December 20, 200520 yr Get Choi and let him and Stokes duke it out in ST... may the best man win I wanna see some people win their jobs this spring I would be cool with that. As long as Choi won :mischief :lol Choi and Stokes...pistols at dawn
December 20, 200520 yr Author Whats your fascination with Choi juanky? Nothing against it, just wondering. (where you one that was upset when he was traded in 04?)
December 20, 200520 yr Whats your fascination with Choi juanky? Nothing against it, just wondering. (where you one that was upset when he was traded in 04?) There's a ton of fascination with Choi. He's young enough, puts up great OBP numbers, has incredible power (albeit inconsistent) and (drum roll please) is cheap. If Jacobs can play left, Choi needs to be added.
December 20, 200520 yr Author Something just seems off about him to me. I mean he was just basicially kicked off of 1B for a career SS with a massive history of injuries.
December 20, 200520 yr Considering I witnessed first-hand that Choi does not suck (not superstar great, however) doesn't that logic suggest more of the Dodgers' own ineptitude when making personel decisions rather than a serious flaw with Choi?
December 20, 200520 yr Mike Jacobs is our 1B. He doesn't have the arm to play the OF due to his shoulder surgery.
December 20, 200520 yr He doesn't have the arm to play the OF due to his shoulder surgery. Just curious...why was he then still considered a candidate for catcher (at least with the Mets)?
December 20, 200520 yr Author I didn't say Choi sucked. I am just saying why not try the in house option that has the same power potential that we haven't already traded once and didn't get supplanted at 1B by a career SS that cant stay healthy.
December 21, 200520 yr He doesn't have the arm to play the OF due to his shoulder surgery. Just curious...why was he then still considered a candidate for catcher (at least with the Mets)? Well, most things I've read said he wasn't. I mean, it depends on what you believe, but the most optimistic things I saw were stuff like the Mets haven't decided whether he could catch or not.
December 21, 200520 yr He doesn't have the arm to play the OF due to his shoulder surgery. Just curious...why was he then still considered a candidate for catcher (at least with the Mets)? From what I read, once he had the shoulder problems the Mets sent him down to learn 1B.
December 21, 200520 yr Choi signed a deal with the Dodgers.. so you all can end that fascination. Mike Jacobs is our first baseman.
December 21, 200520 yr Author I'm sorry about our spat 20 days ago Iowa...espicially since it got me banned. And I dont know if there is a fascination with Choi, or if people thought it was just a viable option.
December 21, 200520 yr And I dont know if there is a fascination with Choi, or if people thought it was just a viable option. no, there is a fascination... atleast on this board
December 21, 200520 yr There was an article this afternoon that suggested the Dodgers would keep Choi to dangle him as tradebait over the winter. With something like four guys on the roster who can play first the conventional wisdom is Choi is the od man out. BTW, Jason Phillips is now afree agent, non-tendered.
December 21, 200520 yr Author Really not high on Jason Phillips either. He cant hit and I think Treanor is superior defensively. Also dont want to take any more garbage players from other teams who dont belong in MLB(*cough*Sergio Mitre*cough*)

December 21, 200520 yr Author Not that I really care what the guy who had a joy filled aneurism when Castillo was traded thinks(that means I dont always take you seriously 2003), but seriously...you think Jason Phillips is better than Treanor? At best they are even, but Phillips isnt that good.
December 21, 200520 yr Spike, no one takes you seriously. The board was soooo much better without you here. I guess we're all going to have to wait for you to make the next stupid comment that gets you banned. :confused Oh BTW, Treanor 2005: .201 .301 .261, Career: .212 .304 .265 Phillips 2005: .238 .287 .363, Career: .254 .321 .381 Again you make a point, and don't take facts into account.

December 21, 200520 yr There was an article this afternoon that suggested the Dodgers would keep Choi to dangle him as tradebait over the winter. He was signed That's all that needed to be said, no need to give a monetary amount. No need to trade for a player we don't really need.

I still have no idea what your deep seeded hatred of me is moneyball, I have never made a comment in your direction if I remember right. And wow their stats, neither one, are that great. Both pretty much really bad. And I still think Treanors defense is better, so its pretty much a wash. As for facts, I also never even brought batting stats up. I said who I thought was a better defender, and thats all a back up catcher really needs is good defense.
