Guest markotsay7
Use the Hebrew alphabet next. Hurricane Alef has a nice sound to it But once we got to the eighth one people would pronounce Hurricane Chet as if it was the nickname for Chester. Beetle
If a new storm forms two days from now, it would be named Alberto, right?
Guest Fritz
If a new storm forms two days from now, it would be named Alberto, right? It'd be "Eta".
TariAJ
If a new storm forms two days from now, it would be named Alberto, right? Yep. If a storm forms in the off-season, it will take the next name in the list based on the current calendar date. For example, if a tropical cyclone formed on December 28th, it would take the name from the previous season's list of names. If a storm formed in February, it would be named from the subsequent season's list of names. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml

rorod
So, until the next hurricane season officially starts, they will continue down the Greek alphabet? no, as soon as 2006 starts they go back to the english alphabet...for instance if TS Zeta would have formed on jan 1 of 2006 it would have been named TS Alberto ...i believe
Beinfest4Prez
That would be correct Rorod. Amazing, first time since Hurricane Alice2 in the 50s that a storm has been able to breach two years.
PBMarlin
Another tropical storm? Incredible! How fitting though given how crazy this season has been. Has there ever been a named tropical storm in the Atlantic on December 31?

Beinfest4Prez
Another tropical storm? Incredible! How fitting though given how crazy this season has been. Has there ever been a named tropical storm in the Atlantic on December 31? See my above post. Haha the NHC, I believe, will give up on ever trying to predict the intensities of subtropic systems. The GFDL looks like it may be right, again, this year and Zeta could reach hurricane status for at least one advisory cycle!
Fishfan79
i say we use an arab alphabet... how bout hurricane abdul or muhammad what color would be coded?
