December 8, 200520 yr According to SI.com, Marlins re-signed Moehler to a 1-year contract and re-signed Lenny Harris to a minor league contract.
December 8, 200520 yr I like that Moehler will still be around. As for Lenny, I'd rather see him in the majors!
December 8, 200520 yr I've got no problems with those moves, need some experience on the team but I am holding out hope for a miracle with Conine still.
December 8, 200520 yr Oh come on. Moehler!? Any of our kids can put up his .300+ BAA. No sir, I don't like it. I like the Lenny move though. He'll make the team.
December 8, 200520 yr Wow, I'm amazed. I'm guessing that means Johnson won't be on the starting rotation.
December 8, 200520 yr nice! ( :: wow, things have gotten so bad I just got excited about Brian Moehler :: )
December 8, 200520 yr That means we'll have three spots open in the rotation. Willis will be first, Moehler will probably be our 4th starter, and Vargas should be in there too. Two spots for Olsen, Johnson, and Petit to compete over. May the best men win.

December 8, 200520 yr Yeah, forgot about Mitre. So for now we're looking at Willis, Moehler, Mitre, and Vargas. One spot open for all the other guys. If more than one blows people away perhaps we'll see Mitre doing long relief duty. Iowa, who's Fez?
December 8, 200520 yr The fact that Moehler may take a rotation spot away from Mitre, Johnson, or Olsen is counterproductive and, frankly, downright stupid. I hope he's in the bullpen.
December 8, 200520 yr I haven't lost all hope. No, I don't think Moehler is that good, in fact he is average at best. But at least our team isn't fielding all minor leagers. The fact is that we have hardly any major league experience in the rotation, and this will give us some real competition for the rotation in spring training. I wouldn't forget Olsen either, he will see action some time this year.
December 8, 200520 yr Good news. Moehler had a great start to the year, he did tail off but hopefully he can keep that consistency. Harris was a must to re-sign, he'll provide a lot of leadership and his bat off the bench is second to none.
December 8, 200520 yr Ugh - Lenny again? Sure, he seems like a great clubhouse guy, but his lack of defensive value hamstrings the bench. Moehler isn't all that necessary anymore, either, now that another MLB-ready starter in Mitre is aboard, though I guess either one could move to long relief if more kids than expected surprise in ST or during the year.
December 8, 200520 yr Moehler is a temporary solution in a rotation spot. We only have 3 proven pitchers to start, and with Moehler that makes 4. Olsen has experience and should be ready. Johnson might not be, Petit isn't, Sanchez isn't, etc....Moehler is the stop gap until those guys mature. I wouldn't be surprised to see Moehler switch to the bullpen once Johnson or Petit are ready at mid-season or so.
December 8, 200520 yr Maybe Lenny will be our starting LFer... :lol I don't want him taking PT away from Dontrelle there.
December 8, 200520 yr if moehler has any troubles, i'm sure he will be put in the pen and be a long reliever, i like this move, he can be used either way
December 8, 200520 yr Maybe Lenny will be our starting LFer... :lol Don't laugh too much... check this lineup out: 1. Lenny 2. Willy 3. Hermida 4. Miggy 5. Jacobs 6. Han Ram 7. Aguila 8. Second Baseman I like it. :thumbup

If Moehler has a decent first half and assuming we're out of contention, he could also bring in a bit of value in a deadline deal too.
December 8, 200520 yr You guys obviously missed the part about him signing an MLC. THat means he'll have to work for his spot in ST. I assume this move is more for his veteran presence in the preseason than anything else.
December 8, 200520 yr Lenny will be our table setter this year, except when Dontrelle pitches. On those days Dontrelle will lead off.
