role. If he is put in the rotation, I hope he takes Mitre's place and Mitre can take the middle/long relief role.
December 8, 200520 yr if moehler has any troubles, i'm sure he will be put in the pen and be a long reliever, i like this move, he can be used either way Agreed. :thumbup
